In this paper, different doses of sodium hexametaphosphate (SHMP) were added as grinding aids in the process of muscovite grinding, and the effect of SHMP on the grinding efficiency of muscovite was studied. The grinding experiment results show that the grinding efficiency increases significantly with the increase in SHMP dosage. The mechanism of SHMP improving the grinding efficiency of muscovite was analyzed by various test methods. Experimental results showed that when SHMP was used as a grinding aid, the ordered structure of muscovite crystals was destroyed, the surface of muscovite was roughened, and obvious cracks appeared. SHMP was physically adsorbed on the muscovite powder, which effectively improved the pulp environment of muscovite powder during grinding, resulting in more dispersed muscovite powder, and improved the grinding efficiency. This study provides theoretical guidance for the efficient preparation of fine-grained muscovite powder and the action mechanism of grinding aids. Keywords:grinding aids;muscovite;sodium hexametaphosphate;pulp dispersibility
In this study, a novel method of promoting cassiterite flotation involves adding Pb-BHA (Pb(NO 3 ) 2 -benzohydroxamic acid) complexes to the cassiterite grinding process was investigated. The flotation result showed that adding Pb-BHA complexes before grinding had a marked effect on the cassiterite flotation recovery. The cassiterite flotation recovery with Pb-BHA complexes added before grinding was higher 42.80% than that of Pb-BHA complexes added after grinding. Moreover, it revealed a similar trend for artificial mixed minerals of cassiterite and quartz, in which the Sn recovery and grade of concentrate increased by 34.71% and 1.11%, respectively. The Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analysis revealed that adding Pb-BHA complexes before grinding enhanced the adsorption of Pb-BHA complexes on the cassiterite surface. And the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis demonstrated that the chemical environment of N in Pb-BHA complexes was changed in the grinding, making it more easily to adsorb on cassiterite surface.
In this study, a process of magnetizing roasting followed by magnetic separation, which is used to separate or recover tin and iron from the high calcium type tin- and iron-bearing tailings (containing 35.53 wt.% Fe and 0.56 wt.% Sn), was investigated . A magnetic concentrate containing 66.3 wt.% Fe and 0.07 wt.% Sn with an iron recovery rate of 92.9 wt.% was obtained under optimal conditions: anthracite ratio of 2.5:100, roasting temperature of 850°C, roasting time of 30 min, grinding time of 10 min, and magnetic field intensity of 0.1 T. In addition, the effect of roasting parameters on the separation of iron and tin and phase transformation of SnO2 was investigated by using X-ray powder diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy–Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy, etc.
