Herein, a novel and sensitive fluorescence method for cartap determination is established on the basis of the inner filter effect (IFE) of gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) on the fluorescence of glutathione protected Cu NCs (GSH-Cu NCs). In the presence of Au NPs, the fluorescence of GSH-Cu NCs was strongly quenched by the IFE because the absorption spectra of Au NPs overlap well with the emission spectra of GSH-Cu NCs. Upon addition of cartap, cartap could induce the aggregation of Au NPs whose absorption spectrum does not overlap with the emission spectrum of GSH-Cu NCs. Then, with the increase in cartap concentration, the IFE-decreased fluorescence was gradually recovered, realizing the fluorescence sensing of cartap. Under optimal conditions, the proposed method has a good linear relationship with cartap concentration in the range of 7–100 nM, and the detection limit is 3.34 nM. In addition, satisfactory results were obtained for cartap analysis using tap water and cabbage as real samples, which demonstrated that the method as-developed would have great practical application prospects.

Cartap is introduced for the first time as an aqueous-phase additive in PIP/TMC interfacial polymerization. • The membrane exhibits a PWP of 14.80 L·m −2 ·h −1 ·bar −1 with 97.37% Na 2 SO 4 rejection. • The membrane shows excellent antifouling performance with a FRR of 93.68%. • Simultaneous performance enhancement is achieved via optimized pore uniformity and retained electrostatic exclusion. To overcome the long-standing trade-off between water permeance and solute rejection in polyamide nanofiltration membranes and to improve their fouling resistance, cartap is introduced for the first time as an aqueous-phase additive into the interfacial polymerization system of piperazine and trimesoyl chloride in this work. It is demonstrated that cartap successfully grafts into the polyamide network (denoted as NH 2 -PA), significantly enhancing surface hydrophilicity. The optimized NH 2 -PA membrane achieves a pure water permeance of 14.80 L·m −2 ·h −1 ·bar −1 , which is 98.7% higher than that of the unmodified PA membrane, while maintaining a high Na 2 SO 4 rejection of 97.37%, thus effectively breaking the permeability-selectivity trade-off. The rejection sequence follows Na 2 SO 4 > MgSO 4 > MgCl 2 > NaCl, governed by the synergistic effects of steric hindrance and Donnan electrostatic exclusion. Moreover, the NH 2 -PA membrane exhibits excellent long-term stability over 72 h of continuous operation and superior antifouling performance, with a flux recovery ratio of 93.68% after three bovine serum albumin fouling-cleaning cycles. This work demonstrates that cartap-mediated interfacial polymerization provides a promising strategy for the simultaneous enhancement of water permeance, selectivity, and fouling resistance in polyamide nanofiltration membranes, offering a viable molecular engineering approach for water purification and desalination applications. A fluorometric method was developed for the determination of the insecticide cartap. It is based on the use of green emitting carbon dots (CDs) and gold nanoparticles (Au NPs). The CDs were prepared from phenol and ethylene diamine by a hydrothermal route. They have excitation/emission maxima at 410/513 nm) and a fluorescence quantum yield of 29%. They were characterized by TEM, Raman, XRD, XPS, FT-IR, UV and fluorescence spectroscopies. The green fluorescence of the CDs is strongly reduced by the red-colored Au NPs because of an inner filter effect. Upon addition of cartap, it will cause the aggregation of the Au NPs owing to Au-N interaction between Au NPs and cartap to form purple colored aggregates with spectra that do not overlap the green emission of the CDs. Hence, their fluorescence is restored. Under optimum conditions, the method allows for the quantitation of cartap in the 5–300 nM concentration range, and the detection limit is 3.8 nM. The method was successfully applied to the determination of cartap in spiked real samples and gave satisfactory results.

A high photoluminescence sensor based on functionalized room temperature ionic liquid-strengthened sulfur-doped carbon nanodots (IL-strengthened S-Cdots) is developed by a one-pot strategy. It facilitates real-time monitoring of cartap (CP) by a turn-off photoluminescence signal. The introduction of the ionic liquid 1-vinyl-3-butylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (VBimBF4B) is beneficial to improve the photoluminescence quantum yield and stability of the photoluminescence sensor. VBimBF4B also uses methacrylic acid as the selected receptor to recognize cartap by the specific interaction of hydrogen bonding. The fluorescent response for cartap detection has a linear range between 1 μg L−1 and 100 μg L−1, and the detection limit is 0.86 μg L−1. The photoluminescence sensor shows better selectivity for cartap compared with other interference components. The developed method has been used for optosensing of cartap in complex food matrices, such as Chinese cabbage, cabbage, rapeseed, apple and pear, with a recovery of 78–99% and an observed RSD of 0.7–2.1% for three replicate measurements. These findings indicate the excellent ability of the prepared IL-strengthened S-Cdots to recognize cartap in complex food matrices and the potential of this method for application in cartap detection.

Cartap is among the most popular pesticides that are widely used to boost food production, however, its residues pose a great threat to human health and the environment. We presented simple and effective colorimetric sensor based on aggregation of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) with appropriate diameter and fluorescent sensor via inner filter effect (IFE) of AuNPs on cadmium telluride quantum dots (CdTe QDs), respectively. Firstly, effect of diameter of AuNPs was investigated and the results indicated that AuNPs with diameter of 13 nm (AuNPs 1 3 nm ) showed better sensitivity toward cartap. Thus, AuNPs 1 3 nm was chosen for colorimetric and fluorescent cartap assay. On one hand, mercaptoacetic acid (MA) was functionalized on AuNPs 1 3 nm for the improvement of anti-disturbance ability for discrimination study. A decent linear relationship for cartap was obtained in the range from 1 μ M to 50 μ M with detection limit of 1.32 μ M for colorimetric readout; on the other hand, fluorescent sensor based on AuNPs 1 3 nm displayed excellent linear relationship with cartap concentration varying from 20 nM to 100 nM with low detection limit of 4.02 nM. And the above-mentioned sensor showed acceptable anti-disturbance ability for cartap discrimination. These results demonstrated that the sensor as-developed would be a great potential candidate for cartap detection in real application.
