A novel MOFs hydrogel composite (MIP-CuMOFs@SA-CS) was created by integrating a molecularly imprinted metal–organic framework (MIP-CuMOFs) within a scaffold of sodium alginate-chitosan (SA-CS(Cu 2+ )). The MIP-CuMOFs@SA-CS served as a recognition element to construct an electrochemical sensor for the detection of trace amounts of chelerythrine (CHE). Reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and reduced graphene nanoribbons (rGNRs) were employed for electrode modification and served as the sensing platform. It was to enhance the stability and sensitivity attributes of the sensor system. The signal probe of copper hexacyanoferrate (CuHCF) was generated through the chemical reaction involving Cu 2+ within the composite structure of MIP-CuMOFs@SA-CS with potassium ferricyanide. The experimental results showed that the constructed sensor has a good linear relationship (50 ∼ 500 nmol L −1 ) and a low detection limit (13.83 nmol L −1 ). Moreover, the sensor exhibited good selectivity, recovery rates, and repeatability (RSD = 2.81 %). With the subjected to spiked serum samples, the demonstrating recovery percentages were in the range of 97.17 % to 101.73 %. The CHE molecularly imprinted electrochemical sensor constructed is capable of detecting trace amounts of CHE with the advantages of simplicity, rapidity, high sensitivity, and low cost, which provides a useful reference for the detection of low concentrations of CHE.

The synthesis of efficient catalysts for the hydrolysis of ammonia borane (NH 3 BH 3 , AB) is a matter of critical importance and immediate necessity, as it is currently considered a promising approach for the production of hydrogen. The synergy of interactions between different metals has been widely applied in the hydrolysis of AB. In this work, we first applied Cs [ closo -B 6 H 7 ] as the reductant to prepare a series of Ni x Pd y Mo z NPs catalysts using a simple in-situ reduction method. The structural and physical chemical properties of the as-prepared catalysts are investigated employing a multitude of various characterizations. Utilizing the optimal catalyst Ni 0·3 Pd 0·7 Mo 0.2 NPs, AB hydrolysis can be completed at room temperature in just 21 s. This catalyst exhibits a lower activation energy ( Ea = 52.3 kJ mol −1 ) and relatively higher activity (TOF = 252.7 mmolH 2 ·mmol metal −1 min −1 ), which greatly outperforms many previously reported similar or corresponding catalysts. The enhancement in catalytic activity is ascribed to the moderate reducibility of Cs [ closo -B 6 H 7 ] and the synergistic interaction among Ni, Pd, and Mo. These results suggest the promise of multi-metal catalysts derived from Cs [ closo -B 6 H 7 ] for the hydrolytic dehydrogenation of hydrogen storage materials.

Cesium doped WO3(Cs-WO3) photocatalyst with high and stable oxidation activity was successfully synthesized by a one-step hydrothermal method using Cs2CO3as the doped metal ion source and tungstic acid (H2WO4) as the tungsten source. A series of analytical characterization tools and oxygen precipitation activity tests were used to compare the effects of different additions of Cs2CO3on the crystal structure and microscopic morphologies. The UV–visible diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS) of Cs-doped material exhibited a significant red shift in the absorption edge with new shoulders appearing at 440–520 nm. The formation of an oxygen vacancy was confirmed in Cs-WO3by the EPR signal, which can effectively regulate the electronic structure of the catalyst surface and contribute to improving the activity of the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The photocatalytic OER results showed that the Cs-WO3-0.1 exhibited the optimal oxygen precipitation activity, reaching 58.28 µmol at 6 h, which was greater than six times higher than that of WO3-0 (9.76 μmol). It can be attributed to the synergistic effect of the increase in the conduction band position of Cs-WO3-0.1 (0.11 V) and oxygen vacancies compared to WO3-0, which accelerate the electron conduction rate and slow down the rapid compounding of photogenerated electrons–holes, improving the water-catalytic oxygen precipitation activity of WO3.

