Domain distribution, defect density as well as carrier transport all exert some great impact on the performance of quasi-two-dimensional (quasi-2D) perovskites light emitting diodes (PeLEDs). Herein, the novelty multifunctional metformin hydrochloride (MFCl) buried passivated layer was introduced to optimize the crystal dynamics, surface morphology, and electro-luminescent properties of the quasi-2D perovskites. On the one hand, MF ion to some extent optimized the domain distribution just by both decreasing the n = 2 phase and increasing the three-dimensional (3D) phase, which facilitated the charge funnelling. On the other hand, by combining MFCl with PSS or PSS-Na, the energy level of the hole transport layer was effectively adjusted, resulting in an obvious reduction of the injection barrier. As a result, the MFCl-optimized blue quasi-2D PeLEDs with the maximum external quantum efficiency of 5.22 % was achieved, which is 3.6 times higher than that of the device without the MFCl treatment. This work provided favourable strategy for the performance enhancement of blue quasi-2D PeLEDs, in which a multifunction interface was introduced to synchronously improve the phase distribution as well as the defect passivation of quasi-2D perovskite, meanwhile all of those further promoted the charge transportation.

Ferrotitanium slag (FTS) is the waste product that has gained attention as a potential calcium hexaaluminate (CA 6 ) resource in recent years. In this study, the phase distribution of FTS and CA 6 aggregate was compared, and its effect on the cryolite resistance of castables was further studied. Scanning electron microscopy and least-squares refinement program were used to characterize the phase distribution and crystallographic parameters of ferrotitanium slag. Computational and experimental results demonstrate that ferrotitanium slag contains denser and larger hibonite crystals compared to synthetic calcium hexaaluminate. Ti element exists in the hibonite crystal in the form of coupled substitution or direct substitution of Al 3+ . Performance evaluation in refractory castables also confirms the resulting improvement in corrosion resistance.

Quasi-2D perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) are promising candidates to realize superior luminescent. However, the poorly controlled phase distribution and surface defects hinder the improvement of the device's performance. Here, by introducing rubidium bromide (RbBr) to tune the crystallization kinetics of quasi-2D perovskites, more uniform phase distribution is achieved through the suppression of medium-n phases, resulting in narrower emission spectrum and more efficient energy transfer. Meanwhile, the defects are effectively passivated by the addition of RbBr. As a result, the photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of quasi-2D perovskite films increases significantly from 45.6% to 81.3%, and the maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of PeLEDs reaches 18.92%. This finding provides a new insight into the phase distribution control of quasi-2D perovskites and the further improvement of PeLEDs.

Quasi-two-dimensional (quasi-2D) perovskites exhibit excellent performance when applied to light-emitting diodes (LEDs). However, quasi-2D perovskite films generally have nonuniform n phases and irregular internal crystal structures, which degrade the device’s performance. Here, we propose using a Dion–Jacobson (DJ)-type organic spacer to modulate the phase distribution of the Ruddlesden–Popper (RP) quasi-2D perovskite. A DJ-type organic spacer cation, 1.6-hexamethylenediamine (HDABr2), was introduced into the perovskite as the second spacer cation with propylamine hydrobromide (PABr). As DJ-type and RP-type perovskites have similar spacings, RP–DJ style does not cause a chaotic crystalline structure; instead, it modulates the perovskite crystallization and narrows the phase distribution. In parallel, there is a substantial improvement in the maximum luminance, current efficiency, external quantum efficiency, and device stability of the quasi-2D perovskite LEDs. This work provides a novel concept for combining the organic spacer cations for quasi-2D perovskites.

