Lipase (EC 3.1.1.3) is an ester bond hydrolase that catalyzes the hydrolysis of fats and oils, and is widely used in the food, pharmaceutical, detergent, and leather industries. This kit employs a p‑nitrophenyl ester substrate method for the determination of lipase activity: the lipase hydrolyzes the substrate to release p‑nitrophenol, and the absorbance is measured at 405 nm. The absorbance is directly proportional to the enzyme activity, allowing for quantitative determination accordingly.
