Ag nanoparticles decorated Polyaniline (PANI)/graphitic carbon nitride (g-C 3 N 4 ) composite was fabricated as active electrode materials for supercapacitors via an in-situ oxidative polymerization. Morphology and structure of Ag/PANI/g-C 3 N 4 composite were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The supercapacitive behavior of the electrode material was tested in a three electrode system using 1.0 M H 2 SO 4 electrolyte. The results indicated that the Ag/PANI/g-C 3 N 4 composite delivered a high specific capacitance of 797.8 F g −1 and an excellent capacitance retention of 84.43% after 1000 cycles at an applied current density of 1 A g −1 . Ragone plot was derived and compared which showed enhanced supercapacitive performance of Ag/PANI/g-C3N4. The composite should be ideal potential electrode materials for high-performance and effective supercapacitors.

To develop photocatalysts with desirable compositions and structures for improving the efficiency and selectivity of CO2 conversion to CH4 under mild conditions is of great importance. Here, we design an effective photocatalyst of bimetal (Ag/Pd) nanoalloys supported on nitrogen-doped TiO2 nanosheet for CO2 conversion. Such a novel photocatalyst combines multiple advantages of abundant Ti3+ ions, oxygen vacancies, and substitutional nitrogen that are favorable for catalyzing CO2 reduction. It was found that CO2 could be efficiently transformed to CH4 under mild conditions, i.e., in aqueous solution and at atmospheric pressure and room temperature. The maximum production rate of CH4 can reach 79.0 μmol g–1 h–1. Moreover, the Ag/Pd bimetals supported on N-doped TiO2 nanosheet exhibit high selectivity to CH4. The as-synthesized photocatalyst can be well recycled for CO2 reduction.

The detection of Ag+ in the environment is very important to determine the level of pollution from silver complexes, which have caused various human health problems. Herein, an aggregation-induced emission (AIE) chromophore (tetraphenylethane, TPE) attached to a benzimidazole group (tetra-benzimidazole, TBI–TPE) is synthesized and utilized to detect Ag+ in the environment. The strong chelating effect between the benzimidazole group and Ag+ leads to the formation of aggregates, and strong yellow fluorescence signals were observed after adding Ag+ into a TBI–TPE solution. The stoichiometry of the complex of TBI–TPE and Ag+ was established to be 1 : 2 using photochemical and mass spectra measurements. The detection limit of the Ag+ assay is 90 nM with a linear range from 100 nM to 6 μM. This study provides a facile method to determine Ag+ in real environmental samples with satisfactory results.

Hydrogen is considered as a promising energy source because of its high combustion heat and clean products. Among the various hydrogen evolution methods, electrocatalysis is the most convenient and effective way. However it is still problematic to find low-cost and high-efficiency electrocatalysts. In this work, Os-Ag-Si and Os-Au-Si ternary electrocatalysts were investigated. It is interesting that Os-Ag-Si exhibits higher hydrogen evolution performance than that of Os-Au-Si, even though Ag is a worse HER catalyst than Au. The optimal ternary catalyst Os-Ag-Si with mass ratio of 15:15:70 (Os:Ag:Si) was synthesized by a facile Si H bond reduction method, which shows superior hydrogen evolution reaction performance with a low Tafel slope of 40 mV·dec −1 . In addition, the current density of Os-Ag-Si-15 catalyst surpasses that of 20% Pt/C when the overpotential is larger than 160 mV. The introduction of Ag in the Os-Ag-Si ternary catalyst could enhance the electrocatalytic activity, reduce the cost of catalysts, and even be better than Os-Au-Si.

Industrial wastewater contains large amounts of silver ions. Here, a new adsorbent was synthesized by functionalizing poly(glycidyl methacrylate) with carboxymethyl groups. The adsorbent was used to recover Ag(I) in wastewater. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, zeta potential, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy were used to characterize the adsorbent. The experimental parameters affecting the adsorption are solution pH, contact time, and initial silver ion concentration. The optimum pH for adsorption of Ag(I) is pH 4. The maximum adsorption capacity at pH 4 is 157.05 mg/g, and the adsorption reaches equilibrium at 300 min. The kinetics and isotherms of the adsorption process were described by pseudo second-order, Langmuir and D-R models, respectively. The adsorption process was a single layer chemical adsorption, exothermic, feasible, and spontaneous. The adsorption mechanism is electrostatic or chelation. The adsorbent selectively absorbed Ag(I) from coexisting ions (Cu2+, Ni2+, Co2+, Zn2+). Finally, the removal rate of silver ions decreased from 79.29% to 65.01% after four repetitive experiments, which proved that the adsorbent had good reusability. The adsorbent has great potential benefit in removing Ag(I).Keywords:polymer;Ag (I), removal;mechanism;adsorption

Cu-Ag particles with different molar ratios have been prepared in the hyperbranched polyester matrix using ascorbic acid as a reducing agent. The third generation hyperbranched polyester has been synthesized by step by step polymerization using the first generation hyperbranched polyester as core molecular and 2, 2-dimethylol propionic acid as branched monomer. The synthesized hyperbranched polyester and Cu-Ag alloy were characterized by FT-IR, 1 H-NMR, UV-vis spectra, X-ray diffraction (XRD), SEM, Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX), Laser particle size measurement, TEM, etc. The XRD and EDX studies confirm the formation of Cu-Ag alloy. Laser particle size measurement, SEM and TEM studies show that the particles of the Cu-Ag alloy are well-dispersed with average size of 120 nm. The thermal properties of the Cu-Ag alloy have been studied by thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA). The results show that the measurement values are close to the theoretical ones.

