Halide perovskites have attracted increasing attention in recent years as promising materials for optoelectronic devices. Herein, we report the use of a one-step spin-coating method for the preparation of all-inorganic CsPbBr3 perovskite thin film photodetectors. For the preparation of devices, the all-inorganic CsPbBr3 perovskite thin films were applied onto the interdigitated (IDT) patterned Au electrodes, and symmetrically structured photoconductive detectors were obtained. Photoresponse analysis reveals that a high photoresponsivity of 55 A W−1, an on/off photocurrent ratio of 1.06 × 105, a specific detectivity of up to 0.9 × 1013 Jones, an external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 16 700%, and a fast response speed of 430/318 μs were achieved in the fabricated CsPbBr3 photodetectors. Such performances are much better than those of most perovskite photodetectors from CsPbBr3 nanocrystals, and comparable with the highest results reported on organic–inorganic perovskite photodetectors. This work opens up an exciting opportunity for using all-inorganic perovskites for high-performance and low-cost photodetection applications.

Lead halide perovskite nanocrystals are highly valued in optoelectronics for their high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) and tunable bandgap. However, producing blue-emitting CsPbBr3 quantum dots (QDs) with high PLQY, a narrow emission bandgap (<30 nm), and a size-tunable energy bandgap is still challenging. Herein, we developed a microfluidic chip strategy to achieve a controllable, continuous, and stable synthesis of CsPbBr3 QDs, optimizing multidimensional parameters such as the precursor solution concentration, reaction time, temperature, and the Cs/Pb mole precursor ratio to enhance the properties of the synthesized material. The blue-emitting CsPbBr3 QDs with a sharp emission wavelength of 472 nm can be synthesized and their PLQY value reaches up to 41.9%, which is the highest value achieved using the microfluidic chip method for synthesizing blue-emitting CsPbBr3 QDs. Notably, this strategy enables the synthesis of CsPbBr3 QDs with an emission spectrum ranging from blue to green (463 nm to 522 nm). This work elucidates the synthetic kinetics of perovskite QDs via the microfluidic reaction and highlights microfluidics as a promising technique for scalable and high-quality nanocrystal fabrication.

All-inorganic perovskites (CsPbX3, X = Br, Cl, I) have been considered as promising candidates for developing high-performance, flexible and lightweight optoelectronic devices due to their high absorption coefficient, mechanical durability, low-temperature synthesis ability and stable physiochemical properties. However, the fabrication of pinhole-free, large-scale inorganic perovskite films is still a great challenge, because it is limited by strong chemical bonds and really low solubility, impeding their application in flexible solar cells, photodetectors and light emitting diodes. In this paper, a vacuum-filtration method to deposit large-scale, compact all-inorganic perovskite films from nanosheet suspensions on arbitrary porous substrates, which allows control of the uniformity and thickness of the perovskite films, is reported. The performance of the fabricated flexible-photodetectors was greatly improved by adding a proper amount of carbon nanotube (CNT) additive, which could maintain the low dark current density and increase the photo-responsivity by suppressing the photocarrier recombination. The improved photodetectors showed a large on/off ratio of >1 × 104, and a fast rise/decay time of 52/14 ms. These flexible photodetectors demonstrated excellent mechanical bending capabilities with retained performance after 1000 bending cycles. This deposition method could provide a universal route for preparing inorganic material films for fundamental studies and practical applications.

Efficient inorganic perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) with an ultrathin perovskite emission layer (∼30 nm) were realized by doping Lewis base polyethylene glycol (PEG) into CsPbBr3 films. PEG in the perovskite films not only physically fills the crystal boundaries but also interacts with the perovskite crystals to passivate the crystal grains, reduce nonradiative recombination, and ensure efficient luminance and high efficiency. As a result, promoted brightness, current efficiency (CE), and external quantum efficiency (EQE) were achieved. The nonradiative decay rate of the PEG:CsPbBr3 composite film is 1 order of magnitude less than that of the neat CsPbBr3 film. After further optimization of the molar ratio between CsBr and PbBr2, a peak CE of 19 cd/A, a maximum EQE of 5.34%, and a maximum brightness of 36600 cd/m2 were achieved, demonstrating the interaction between PEG and the precursors. The results are expected to offer some helpful implications in optimizing the polymer-assisted PeLEDs with ultrathin emission layers, which might have potential application in see-through displays.

