Carbon capture from flue gases is one of the crucial routines for reducing current CO 2 emissions and mitigating the greenhouse effect. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have received a lot of interest as efficient solid adsorbents for CO 2 /N 2 separation in flue gas treatment. However, many MOF materials are susceptible to the presence of water vapor, which has a significant impact on their adsorption efficacy and moisture stability. Here in this work, we reported two pillar-layered Zn-MOFs with N -donors, i.e., Zn 2 (TRZ) 2 (Fuma) and Zn 2 (TRZ) 2 (BDC), which demonstrated high CO 2 uptakes (3.92 and 1.52 mmol/g) and CO 2 /N 2 (132 and 20.5) adsorption selectivities at 298 K and 101 kPa, among the best comprehensive results reported by far. After seven days of exposure to a 100 % RH environment, it was found that, the Zn-N pillar contributes to the robust structure of MOFs . Furthermore, in-depth theoretical calculations indicated the guest-framework interactions, and dynamic sorption tests confirmed high working capacities (2.78 and 1.14 mmol/g), sufficient water stability and remarkable cycling performance of the studied MOFs under humid ambient conditions. We believe this work provides a routine to prepare robust and promising candidates to address the challenge in carbon capture under humid conditions.
In this article, two novel metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been constructed by tuning the metal ions using identical ligand—FDA. Although both of them contain linear trinuclear secondary building unit (SBU) and infinite chain along with SBU, the different metal ions as node can result in the different connection of FDA. As a result, compound I shows 4,4-networks, and compound II contains 3-ring and 4-ring.

Four MOFs with two identical structures were constructed by using 1,4-bis(4-pyridyl)-2,3-diaza-1,3-butadiene (4-bpd) and 1,3-dicarboxyadamantane (H 2 adc) as linkers, and Co 2+ , Ni 2+ as metal nodes by solvothermal method. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction revealed that complexes [Co 2 (adc) 2 (4-bpd)] n ( 1 ) and [Ni 2 (adc) 2 (4-bpd)] n ( 2 ) have the same two-dimensional molecular structure, while complexes [Ni(Hadc) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ] n ( 3 ) and [Co(Hadc) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ] n ( 4 ) exhibit identical one-dimensional chain-like molecular structures. The photo/electrocatalytic performances and thermal stability of four complexes were investigated. Introducing 4-bpd to form mixed-ligand complexes 1 and 2 enables the degradation of crystal violet (CV) dye in a Fenton-like system. Furthermore, there is an improvement in the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalytic performance among the MOFs of the same metal nodes. It is worth mentioning that in this study, Co-based MOFs showed better catalytic performance than Ni-based MOFs, which is mainly attributed to the distinctive electronic structure of Co 2+ and Ni 2+ d orbitals.