In this work, a label-free Ag nanocluster (AgNC)-based fluorescent probe is proposed to detect tumor marker, prostate-specific antigen (PSA). In the experiments, DNA sequences containing segments complemented to different parts of PSA aptamer were used to synthesize DNA-Ag nanoclusters (DNA-AgNC). Some of the obtained specific DNA-AgNC exhibited significant fluorescence increase after hybridization with PSA aptamer. Based on this, a simple DNA-AgNC/aptamer hybridization probe was fabricated for PSA detection using fluorescence quenching, because competitively specific binding between PSA and its aptamer inhibited the fluorescence enhancement effect of PSA aptamer on DNA-AgNC. The sequence of template DNA, pH and salt concentration of binding buffer, and the concentration of aptamer were optimized. Under optimum conditions, the concentration of PSA within the range of 2–150 ng mL −1 with the detection limit of 1.14 ng mL −1 was detected (3σ; n = 7). This approach was also successfully applied to determine PSA in spiked serum samples. As is well known, this was the first report to realize PSA detection using fluorescent AgNC-based probe. This work would provide reference for construction of AgNC-based probes for detecting other proteins.

The goal of this paper is to develop a bactericidal photocatalyst silver/polydopamine/graphitic carbon nitride (Ag/PDA/g-C3N4) as a new type of antibacterial material with high activity, superstability, and excellent biocompatibility. Small Ag NPs (3.6–10.5 nm) disperse uniformly on the PDA-modified g-C3N4 sheets. This biophotocatalyst has excellent antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, including low MIC100%Ag of 9.5 ppm and MBC100%Ag of 6.3 ppm but also a low cytotoxicity for human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) because of biocompatible PDA. After 30 days in an air environment, only 0.18% of Ag+ was detected, which indicated the superstability of this biophotocatalyst compared with the state-of the-art antibacterial materials. The possible bactericidal mechanism is the synergistic effect between photocatalytic PDA-modified g-C3N4 and active Ag NPs. The Ag NPs themselves have strong antibacterial activity due to their small sizes. Importantly, under light irradiation, the surface plasmonic effect of Ag NPs and the incorporation of PDA enhance the photocatalytic activity of g-C3N4 significantly by increasing its light absorption, improving photoconductivity for photogenerated electrons and holes, and inhibiting their recombination. As a result, the sufficient radicals such as •OH and O2•– radicals can be formed. The radicals, particularly •OH, together with holes, can accelerate the death of bacteria through the destruction of biomolecules.

Printing technology offers a simple and cost-effective opportunity to develop all-printed stretchable circuits and electronic devices, possibly providing ubiquitous, low-cost, and flexible devices. To successfully prepare high-aspect-ratio Ag nanowires (NWs), we used water and anhydrous ethanol as the solvent and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as the viscosity regulator to obtain a water-soluble Ag NWs conductive ink with good printability. Flexible and stretchable fabric electrodes were directly fabricated through screen printing. After curing at room temperature, the sheet resistance of the Ag NW fabric electrode was 1.5 Ω/sq. Under a tensile strain of 0–80% and with 20% strains applied for 200 cycles, good conductivity was maintained, which was attributed to the inherent flexibility of the Ag NWs and the intrinsic structure of the interlocked texture. Keywords:stretchable electronics;Ag nanowires;screen printing;flexible electronics;printed electronics

In this work, surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) technology coupled with Ag nanowires was shown to be a promising tool in the detection of tartrazine in large yellow croaker for the first time. Ag nanowires with a uniform diameter were fabricated by an efficient and manageable polyol method. The partial least square model was established for the quantitative analysis of tartrazine, which showed a relatively high linear correlation between actual and predicted concentrations of standard tartrazine solutions. An optimal sample preparation method was also selected and used to extract tartrazine from large yellow croaker within 20 min. The lowest concentration detected was 20.38 ng/cm2, which fully meets the requirements of tartrazine testing in aquatic products. This study indicated that SERS technology combined with the as-prepared Ag nanowires could detect tartrazine sensitively and provide an easily operable and time-saving way to monitor tartrazine in large yellow croaker. Keywords:SERS;Ag nanowires;tartrazine;large yellow croaker

In this study, a novel Ag/Bi3O4Cl photocatalyst has been synthesized by a facile photodeposition process. Its photocatalytic performance was evaluated from the degradation of tetracycline (TC) under visible light irradiation (λ > 420 nm). The 1.0 wt% Ag/Bi3O4Cl photocatalyst could significantly enhance the degradation of TC compared with pure Bi3O4Cl, with the degradation level reaching 94.2% in 120 minutes. The enhancement of photocatalytic activity could be attributed to the synergetic effect of the photogenerated electrons (e−) of Bi3O4Cl and the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) caused by Ag nanoparticles, which could improve the absorption capacity of visible light and facilitate the separation of photogenerated electron–hole pairs. In addition, electron spin resonance (ESR) analysis and trapping experiments demonstrated that the superoxide radicals (˙O2−), hydroxyl radicals (˙OH) and holes (h+) played crucial roles in the photocatalytic process of TC degradation. The present work provides a promising approach for the development of highly efficient photocatalysts to address current environmental pollution, energy issues and other related areas.
