Rational design of a multifunctional mSiO 2 -CQDs-Au@Ag nanocomposite. • Au@Ag and CQDs synergistically strengthen the SERS response. • The substrate achieves an enhancement factor of 1.0 × 10 9 . • Amisulpride in seawater is detected at 6.1 × 10 −9 mol·L −1 . • Charge transfer assisted enhancement is revealed experimentally. Pharmaceutically active compounds (PhACs) are receiving increasing attention because of their widespread use and continuous release into aquatic environments. Among them, amisulpride (AMI), a widely prescribed antipsychotic drug, is a plausible aquatic contaminant due to its release through wastewater and incomplete metabolic removal. Herein, Au@Ag core–shell nanoparticles were prepared using β-cyclodextrin as both the reducing agent and stabilizer, and further assembled with carbon quantum dots (CQDs) and mesoporous silica (mSiO 2 ) to construct a composite Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate, mSiO 2 -CQDs-Au@Ag, for sensitive AMI detection. The substrate exhibited strong enhancement capability, with an enhancement factor (EF) as high as 1.0 × 10 9 . When applied to the detection of AMI in seawater, the proposed platform achieves a low limit of detection (LOD) of 6.1 × 10 −9 mol·L −1 , together with a good linearity (R 2 = 0.993). Combined theoretical and experimental analyses indicated that CQDs not only participate in interfacial charge transfer, but also contribute to analyte adsorption. This work offers a rational strategy for constructing semiconductor-integrated SERS platforms for sensitive detection and demonstrates its promising potential for environmental monitoring of emerging organic pollutants. Excessive multi-site confinement impairs induced-fit Cd 2+ aptamer binding. • Ag-MOF/Pen co-regulation balances structural rigidity and binding flexibility. • Interfacial anchoring and H-bond regulation enhance apparent affinity 16.1-fold. • Label-free fluorescence enables accurate Cd 2+ analysis in pea seedling tissues. Aptamer immobilization can improve structural stability, but excessive confinement may restrict the conformational rearrangements required for induced-fit target recognition. A key challenge is therefore to stabilize recognition-competent conformations while preserving the structural adaptability required for binding. Using a Cd 2+ aptamer as a model, we first demonstrated that conventional multi-site immobilization increased the apparent dissociation constant by approximately eightfold relative to the free aptamer. To address this issue, we developed a surface-imprinting strategy that confines the aptamer within hydrogel through single-point tethering of the aptamer while modulating its local microenvironment. The Cd 2+ -bound aptamer was first assembled on Ag-MOF, followed by hydrogel polymerization in the presence of penicillamine. During imprinting, Ag-MOF promoted localized aptamer anchoring, while penicillamine regulated the hydrogen-bonding network surrounding the Cd 2+ -aptamer complex. Subsequent Cd 2+ removal generated an imprinted microenvironment that partially preserved the preorganized recognition conformation without over-constraining flexible regions required for rebinding. The optimized hybrid exhibited an apparent dissociation constant of 0.19 μM, corresponding to a 16.1-fold decrease relative to the free aptamer, and reached binding equilibrium within 10 min. Integration with label-free Tb 3+ -sensitized fluorescence enabled Cd 2+ detection with a limit of detection of 0.7 nM, approximately 1.1–1114-fold lower than nine representative reported methods, while maintaining satisfactory selectivity and reproducibility. The method was further validated by quantifying Cd²⁺ in different tissues of hydroponically grown pea seedlings and food matrices, with results consistent with ICP-MS. These results establish moderate, microenvironment-assisted confinement as a general design principle for balancing conformational stabilization and induced-fit adaptability at aptamer recognition interfaces. A two-step anchoring-reduction strategy controllably converts Ag 1 to Ag ACs , yielding an electronically coupled hybrid. • Coordinatively unsaturated Ag ACs sites adsorb O 2 , while adjacent Ag 1 donors raise their Fermi level above the O 2 LUMO.The elevated Fermi level enables spontaneous electron injection, O–O bond elongation, and enhanced •O 2 – generation. • Ag ACs+1 /CNs inactivates >99.9% of E. coli and S. aureus within 1.5 h under visible light at 2 μg/mL. Oxygen adsorption and activation are pivotal steps that drive the reactive oxygen species (ROS) cascade and fundamentally govern the efficacy of photocatalytic antibacterial processes. However, reconciling the distinct electronic requirements for O 2 capture and subsequent activation at a unified catalytic site remains a significant challenge. Herein, we report a hybrid-state catalyst (Ag ACs+1 /CNs), fabricated by anchoring silver single atoms (Ag 1 ) onto carbon nitride and subsequently converting part of the Ag 1 into atomically precise silver clusters (Ag ACs ). In this architecture, the coordinatively unsaturated edge Ag atoms of Ag ACs serve as oxygen adsorption sites. Simultaneously, neighboring Ag 1 sites act as electron donors, which is proposed to elevate the Fermi level of Ag ACs above the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) of O 2 . This elevated Fermi level promotes oxygen activation by enabling spontaneous electron injection from Ag ACs into O 2 , elongating the O O bond, and thereby facilitating the formation of superoxide radicals (•O 2 − ). As a result, Ag ACs+1 /CNs demonstrate exceptional bactericidal activity under visible light irradiation at a low concentration of 2 μg/mL, achieving over 99.9% inactivation of both E. coli and S. aureus within 1.5 h. This work presents a design paradigm for hybrid single-atom/cluster catalysts, which provides an integrated strategy to synergistically enhance adsorption and activation at unified active sites. In this study, silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) and zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) were co -loaded onto polydopamine-modified montmorillonite (PDA Mt) and incorporated into a konjac glucomannan (KGM) matrix to fabricate biodegradable active food packaging films. The physicochemical properties of the KGM/ZnO/Ag/PDA-Mt films were systematically characterized using XRD, FTIR, TG, XPS, FE-SEM, and EDS mapping. The results showed that the ZnO/Ag/PDA-Mt nanofillers were successfully introduced and well-dispersed in the KGM matrix. XPS analysis further confirmed the presence and chemical states of C, O, Zn, Si, Al, and Ag in the composite film. The composite films exhibited improved mechanical properties, with the 4% KGM/ZnO/Ag/PDA-Mt film showing the highest tensile strength of 18.9 MPa, which was 86.8% higher than that of pure KGM film. The films also displayed strong antibacterial activity, with bactericidal rates of ≥98.04% against S. aureus and ≥ 98.16% against E. coli . In addition, the migration amounts of Ag and Zn in different food simulants were below the corresponding specific migration limits or reference safety limits. In blueberry preservation tests, the 4% KGM/ZnO/Ag/PDA-Mt film effectively delayed fruit deterioration by reducing the weight loss rate to 13% compared with 23% for the control, maintaining fruit firmness at 1.95 N, and preserving total soluble solids at 14°Bx after 10 days of storage. These results indicate that the developed KGM/ZnO/Ag/PDA-Mt composite film has promising potential as a biodegradable active packaging material for blueberry preservation.

Ag–Cu tandem catalysis provides an effective strategy to enhance C2+ selectivity in the electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) by integrating CO generation and utilization for C–C coupling. Here, we report a series of Ag@Cu2O, Ag@CuO, and Ag@CuO-BDC core–shell catalysts designed to regulate the CO generation, Cu-oxidation states, and surface structures. The Ag@Cu2O catalysts exhibit pronounced tandem effects, suppressing CH4 formation while enhancing the C–C coupling on the Cu sites. Notably, Ag@Cu2O-30 achieves a high C2H4/CH4 Faradaic efficiency ratio of 6.5 at −1.8 V (vs RHE) with an increased C2H4 partial current density of 12.3 mA cm–2. Oxidation to Ag@CuO further modifies the Cu species distribution, facilitating CO and CO2 diffusion while reducing H2 formation. Moreover, constructing Cu-BDC-MOF followed by electrochemical reconstruction generates additional oxygen vacancies and stabilizes Cu+ species, enhancing C2H4 selectivity and stability but with increased CH4 formation and reduced current density. This study highlights Ag–Cu tandem catalysis and structural regulation of Cu as effective strategies for achieving selective reduction of CO2 toward C2H4.

