Balanced Salt Solution (BSS) matches the environmental conditions such as pH and osmotic pressure of cells under growth status. It functions to maintain osmotic pressure, regulate acid-base balance, and supply energy and inorganic salts essential for cellular survival and metabolism, meeting the basic requirements for cell survival and sustaining certain metabolic activities in in vitro experiments.

Sodium Bicarbonate Solution (1 mol/L, pH 8.3–9.0) is mainly composed of sodium bicarbonate and deionized water.