SiC epitaxial wafers offer enormous potential for a wide range of telecom technologies due to their excellent properties. The experimental process was simulated by software, and the contour of gas flow velocity and raw material mass fraction inside the chamber were obtained. SiC films were epitaxially grown on 4H-SiC single crystalline substrates at different temperatures for one batch, using SiCl4, CH4, and H2as precursors. With increasing temperature, the crystal phase changed from 4H-SiC at 1773 K to a mixture of 4H- and 3C-SiC, and then a mixture of 3C-SiC and graphite at higher than 1923 K. The film was mainly (004)-oriented 4H-SiC and (111)-oriented 3C-SiC.Keywords:SiC film;high-frequency induction-heated halide CVD;crystalline phases distribution;microstructure;orientation

Perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) have shown great potential in the display domain due to their wide color gamut, narrow emission, and low cost. In current PeLEDs manufacturing methods, thermal evaporation shows great competitiveness with its advantages of easy patterning, production line compatibility, and solvent-free processability. However, the development of thermally evaporated blue PeLEDs is limited by their low radiative recombination rate and high defect density. Herein, we report high-performance thermally evaporated blue PeLEDs by in situ introduction of ammonium cations. We confirm that phenethylammonium (PEA+) has lower adsorption energy, which significantly reduces the low-n phases in a quasi-2D perovskite film. The energy transfer rate is also promoted by the PEA+ addition. As a result, we fabricate blue PeLEDs with an external quantum efficiency of 1.56% by thermal evaporation. The strategy of arranging phase distribution could benefit the industrialization of full-color PeLEDs.

Metal halide perovskites have received much attention for their application in light-emitting diodes (LEDs) in the past several years. Rapid progress has been made in efficient green, red, and near-infrared perovskite LEDs. However, the development of blue perovskite LEDs is still lagging far behind. Here, we report efficient sky-blue perovskite LEDs by rearranging low-dimensional phase distribution in quasi-2D perovskites. We incorporated sodium ions into the mixed-Cl/Br quasi-2D perovskites with phenylethylammonium as the organic spacer and cesium lead halide as the inorganic framework. The inclusion of the sodium ion was found to significantly reduce the formation of the n = 1 phase, which was dominated by nonradiative transition, and increase the formation of other small-n phases for efficient exciton energy transfer. By managing the phase distribution, a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 11.7% was achieved in the sky-blue perovskite LED, with a stable emission peak at 488 nm. Further optimizing the phase distribution and film morphology with Pb content, we demonstrated the sky-blue devices with the average EQE approaching 10%. This strategy of engineering phase distribution of quasi-2D perovskites with a sodium ion could provide a useful way for the fabrication of high-performance blue perovskite LEDs.

Quasi-two-dimensional (quasi-2D) perovskites with pure bromine components have emerged as promising candidates for blue light-emitting diodes (LEDs). However, the broad-width distribution of quantum wells generally results in sky-blue emission due to the cascade energy transfer. The presence of low-n phases (n defined as the number of inorganic monolayers) are also feasible to induce electron–phonon coupling and subsequent non-radiative recombination loss. Thus, the elaborate control over the phase distribution of quantum wells and effective in-situ passivation have been essential factors to achieve high-performance pure-blue quasi-2D perovskite LEDs (PeLEDs). In this work, we report a novel organic spacer ligand ethylenediammonium trifluoroacetate (EDATFAc 2 ) to simultaneously modulate the emission wavelength and passivate defects of quasi-2D perovskite. The large spacer EDATFAc 2 can interact with PbBr 6 4- octahedra and PEA + cations to slow down the crystallization kinetics and facilitate homogenous distribution of precursor components, finally eliminating both small-n domains and large-n domains. Such concentrated phase distribution and robust defect passivation contribute to high-performance blue quasi-2D perovskite emitter. This work clearly shows that the functional spacer ligand can provide powerful strategy to achieve blue quasi-2D PeLEDs with pure bromine components.