Adaptive learning capability of optoelectronic synaptic hardware holds promising application prospects in next generation artificial intelligence, and the development of biometric retina perception is sternly hampered by three crucial issues, including well-balance between excitatory and inhibitory, non-volatile multi-state storage, and optimal energy consumption. In this work, a novel Cs 2 AgBiBr 6 /ZnO non-volatile optoelectronic synapse is proposed and successfully programmed with optical excitatory and electronic inhibitory in the light of dual-mechanism: Lead-free perovskite Cs 2 AgBiBr 6 guarantees abundant photogenerated carrier concentration, and the process of carrier capture and release occurs in ZnO layer, which can collaboratively modulate various synaptic plasticity behaviors depending on distinct stimulus. Consequently, multi-bit storage is attained with the dual-mechanism non-volatile memory (DNVM) as a function of consecutive light spikes. The energy consumption of the DNVM is 1.85 nJ at a single light spike, and an ultra-low one of 13.8 fJ is triggered with a single electrical pulse, which approximatively meets the requirement of the biological synaptic event energy consumption. The performance of the DNVM is further evaluated with the Pavlov's classical conditioning experiment and visual hardware system, offering an exciting paradigm for implementing on-chip adaptive visual perception and neuromorphic computing.

The abuse of antibiotics led to significant environmental pollution through persistent residues in water bodies, posing severe risks to both ecological systems and human health. Addressing this issue, recent studies highlighted the potential of carbonaceous materials as effective adsorbents for removing antibiotics from water. Despite the proven potential of various carbonaceous materials in water purification, the application of three-dimensional porous microspherical aerogels as adsorbents presented a promising yet comparatively less discussed avenue in the quest for efficient antibiotic removal from aquatic environments. This work introduced a novel KGM-GO/CS/SA composite aerogel sphere, developed via a simple sol–gel and dripping method, using konjac glucomannan (KGM) as a cross-linking agent. We extensively analyzed its adsorption efficiency against common antibiotics such as tetracycline (TC), ofloxacin (OFL), and sulfadiazine (SDZ), revealing its rapid adsorption kinetics and high capacity. The aerogel's micro-morphology, characterized by a graded porous structure with abundant microporous channels and a low bulk density of 21.2 mg/cm3, along with its enhanced mechanical properties and thermal stability due to KGM cross-linking, signified its potential as a robust adsorbent. The surface functional groups facilitated diverse interaction mechanisms, including electrostatic attraction, hydrogen bonding, and π-π interactions, contributing to the adsorbent's high performance. Furthermore, the surface charge of the aerogel varied with pH, enhancing its electrostatic adsorption capabilities. The adsorption behavior was best described by the quasi-second-order and Langmuir models, with maximum capacities of 427.63 mg/g for OFL, 374.35 mg/g for TC, and 231.09 mg/g for SDZ, thereby offering a promising solution for antibiotic pollution remediation and illustrating the utility of carbon-based aerogel microspheres in environmental applications.

Prussian blue analogue (PBA) membranes for efficient Cs removal via in situ synthesis have attracted much interest. Herein, copper-substituted PBA was developed and optimized on the surface of a substrate with the aid of tannic acid (TA). The fabricated Cu-PBA-TA membrane was systematically investigated for its Cs adsorption property in static and dynamic experiments. The as-prepared membrane showed a maximum adsorption capacity of 265.0 mg g−1, which was the highest when compared to that of previously reported PBA membranes. Applied in geothermal water, the Cu-PBA-TA membrane showed favorable selectivity (Kd, 8680 mL g−1) and the removal rate of Cs+ was about 90%. Its fast adsorption rate that reached equilibrium within 40 min and the benign reusability in the dynamic treatment of geothermal water confirmed the potential of the membrane for large-scale application.

