A series of new visible and near-infrared (NIR) luminescent lanthanide-hydroxybenz[de]anthracen derivatives (Ln(HBAN) 3 (H 2 O) 2 (NO 3 ) 3 , Ln(HBAN) 3 phen(NO 3 ) 3 ) were synthesized (HBAN-6-hydroxybenz[de]anthracen-7-one, Ln = Eu, Yb, Nd). Further, chemically bonded lanthanide hybrids of functionalized mesoporous silica (SBA-15) are prepared using HBAN-functionalized alkoxysilane (HBAN-Si) as linker, which is named as Ln(HBAN-SBA-15) 3 (NO 3 ) 3 , Ln(HBAN-SBA-15) 3 phen(NO 3 ) 3 (Ln = Eu, Yb, Nd), respectively. The physical characterization and especially the photoluminescence properties for these hybrids are performed. SAXRD and BET of them revealed that all of these hybrid materials have uniformity in the mesostructure. Worth noting here is that the excitation spectra of these hybrid materials are extended to visible light region (439–535 nm). Upon ligand-mediated excitation with the ultraviolet and visible light, the visible luminescence for europium hybrids and NIR luminescence for Yb 3+ and Nd 3+ hybrids are obtained.

Al-SBA-15 containing plug structures inside straight channels have been hydrothermally synthesized through a one-step synthesis strategy in an environmentally friendly acid-free medium. The effects of steaming, alkali, and acid post-treatments on the structural properties were investigated by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), nitrogen adsorption–desorption at 77 K, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), FT-IR spectrum, 27 Al MAS NMR, and inductively coupled plasma (ICP) analyses. The presence of the plugs can significantly enhance structural stability against steaming or alkali post-treatments. Acid post-treatment can be a very simple and convenient technique for adjusting the textural properties of plug-containing Al-SBA-15, and especially for optimizing the accessibility to active sites. Acid post-treatment at the low temperatures of 313 and 323 K results in the formation of a larger specific surface area (905 m 2 /g) and pore volume (0.94 cm 3 /g) through an “open door” effect in the plugs, without eliminating any of the plugs from the channels. In particular, nearly half of the secondary micropores on the pore walls were preserved. In contrast, raising the acid post-treatment temperature further to 333 and 343 K caused a “closed doors” effect through the blockage of pores in the plugs by the extracted fragments. After loading with nickel, the catalyst exhibited a higher yield of C 10+ olefins in ethylene oligomerization , and more importantly, after steaming and acid post-treatments at higher temperatures, the samples showed shape selectivity for the C 16 olefin.

The immobilization of enzymes is an important strategy to improve their stability and reusability. However, it often comes with a trade off of reduced biological activity and catalytic efficiency. In this study, a composite hydrogel based on corn stalk carboxymethyl cellulose, acrylic acid, and mesoporous silica SBA-15 was developed as a support for the immobilization of lipase from Pseudomonas S.P. (PSL). The surface morphology and functional properties of the composite hydrogels were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared, X-ray diffraction and simultaneous thermal analyzer, respectively. The composite hydrogel materials had a large number of mesopores and macropores were present in the wall of the hydrogel sheet. The hydrogel had a network structure that reduced the diffusion resistance of the substrate and improved the accessibility of the enzyme. The immobilized PSL exhibited high enantioselectivity (E value: 88.2) and enzyme activity (316.8 µmol/g/min) in the preparation of (S)-ibuprofen by enzymatic hydrolytic resolution of racemic ibuprofen ethyl ester. This prepared novel composite hydrogel is a promising supporting matrix for the immobilization of enzymes.

A series of Cu/SBA-15 catalysts with different Cu loadings are prepared by the ammonia evaporation method for the liquid-phase hydrogenation of furfural (FF) to furfuryl alcohol (FA). The results show that the supported Cu loading influences the structure and catalytic activity during FF hydrogenation. The 20Cu/SBA-15 catalyst shows the optimum performance with 99.3 % FF conversion, 99.0 % selectivity to FA, nearly pure FA product, and a turnover frequency reaching up to 81.7h −1 . The effect of Cu loading can be related to Cu dispersion and the interaction between the metal and support, which further promotes the surface Cu + /Cu 0 ratio. Additionally, the correlation of FF conversion with Cu + /Cu 0 ratio confirms that the excellent performance of 20Cu/SBA-15 is mainly derived from the synergy of Cu + and Cu 0 species, although the range of performance is not large. Finally, the optimal reaction conditions are screened using a reaction temperature of 150 °C, a reaction pressure of 4 MPa, a catalyst dosage of 0.1 g, and a reaction time of 60 min. The present study confirms that the Cu loading has a significant effect on the structure of Cu/SBA-15 and nearly pure objective FF product can be feasibly obtained with an appropriate Cu support in the synthesis of FA from FF hydrogenation.