The intrinsic chaotic phase distribution in Ruddlesden-Popper Perovskite (RPP) hinders its further improvement of photoluminescence (PL) emission and limits its application in optical devices. In this work, we achieve the phase distribution regulation of RPP by varying the composition ratio of organic bulky spacer cations 1-naphthylmethylamine (NMA) and phenylethyl-ammonium (PEA), which is controllable and nondestructive for structures of RPP. By suppressing the small n-phase, the PL intensity emission of RPP is further improved. Through the time-resolved PL (TRPL) measurements, we find the PL lifetime of the sample with 66% PEA concentration increases with the temperature initially and possesses the highest values ofτ1andτ2at ~255 K, indicating the immediate state assisting exciton radiative recombination, and it can be modulated by phase manipulation in RPP. The immediate state may outcompete other non-radiative decay channels for excited carriers, leading to the PL enhancement in RPP, and broadening its further application.

Quasi-2D (Q-2D) perovskites with typical varied n-phase structures deserve promising candidates in pursuing high-performance perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs). Whereas their weakness in precise n -phase distribution control disables the optical property of PeLEDs since the n = 1 phase is dominated by severe nonradiative recombination. Here, an effective phase distribution tailoring strategy is developed for pure blue PeLEDs by introducing taurine (TAU) into mixed halide Q-2D perovskites. The sulfonic acid group in TAU can coordinate with Pb 2+ to suppress the formation of the n = 1 phase while promoting the growth of Q-2D perovskites into domains with the graded distribution of n = 2 and 3. The amino group in TAU forms hydrogen bonds with electronegative halide ions, suppressing the formation of halide vacancies and reducing the defect density in the Q-2D perovskite films. As a result, optimized blue Q-2D perovskite films boosted PLQY to 92%. Target blue PeLED was endowed with a peak EQE of 14.82% (average 12.6%) at 475 nm and a maximum luminance of 1937 cd m −2 , which is among the reported high-level pure blue PeLEDs. This work demonstrates a feasible approach to regulate the phase distribution of Q-2D perovskites for high-performance blue PeLEDs.

Quasi-2D perovskites have emerged as a promising candidate material for displays owing to their high photoluminescence quantum yields and low-cost solution synthesis. However, achieving pure red quasi-2D perovskite films with luminescence centered at 630 nm and a narrow emission band presents a critical challenge for high-definition displays. Herein, by incorporating 18-crown-6 as additives that simultaneously passivate defects and regulate phase distribution, full iodine-based quasi-2D perovskite films with a single red emission peak and spectral stability are designed. Additionally, through the introduction of an appropriate amount of chlorobenzene and enhancement of annealing temperature, resulting in a narrower phase distribution, the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the emission peak is significantly reduced. After optimization of the process, we fabricated quasi-2D perovskite films with pure red emission, which exhibited a PL peak at 627.9 nm and a narrow FWHM of 45.1 nm. Based on these pure red perovskite films, diverse complex patterns such as fluorescent anti-counterfeiting labels are implemented for data storage and information encryption. This study provides an effective approach toward developing quasi-2D perovskites with high color purity for high-definition purposes.

It is an effective strategy to improve the performance of quasi-two-dimensional (Q-2D) perovskite solar cells (PSCs) by introducing fluoro-substituted aromatic alkylammonium spacer cations into the active layer. Herein, the influence of the benzylammonium (BA) and the x-fluorobenzylammonium (xFBA) cation, in which x stands for the substitution position of the benzene ring (o, ortho; m, meta; p, para), on the crystal orientation, phase distribution, film morphology of the Q-2D (n = 5) perovskite films, and the corresponding device performance is systematically evaluated. The result suggests that compared with BA and oFBA, mFBA and pFBA have a larger dipole moment, forming a dense perovskite film with gradient structures where the n = 1 2D perovskite mainly exists at the top of the film and the large n-phase perovskite exists at the bottom of the film. Encouragingly, the (pFBA)2MA4Pb5I16 (MA = CH3NH3+)-based perovskite solar cells achieve the highest efficiency of 17.12%, with an open-circuit voltage of 1.175 V, a short-circuit current density of 18.50 mA cm–2, and a fill factor of 78.78%, which is significantly higher than those of BA (14.07%)-, oFBA (12.89%)-, and mFBA (14.67%)-based PSCs. Furthermore, pFBA-based devices also exhibit the best stability compared to the other three devices.