With the rapid development of global economy and industrialization, the management and protection of water resources have become increasingly important. In this paper, a novel three-dimensional Chitosan/Fe 3 O 4 /TiO 2 @MXene photocatalyst with excellent degradation and bacterial inhibition properties was prepared by a simple one-step hydrothermal method using FeCl 3 ·6H 2 O, Chitosan (CS) and MXene (Ti 3 C 2 ) as main raw materials. TiO 2 was generated in-situ on the surface of Ti 3 C 2 nanosheets and modified by loading Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles and CS films. The conformations and band gaps of the composites were modified, and then photocatalytic mechanisms, phase compositions, morphological structures, magnetic properties and photoelectrochemical properties of the photocatalysts were systematically analyzed. The degradation efficiency of the CS/Fe 3 O 4 /TiO 2 @Ti 3 C 2 composite photocatalyst can reach 95.9 % when the ration of CS to FeCl 3 ·6H 2 O is 1:3 and the hydrothermal temperature is 180 °C, which showing excellent photocatalytic performance. Meanwhile, the inhibition rate of Staphylococcus aureus ( S. aureus ) is close to 98.91 % under the light condition. This study further reveals that visible light is a cost-effective way to treat pollution in terms of degradation and bacteriostatic inhibition, and the composite photocatalysts can be efficiently recycled and reused under the action of a magnetic field.

Long-lived 137Cs/134Cs, 60Co, and 63Ni with high-energy β/γ emissions are primary toxic fission/activation products in nuclear-contaminated water, causing irreversible damage to the ecological environment and human health. Rapid remediation of these radionuclides emerges as an urgent task, while the deficiencies in adsorption kinetics, selectivity and acid resistance hinder the material innovation for practical applications. Herein, we have developed a hybrid cadmium/tin selenide adsorbent K3.4(CH3NH3)0.45(NH4)0.15Cd2Sn3Se10·3.4H2O (CdSnSe-2K) for the enrichment and sequestration of Cs+, Co2+, and Ni2+ ions. CdSnSe-2K features a unique open-framework constructed from the interlinkage of T2-{M4Se10} (M = SnIV/CdII) supertetrahedral clusters and M bridges, accelerating the ion transfer in the tunnel system and thus affording quick kinetics (k2 = 9.706, 0.182, 0.099 g mg−1 min−1 for Cs+, Co2+, Ni2+). Remarkably, the removal rate RCs increases to 98.54% in just 2 min and 99.57% in 5 min (equilibrium), which is responsible for an ultra-high distribution coefficient Kd of 2.31 × 105 mL g−1. The soft-Lewis basic Se component endows CdSnSe-2K with a fantastic adsorption selectivity for Cs+, Co2+, and Ni2+ against various coexisting cations and anions in complex actual water environments even including the highly salty sea water medium. CdSnSe-2K exhibits a fantastic acid/base tolerance over pH = 2–13, and the maximum adsorption capacities qCsm, qCom and qNim under neutral condition are 218.08 ± 80.08, 43.95 ± 16.57 and 42.53 ± 16.50 mg g−1, respectively. In addition, CdSnSe-2K single crystals were also employed as the stationary phase for the fabrication of an ion exchange column, which shows an elimination efficiency above 99% in the long-term filtration for Cs+ (8200 BVs), Co2+ (4000 BVs) and Ni2+ (4000 BVs). This work not only highlights CdSnSe-2K as a promising Cs+, Co2+, and Ni2+ scavenger in radionuclide remediation, but also provides a supertetrahedral cluster-based construction strategy for open-framework selenide materials with enhanced adsorption kinetics, selectivity, and acid resistance.

Hydrogels present significant potential in flexible materials designed for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, attributed to their soft, stretchable mechanical properties and water-rich porous structures. Unfortunately, EMI shielding hydrogels commonly suffer from low mechanical properties, deficient fracture energy, and low strength, which limit the serviceability of these materials in complex mechanical environments. In this study, the double network strategy is successfully utilized along with the Hofmeister effect to create MXene/PAA (polyacrylic acid)-CS (chitosan) hydrogels and further strengthen and toughen the gel with (NH 4 ) 2 SO 4 solution. The gel exhibits enhanced functionalities such as outstanding stretchability, excellent strain sensitivity (11.66), and super fracture energy (≥9 kJ m −2 ). Notably, it demonstrates outstanding shielding effectiveness of 73.8 dB in the terahertz (THz) range, and the shielding properties can be effectively tuned by varying the MXene content, the (NH 4 ) 2 SO 4 concentration, and the thickness of the hydrogel. Additionally, the gel shows robust and superior shielding effectiveness after repeated stretching and long-term dehydration. The MXene/PAA-CS double-network (DN) hydrogels would be an excellent candidate for EMI shielding materials in advanced flexible electronic equipment and soft robots.

