Soil aryl acylamidase (EC 3.5.1.13) hydrolyzes compounds containing amide groups. This kit utilizes soil aryl acylamidase to hydrolyze the substrate L-leucine β-naphthylamide, producing β-naphthylamine, which then reacts with p-dimethylaminocinnamaldehyde to form a red azo compound. This compound exhibits a characteristic absorption peak at 540 nm. The soil aryl acylamidase activity is calculated by measuring the rate of increase of this red product.