Antimony trisulfide (Sb 2 S 3 ) has emerged as a promising absorber material for indoor photovoltaic applications owing to its ideal bandgap (∼1.73 eV) and high absorption coefficient in the visible spectrum. However, the carrier transport efficiency of Sb 2 S 3 thin films is strongly constrained by their preferential crystallographic orientation, with the [hk1]-oriented films exhibiting approximately 100 times higher resistivity than their [hk0]-oriented counterparts. Herein, we report a facile chemical bath deposition (CBD) strategy to achieve the [hk1]-oriented Ag-doped Sb 2 S 3 thin films by incorporating trace amounts of Ag + ions into the growth solution. The effects of Ag + concentration on the crystal orientation, bandgap, chemical composition, and defect density of the resulting Ag:Sb 2 S 3 thin films, as well as the photovoltaic performance of the corresponding solar cells, were systematically investigated. The results demonstrate that the Ag:Sb 2 S 3 thin film with an optimal Ag doping concentration of 2% exhibits superior [hk1]-orientation, significantly reduced defect density, and enhanced carrier transport properties, while maintaining an ideal bandgap of ∼1.77 eV. As a result, the Ag:Sb₂S₃ solar cell achieves a photoelectric conversion efficiency of 7.01% under AM 1.5 G illumination and up to 17.22% under warm white LED illumination (2762 K, 1000 lx), representing a notable achievement for Sb 2 S 3 -based indoor solar cells.

Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) present a serious risk to ecosystems and human health, underscoring the need for highly sensitive detection methods. Existing analytical approaches often lack the portability and rapid response required for on-site screening, and conventional surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) substrates exhibit limited affinity toward hydrophobic PFAS molecules. To overcome these limitations, we designed a superhydrophobic nano-Cu modified Ag foam that integrates hydrophobic enrichment with specific metal-carboxylate coordination for effective perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) capture and detection. The critical role of Cu 2+ as a bridging site for selective PFOA adsorption was elucidated. This design achieves a remarkably low detection limit of 0.1 μg L −1 for PFOA and enables discrimination between different PFAS categories. Moreover, it maintains excellent SERS activity after two months of storage, effectively addressing the issue of facile oxidation of Cu. The substrate was successfully applied to detect PFOA in various real water samples, demonstrating its potential as a practical and powerful platform for environmental PFAS monitoring.

The efficient and sensitive monitoring of the interleukin-6 (IL-6) is crucial for the clinical tracking and diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Herein, a novel surface-enhanced Raman scattering substrate (RGO@MoS 2 /Ag NPs), comprising an efficient charge-transfer and adsorption layer of reduced graphene oxide (GO) encapsulated in molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2 ) and an electromagnetic enhancement layer of Ag nanoparticles, was developed for the highly sensitive, label-free detection of IL-6. Experimentally, a precursor film consisting of (NH 4 ) 2 MoS 4 and GO was first deposited onto a rough g -C 3 N 4 substrate via spin-coating process. Subsequently, the above precursor film was subjected to a two-step high-temperature annealing process for preparing the RGO@MoS 2 charge transfer layer. Finally, Ag NPs were sputtered onto the RGO@MoS 2 film to induce the localized surface plasmons for the further enhancement of the SERS performance. Leveraging the high specific surface area and exceptional charge transfer properties of RGO@MoS 2 , together with the high-density “hot spots” generated by surface Ag NPs, the fabricated SERS substrate exhibited remarkable electromagnetic and chemical enhancement effects. By using the rhodamine 6G (R6G) as the Raman reporter, it was determined that the lowest detection limit could be as low as 10 −9 M on the optimal SERS substrate, with an enhancement factor of 2.2 × 10 9 . Meanwhile, the substrate also exhibited good uniformity, with a relative standard deviation of 9.84%. Finally, the prepared SERS substrate was used to detect the IL-6, it showed good linear response in the range of 5.0-1000 pg/mL, with a detection limit as low as 0.41 pg/mL.