Ferulic acid (FA) exhibits beneficial properties in ulcerative colitis (UC) pathogenesis, while sensitivity to the environment and enzymes limits its use in UC therapy. Therefore, this study aims to develop a colon-targeted nanocomplex delivery system using FA and investigate its protective effects and underlying regulatory mechanisms in UC mice. A novel Zein/FA–pectin (PEC)/chitosan (CS) nanocomplex was successfully fabricated in this study. Through systematic adjustment of the PEC/CS-to-Zein/FA ratio, optimal encapsulation efficiency (60.1%) and loading capacity (26.2%) were achieved. The characterized data indicated that hydrogen bonds, electrostatic interactions, and hydrophobic forces were the main driving forces maintaining the formation of the nanocomplexes, accompanied by alterations in the secondary structure of Zein. The Zein/FA–PEC/CS nanocomplexes demonstrated excellent thermal/storage particle size stability and exhibited both protective and sustained-release effects of FA during simulated gastrointestinal digestion. Furthermore, the results demonstrated that the nanocomplexes potentially alleviate UC by regulating inflammatory cytokines, oxidative stress, and gut microbiota. Compared to unencapsulated FA, the nanocomplexes have a better effect on alleviating UC symptoms. In summary, Zein/FA–PEC/CS nanocomplexes have promising prospects in alleviating colitis in UC mice.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a common disease worldwide. Tissue engineering scaffolds are considered a promising strategy for SCI treatment, but their efficacy is significantly limited by the local abundance of MSC (mesenchymal stem cell) and a highly inflammatory microenvironment. In this study, a multifunctional composite scaffold of polycaprolactone/chitosan (PCL/CS) loading polydopamine (PDA)-coated nerve growth factor (NGF) loaded onto was prepared using a freeze-drying method. The PCL/CS composite scaffold exhibited tunable degradation properties and excellent biocompatibility. The PDA coating demonstrated potent free radical scavenging capabilities, achieving clearance rate of 90.65%, 77.53%, and 60.77% for DPPH, H2O2, and ·OH radicals, respectively. Remarkably, the scaffold effectively reduced intracellular ROS levels within 24 h under oxidative stress conditions. Flow cytometry revealed rapid cellular internalization, with the FITC-labeled PC-5-PDA group exhibiting a 99.87% FITC+ rate within 12 h. NGF release from the scaffold induced robust neuronal differentiation of PC-12 cells, as evidenced by a 58.1% increase in neurite length (from 104.77 μm at day 3 to 165.66 μm at day 4) and upregulated expression of microtubule-associated protein 2 (MAP2). These findings demonstrate the dual functionality of the scaffold, which is effectively modulating the post-SCI inflammatory microenvironment while promoting neural regeneration.

Developing low-temperature, high-efficiency ammonia decomposition catalysts for hydrogen production is essential for the broad application of hydrogen. This study conducted a systematic investigation of Ru/MgO catalysts modified with different alkali metals (Na, K, Cs), unveiling the impact of these modifications on catalyst performance and developing a highly efficient low-temperature ammonia decomposition catalyst. The addition of all alkali metals enhances the catalytic performance of Ru/MgO for ammonia decomposition, especially the addition of K, which results in the optimal enhancement of the catalyst, achieving a 75% ammonia decomposition efficiency at 350 °C (GHSV= 2,000 mL/h·gcat), more than doubling the performance of the unmodified Ru/MgO catalyst. The study revealed that the addition of potassium (K) altered the rate-determining step of the ammonia decomposition reaction from nitrogen recombination to the dissociation of the first hydrogen atom, and reduced the overall energy barrier required for the reaction. This facilitated the desorption of nitrogen from the Ru surface and the conversion of NH3, thereby accelerating the rate of the ammonia decomposition reaction.