All-inorganic perovskite quantum dots (QDs) (CsPbX 3 , X = Cl, Br, I) have shown great promise in optoelectronic applications but are severely hindered by their poor environmental stability and photoluminescence (PL) quenching. In this work, we report a novel approach for enhancing both stability and optical performance by insitu growth of CsPbBr 3 QDs within a borosilicate glass matrix, assisted by SrF 2 and Sm 2 O 3 codoping. The introduction of F − ions from SrF 2 modifies the glass network structure, promoting uniform nucleation and growth of QDs. Simultaneously, Sm 3+ doping, through partial incorporation into the CsPbBr 3 QD lattice, passivates surface defects and induces lattice contraction, which enhances quantum confinement effects. At the optimal Sm 3+ concentration of 1 mol%, the PL intensity increases by 332.8%, the photoluminescence quantum yield rises from 22.01% to 37.5%, and the fluorescence lifetime extends from 95.05 to 127.69 ns. The glass encapsulation provides long-term air and water stability, outperforming conventional ligand-capped QDs. Moreover, the developed materials were successfully applied in high-brightness green and white light-emitting diodes, achieving wide color gamut coverage (up to 129.4% NTSC), and demonstrated strong potential in forensic fingerprint visualization. These results provide a new pathway for developing stable, multifunctional perovskite-based optoelectronic materials. Graphical This study demonstrates a dual strategy of F − /Sm³ + codoping and glass encapsulation to significantly enhance the luminescence performance and stability of CsPbBr 3 quantum dots. Optimal Sm³ + doping (1 mol%) yields a 332.8% increase in photoluminescence intensity, improves quantum efficiency from 22% to 37.5%, and extends fluorescence lifetime to 127.69 ns. The glass matrix provides exceptional environmental stability, retaining 78.65% initial luminescence after 50 days in air. Resulting light-emitting diode devices achieve a wide color gamut covering 129.4% of the NTSC standard.

Controlling the orientation of perovskite nanoplatelets (NPLs) is critical to realize their benefits in improving outcoupling and achieving polarized light emission. Herein, we report an approach to finely tune the orientation of CsPbBr 3 perovskite NPL superlattices by partially substituting native ligands with organo-ammonium bromide ligands, enabling systematic modulation of NPL orientation from face down to edge up. Using a long-chain organic backbone (oleylammonium) favors the edge-up orientation, leading to a higher degree of linear polarization. Through in situ photoluminescence measurements, we show that these long-chain organo-ammonium bromide ligands sterically hinder growth, resulting in smaller NPLs that are easier to orient edge up. On the other hand, with shorter-chain ligands (butylammonium), NPLs are larger with weaker inter-ligand interactions, favoring a face-down orientation that improves outcoupling and the efficiency of blue NPL light-emitting diodes. The principles for orientation control demonstrated here are generalizable and allow the multifunctionality of anisotropic nanocrystals to be harnessed.

In this work, CsPbBr3/Cs4PbBr6@glass composites were synthesized by incorporating lead carbonate (PbCO3) into a lithium–aluminum–silicate–boron (Li–Al–Si–B) glass matrix. PbCO3 decomposes to PbO, which reacts in situ with melt Br to form PbBr2, triggering CsPbBr3/Cs4PbBr6 nucleation in Br-rich microdomains; CO2 release concurrently creates stress-relieving micropores, outperforming direct PbBr2 addition. This composite exhibited remarkable photoluminescence properties, with a photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) reaching as high as 86.71%. In an accelerated aging experiment conducted over 120 h, the fluorescence intensity was maintained at 95% of its original value. Even after 60 days of immersion in water, the luminescence intensity remained at 94% of the initial intensity, demonstrating its outstanding resistance to environmental degradation. To further explore its potential for display applications, we prepared a CsPbBr3/Cs4PbBr6/CsPbBrI2@glass@polystyrene (PS) film. This film exhibited an impressive color gamut, covering 123% of the National Television System Committee (NTSC) 1953 standard and 91.3% of the ITU-R Recommendation BT.2020 (Rec.2020) standard. The high PLQY and excellent stability of CsPbBr3/Cs4PbBr6@glass make it highly suitable for LCD applications and offer broad prospects for industrial-scale production.

For next-generation high-definition displays, the newly recommendation 2020 (Rec. 2020) standard calls for the emission wavelength of green emitters to be kept at 525–535 nm with narrow emission line width below 25 nm. All-inorganic lead halide perovskite CsPbBr3 nanocrystals (NCs) with sharp emission seem as the prefect one to match the call, however, it is a great challenge to tune their emission wavelength to the target window of 525–535 nm because of the intrinsic band gap of CsPbBr3. Herein, we report a facile strategy to prepare CsPbBr3 NCs with finely tunable emissions in the narrow range of 525–535 nm by establishing a CsPbBr3–Cs4PbBr6:Na Type II structure. The doping of the Na ions is the key factor to construct the Type II structure, which induces the formation of the Cs4PbBr6:Na phase and builds CsPbBr3–Cs4PbBr6:Na Type II structure, leading to the tunable emission wavelength of CsPbBr3 NCs. The as-synthesized CsPbBr3 NCs exhibit an ideal emission at 525–535 nm with a narrow emission line width of 23 nm and a high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of 85%. As a green downconverter, an ultrapure green backlight covers 97% of the Rec. 2020 standard in the CIE 1931 color space, representing the “greenest” backlight up to now.

Perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) with different sizes, which are close to the exciton radius, exhibit a weak quantum confinement effect (QCE) and have a huge potential in the optoelectronic fields. Herein, CsPbBr3 NCs with radius of 7.2, 9.1, and 10.7 nm have been synthesized, and their photo-physical properties have been investigated in detail. The carrier decay behavior, involving the monomolecular exciton recombination and biexciton Auger recombination process, is observed in the CsPbBr3 NCs, and they are affected by the energy dissipation process related to phonon energy in perovskite NCs, in which the contribution of weak QCE has been analyzed. The spectral characteristics affected by pressure show that the phase transition from cubic phase to orthogonal phase may happen in the CsPbBr3 NCs and the corresponding knee point gradually enhances with the weakening of QCE. Moreover, the step effect of photoluminescence (PL) induced by pressure gradually broadens at the knee point as the QCE weakens. In addition, the light wave guiding effect of these CsPbBr3 NCs has been analyzed, exhibiting that self-absorption effect and the conventional light-wave-guiding effect can be responsible for the decay of PL at different excitation positions. Our results analyze the carrier decay, energy evolution, and light-wave-guiding properties of CsPbBr3 NCs with weak QCE, which broaden the understanding of CsPbBr3 NCs and enrich their application in the field of photo-communication.

It has been a universal route for enhanced photoelectric performance in photodetectors by constructing a heterojunction that is conductive for suppressing recombination of photogenerated carriers and promoting collection efficiency, and probably producing self-powered capability. However, the dependence of the built-in electric field distributions created by the heterojunction on photodetector performance has rarely been investigated. Herein, two kinds of self-powered UV–visible photodetectors with different device architectures based on single Se wire and CsPbBr3 particles are facilely fabricated and compared. It is found that both the two photodetectors show excellent self-powered operating properties, fast response and binary response. However, due to the different distributions of built-in electric field caused by device architectures, it yields a significant photovoltaic voltage distinction and different responsivity and detectivity spectra for the Se/CsPbBr3 photodetectors. These results are conductive to guide the design of self-powered heterojunction photodetectors by regulating the built-in electric field distributions.

Construction of S-scheme heterojunctions has been regarded as an appealing strategy to explore efficient photocatalysts for artificial photosynthesis. Herein, a unique 0D/1D S-scheme heterojunction of CsPbBr 3 /AgBr (CPB/AgBr) was developed by assembling CsPbBr 3 nanocrystals (NCs) onto AgBr nanorods. The effective S-scheme electron transfer between CsPbBr 3 and AgBr boosted charge separation while also maintained the strongly reductive electrons for CO 2 reduction, as proved by electron spin resonance (ESR), steady state photoluminescence (PL), time-resolved photoluminescence (TRPL), etc. As a consequence, The CPB/AgBr heterojunction achieved remarkable photocatalytic performance in CO 2 reduction, with a high electron consumption rate (R electron ) of 141.4 μmol g −1 h −1 , which was 3.0 times that of pristine CsPbBr 3 and 1.65 times that of AgBr, respectively. The current work presents a novel lead halide perovskite (PVK) based S-scheme heterojunction, which is expected to provide some insights into the development of new efficient photocatalysts based on PVKs for solar fuel applications.

Doping metal ions into lead halide perovskite nanocrystals is one of the most efficient strategies to control their photoelectric properties. Here, we develop a simple and low-cost route to synthesize the high-quality alkaline-earth metal ion (AE2+)-doped CsPbBr3 nanocrystals at room temperature. The almost 100% promoted photoluminescence quantum yield behavior of AE2+-doped CsPbBr3 nanocrystals is demonstrated by an ultrafast dynamics study and theoretical calculations on the dopant defect formation energies and electronic properties. The AE2+ dopants can promote the radiation recombination of carriers by essentially reducing the carriers trapped into intraband and interband defect states and promote the intraband coupling. Furthermore, Br– and Pb2+ vacancies can be eliminated to enhance the short-range order of the CsPbBr3 lattice and enrich the conduction band edge states, leading to the photoluminescence enhancement of CsPbBr3 nanocrystals. Our studies provide new insights into the mechanism of AE2+-doped effects and present guiding strategies for improving the optical performance of doped perovskite nanocrystals.