Simultaneously enhancing the mechanical strength and electrical conductivity of aluminum-matrix composites remains challenging because conventional strengthening strategies usually introduce defects and interfaces that intensify electron scattering. In this work, graphene surfaces were coated with Ag or Ni via electroless deposition to regulate the graphene/Al interface through work-function differences. Few-layer graphene was coated with Ag (lower work function than graphene) or Ni (higher work function than graphene) via electroless deposition, dispersed into aluminum powders by ball milling, and consolidated by high-pressure sintering at 1 GPa. The Ni-coated graphene/Al composite achieves an ultimate tensile strength of 336 MPa, corresponding to a 78.7% increase over identically processed pure aluminum. In contrast, the Ag-coated graphene/Al composite delivers an electrical conductivity of 73.37% IACS, representing a 17.58% improvement relative to the pure aluminum, while maintaining a high ultimate tensile strength of 318 MPa. The optimization of the ultimate tensile strength and conductivity follows distinct pathways, governed respectively by interfacial phase-architecture strengthening and work-function-induced electronic doping. This strategy offers a scalable route for synergistically regulating interfacial phases and electronic structures toward high-strength and high-conductivity aluminum-matrix composites for structural–functional integration. Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) has been one of the efficient strategies for trace molecular analysis, but the traditional substrates with sharp tips cannot effectively detecting the molecular isomers. Here, we develop a facile way to fabricate large-area, reproducible Ag/Au nanocavity arrays by the combination of microsphere-templated soft lithography and self-assembly. Compared to the flat and convex substrate, the Ag/Au units arranged on the concave surface exhibit a high-density of hotspots via spatial light confinement and multi-reflection-enhanced electromagnetic coupling, which enables highly sensitive detection of probe molecules down to10 −12 M. Moreover, by integrating machine learning algorithms, the test set shows a coefficient of determination (R 2 ) of 0.9896, achieving advanced training performance for classifying four structurally analogous quinolone antibiotics (ciprofloxacin, enrofloxacin, danofloxacin, and enoxacin) with a quantitative prediction of 10 −10 M. This work demonstrates a robust pathway for the controllable fabrication of high-performance SERS substrates for the development of intelligent, quantitative, and on-site sensing platforms in complex practical scenarios. reported water-responsive AgNC@LTA systems only exhibit binary luminescence
switching, restricting high-resolution multilevel environmental monitoring.
Herein, we construct a Mg 2+ -regulated AgNC@LTA system via
sequential ion exchange and thermal treatment. The as-prepared Ag-LTA(Na/Mg)

The excessive use of antibiotics in medicine, agriculture, and aquaculture has led to widespread environmental contamination and public health concerns, underscoring the urgent need for rapid, sensitive, and cost-effective detection methods. Here, we report a scalable surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) platform based on silver-coated cross-scanned laser-induced periodic surface structures (CS-LIPSS) fabricated via femtosecond laser processing. By employing cylindrical lens-assisted beam shaping followed by orthogonal double-pass scanning, we generated periodic nanostructures enriched with dense nanoparticles. Subsequent Ag deposition produce a dense distribution of plasmonic hotspots, enabling strong electromagnetic enhancement. Compared with conventional mesh and single-scanned LIPSS substrates, the CS-LIPSS demonstrate superior SERS activity, with an enhancement factor of 6 . 4 × 1 0 7 and a detection limit down to 1 0 − 1 1 M for crystal violet. More importantly, the platform enable reliable identification of representative antibiotics including amoxicillin, tetracycline, and neomycin sulfate at concentrations as low as 1 ppm, highlighting its sensitivity and molecular specificity. The fabrication process is chemical-free, template-free, and compatible with wafer-scale production, offering a cost-effective route to reproducible, high-performance SERS substrates
