Lipase (LPS), also known as glycerol ester hydrolase, catalyzes the hydrolysis of triglycerides into fatty acids and glycerol (or diglycerides and monoglycerides). LPS is widely present in various organisms. This kit provides a simple, convenient, and rapid method for detecting lipase activity in soil. The principle is based on the hydrolysis of oils into fatty acids catalyzed by LPS, and the rate of fatty acid production is measured using the copper soap method to calculate LPS activity.
