Insulin Icodec is a once‑weekly ultra‑long‑acting basal insulin analog. It binds strongly and reversibly to human serum albumin and exhibits a long plasma half‑life. Insulin Icodec modulates insulin receptor activity, controls blood glucose levels and reduces HbA1c levels. It is used to study hyperglycemia caused by type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and can be applied in researches of type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
Structure: Insulin Icodec consists of two peptide chains. The A‑chain contains 21 amino acids with A14 substitution. The B‑chain lacks threonine at position B30 compared with human insulin B‑chain and contains 29 amino acids with substitutions at B16 and B25. The ε‑amino group of Lys(B29) forms an amide bond with the modifying side‑chain: L‑γ‑glutamic acid‑two oligo‑ethylene glycol units‑icosanedioic diacid. Three conserved disulfide‑bonds: A6‑A11, A7‑B7, A20‑B19.