The dissociation of water is essential to water gas shift (WGS) reaction, and the presence of oxygen vacancies can facilitate this key step. Herein, a series of perovskite supported Pd single atoms catalysts were prepared via deposition precipitation method. The incorporation of Pd single atoms can effectively promote the formation of oxygen vacancy on the surface of the catalyst, improving the low temperature reducibility, the ratio of Mn 4 + /Mn 3+ and O ads /O lat compared with support. Among all samples, 0.82 Pd/La 0.5 Ca 0.5 MnO 3 /SBA-15 with the most oxygen vacancies presented 83.6 % CO conversion at 400 °C, specific reaction rate (0.54 mol CO g Pd −1 h −1 ), and TOF (3.77✕10 −2 s −1 ). DFT calculation proved that Pd doping can effectively decreased energy barrier of H 2 O dissociation, and promoted the formation of oxygen vacancies. This work provides experimental and theoretical insights into the rational design of highly active perovskite supported Pd single atom catalysts for WGS reaction.

Vinyl-functionalized SBA-15 was synthesised using a one-pot co-condensation method followed by carboxylation via nitric acid, with the intermediate product named SBA-15C. MIL-68 was then synthesised in-situ by adsorption of Al 3 + ions via carboxylate groups on SBA-15C to give the composite xMIL-68(Al)@SBA-15C. A series of characterizations were conducted by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Brunner-Emmet-Teller measurements, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Scanning electron microscope, and Transmission Electron Microscope. xMIL-68(Al)@SBA-15C maintained robust catalytic performance in the NaBH 4 -mediated reduction of 4-nitrophenol to 4-aminophenol, with no significant decrease in activity after five cycles of reuse.

The development of efficient metal-modified core–shell molecular sieve catalysts for the catalytic co-pyrolysis of lignin and plastics to produce aromatics is an effective way to achieve high-value utilization of waste materials. In this study, x-Fe@HZSM-5/SBA-15 (x-Fe@H/S) catalysts (x represents Si/Al) of HZSM-5 cores with Fe-Si-Al as the backbone were synthesized by isomorphous substitution and covered with an SBA-15 shell. The effects of the Si/Al ratio and Fe isomorphously substituted Al in the catalysts on the product distribution, and the formation characteristics of aromatics were investigated during the co-pyrolysis of dealkalized lignin (DL) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE). The catalyst’s cyclic regeneration performance was also analyzed. The results indicated that the pore size and acidic site distribution of the catalysts could be regulated by the Si/Al ratio, thereby promoting aromatics formation. Among them, 50-Fe@H/S exhibited the best performance, with high activity, appropriate mesopore size, and moderate acidity (0.25 mmol/g), achieving the highest bio-oil content (20.54 wt%) and aromatics content (25.96 area%). Meanwhile, the regenerated 50-Fe@H/S maintained satisfactory catalytic performance. Based on the experimental results, the aromatics formation pathways during catalytic co-pyrolysis over x-Fe@H/S were proposed, and the effects of Fe incorporation were analyzed using density functional theory.

This work presents a simple P123-based quaternary templating system using titanyl sulfate (TS) as the TiO2 precursor and self-contained sulfuric acid as the catalyst (TS/TEOS/P123/H2O). A unique structural configuration of SBA-15-type mesopore frameworks embedded with high-content TiO2 nanoparticles can be directly obtained. Even with a high TiO2 content (29.1 wt %), well-defined mesostructures free of pore blocking can be secured. A new structural formation mechanism is unveiled: a self-assembly process between inorganic species and P123 micelles yields ordered mesostructures catalyzed by self-contained TS in the low-temperature step, while sol–gel reaction and crystallization of TS coincide with processes of mesostructural re-organization and partial evacuation of P123 from mesopores. The incorporation of high-content TiO2 nanoparticles into mesopore frameworks mainly happens during the hydrothermal treatment step. Not surprisingly, thanks to well-defined mesostructures containing high-content accessible TiO2 nanoparticles, such TiO2/SBA-15 composites show high activity and good reusability in photodegrading Rhodamine B and humic acids and photoreducing highly toxic Cr6+ in water under UV irradiation.

The huge energy consumption of rich amine solution regeneration severely restricts the large-scale application and promotion of the CO2 capture process by the amine method. In order to reduce the operating energy consumption during the CO2 capture process using amines, especially the energy consumption of absorbent regeneration, zeolite β/SBA-15 (BS) has been synthesized in this work using the hydrothermal method with zeolite beta (β) as the silicon source; β was used to prepare the novel Zr@BS and Fe–Zr@BS catalysts for amine regeneration. Experiments for CO2 stripping were performed at 370.15 K using amine solvent [monoethanolamine (MEA)] with an initial CO2 loading of 0.50 mol CO2/mol amine. Additionally, all the materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, N2 adsorption–desorption experiment, ammonia temperature-programmed desorption, and pyridine adsorption infrared spectroscopy. Also, the catalytic CO2 desorption performances of seven different catalysts (β, SBA-15, three BS catalysts, Zr@BS, and Fe–Zr@BS) were investigated and assessed from the aspects of the cyclic capacity, desorption rate, and energy consumption. Experimental results indicated that the Fe–Zr@BS catalysts exhibited superior catalytic behaviors than other catalysts studied in this work, improving the desorption factor of MEA solution by 212% and bringing down the energy heat by 33% compared with 5 M MEA solution without catalysts. Furthermore, the Fe–Zr@BS catalysts show good stability and easy regeneration and do not influence absorption performance of the amine solution. Moreover, the possible catalytic mechanism for amine regeneration was proposed, and the stability of the material in terms of the structure of the material and the regeneration heat duty were also studied.

The feasible, reliable and selective multi-template molecularly imprinted polymers (MT-MIPs) based on SBA-15 (SBA-15@MT-MIPs) for the selective separation and determination of the trace level of ginsenoside Rb1(Rb1), ginsenoside Rg1(Rg1) and notoginsenoside R1(R1) simultaneously from biological samples were developed. The polymers were constructed by SBA-15 as support, Rb1, Rg1, R1as multi-template, acrylamide (AM) as functional monomer and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as cross-linker. The new synthetic SBA-15@MT-MIPs were satisfactorily applied to solid-phase extraction (SPE) coupled with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) for the separation and determination of trace Rb1, Rg1and R1in plasma samples. Under the optimized conditions, the limits of detection (LODs) and quantitation (LOQs) of the proposed method for Rb1, Rg1and R1were in the range of 0.63–0.75 ng·mL−1and 2.1–2.5 ng·mL−1, respectively. The recoveries of R1, Rb1and Rg1were obtained between 93.4% and 104.3% with relative standard deviations (RSDs) in the range of 3.3–4.2%. All results show that the obtained SBA-15@MT-MIPs could be a promising prospect for the practical application in the selective separation and enrichment of tracePanax notoginsengsaponins (PNS) in the biological samples.Keywords:multi-template molecularly imprinted polymers;SBA-15;Panax notoginsengsaponins;separation and determination;solid-phase extraction

Both zeolite A/L and SBA-15 have been used to assemble novel photofunctional multi-component lanthanide hybrid materials. Microporous zeolites A/L are first functionalized by embedding lanthanide or zinc complexes (TTA = thenoyltrifluoroacetone, TAA = trifluoroacetone, bipy = 2,2′-bipyridyl) into the pores of zeolite A/L, and then the surface of functionalized zeolite A/L is modified via covalent linkers from aromatic carboxylic acids (para-aminobenzoic acid ABA and para-hydroxyl benzoic acid HBA) grafted by 3-(triethoxysilyl)-propyl isocyanate (TEPIC). On the other hand, SBA-15 is modified by grafting covalent linker phen-Si from the modification of 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) with TEPIC. Further, another lanthanide ion is used to link both functionalized zeolites, A/L and SBA-15, through the coordination with the two covalent linkers, ABS-Si (HBA-Si) and phen-Si, respectively. Subsequently, the obtained multicomponent microporous–mesoporous hybrid materials are assembled and characterized using XRD, FT-IR, UV-vis DRS, SEM, TEM and luminescent approaches (spectra, lifetimes and quantum efficiencies). These hybrids with both microporous zeolite and SBA-15 mesoporous host possess favourable luminescent performance and some hybrid systems present the high quantum efficiencies of 90%. Besides, the luminescent color can be tuned by adjusting the composition of these hybrids, among which four hybrids (S-phen-Eu-HBA-[ZA-Tb-bipy], S-phen-Eu-HBA-[ZA-Zn-bipy], S-phen-Eu-ABA-[ZA-Tb-TAA], S-phen-Eu-ABA-[ZL-Tb-bipy]) can be integrated to white light emission.

Metal-organic framework (MOF)-based composites have received significant attention for catalytic applications and are believed excellent heterogeneous catalysts. In this article, we prepared a new type of material, HPW@MOF-199/SBA-15C (PMS-15C). For this material, the MOF-199 encapsulating Keggin-type phosphotungstic acid (HPW) was grown inside the pores of the SBA-15 functionalized by carboxylic acids. The N 2 adsorption-desorption isotherms and pore size distributions, X-ray powder diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy analyses showed that the PMS-15C composites had an ordered two-dimensional hexagonal mesoporous structure, in which HPW encapsulating by MOF-199 loaded into the SBA-15C. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy indicated that HPW was successfully loaded, and the Keggin structure of HPW in PMS-15C remained unchanged. With the reaction of acetic acid and ethanol, the catalytic performance of PMS-15C was studied. Under the optimal conditions, ethyl acetate yield reached 81.4 %. The forward reaction rate was 0.432 mL mol −1 min −1 , and the activation energy was 38.35 kJ mol −1 . And the data were found to be consistent with the second-order reversible reaction kinetic model. The catalytic activity of the PMS-15C-0.2 composites remained stable after five catalytic cycles. In addition, the esterification of n-octanol/acetic acid and ethanol/oleic acid were studied using PMS-15C-0.2 as the catalyst. The results suggested that the catalytic activity of PMS-15C-0.2 was weakened upon increasing the substrates’ alkyl chain length.
