Aiming at wearable low-grade heat harvesting, we developed a facile drop‑casting strategy to fabricate freestanding polyaniline/1 T-phase molybdenum disulfide (PANI/1 T-MoS 2 ) composite thick films (~37 μm), using m -cresol as the processing solvent and camphorsulfonic acid (CSA) as the dopant. The composite films successfully decouple the conventional trade-off between electrical conductivity ( σ ) and Seebeck coefficient ( S ) through interfacial coupling and carrier regulation enabled by 1 T-MoS 2 . The optimized PANI‑MoS 2 ‑25 sample delivers a maximum power factor ( PF ) of 26.18 μW·m −1 ·K −2 at 378 K, representing an ~19‑fold enhancement over pristine PANI, together with a low thermal conductivity of 0.22 W·m −1 ·K −1 at 298 K, yielding a ZT ≈ 0.05. The film exhibits excellent mechanical reliability, retaining 94.1% of its initial σ and 96.3% of its initial S after 1000 bending cycles at a radius of 8 mm. A ten‑leg series‑connected flexible thermoelectric generator (F‑TEG) assembled from this film produces an open‑circuit voltage of 4.781 mV at Δ T = 10 K (simulating body‑heat harvesting) and 20.716 mV at Δ T = 43 K, with a maximum output power of 0.729 μW and a peak power density of 9.1 μW·cm −2 . This work provides a feasible material platform and processing route for developing wearable thermoelectric devices that combine high output performance, remarkable flexibility, and simple fabrication.

Salt erosion is one of the main factors affecting the durability of cement and concrete. Magnesium oxysulfate (MOS) cement is regarded as a new type of binder with many good features such as lower carbon dioxide emission, excellent fire resistance, etc. However, the salt erosion resistance of MOS cement is rarely studied. This research investigated the performance of MOS cement, with granite powders (GPs) as mineral admixture , soaked in NaCl and Na 2 SO 4 solutions. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and simultaneous comprehensive thermal analyzer (TG-DSC) were used to detect the phase composition and hydration products of MOS cement. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and mercury porosimeter (MIP) were used to analyze the pore structure and microstructure of MOS cement. The results showed that the value of the salt attack coefficient of MOS cement with 50 % by weight GPs reached 0.58 and 0.57 after immersion in NaCl and Na 2 SO 4 solutions for 230 days, respectively. The compressive strength of MOS cement with 30 % by weight GPs reached the maximum value of 74.1 MPa after standard curing for 28 days by optimizing the pore structure. Both needle-like and plate-like Na 2 SO 4 ·xH 2 O crystals were observed in the hydration products. Gypsum and Na 2 SO 4 ·xH 2 O grew in the pores and matrix, generated expansion stress and destroyed the matrix structure of MOS cement. During the soaking period, the decomposition of the 5·1·7 phase and MgSO 4 ·nH 2 O negatively affected the salt resistance of MOS cement. Physical and chemical erosion leads to a decrease in the value of the salt attack coefficient.

Early cancer diagnosis remains a global challenge due to the lack of ultrasensitive and specific detection methods. Herein, we report a dual-active quantum dots (QDs) photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensing platform based on a MoS₂@TaS₂ nano-heterojunction engineered via atomic layer deposition (ALD) for the detection of nucleolin (NCL), a key cancer biomarker. The petal-like MoS₂@TaS₂ nanosheets exhibit enhanced light-harvesting and charge transport properties, as well as a high surface area for uniform QDs loading. This architecture promotes efficient charge separation and suppresses recombination through the synergistic interaction between the heterojunction and CdTe QDs. The resulting sensor achieves a wide linear range (1 fM to 1 nM) and an ultralow detection limit of 0.65 fM, along with excellent specificity and stability. This work offers a promising PEC strategy for early cancer diagnosis.

In water-lubricated conditions, surface modification techniques that enhance the formation of water-lubricating films through surface treatment play a significant role. This paper proposes a method of applying a modified epoxy resin coating on stainless steel to improve its tribological performance under water lubrication. First, nano-MoS₂-PEG6000 fillers were prepared via a hydrothermal method. They were uniformly mixed into the epoxy resin and coated onto the surfaces of stainless steel and slipper pairs. Tribological experiments were conducted using a slipper-on-disk configuration, followed by characterization. Experimental results demonstrate that the nano-MoS₂-PEG6000 modified epoxy resin coating exhibits excellent water-lubrication properties, with the friction coefficient reduced by 66.4 % and the wear rate decreased by 99.2 %. The mechanism was revealed: MoS₂ reduces the shear force between rough peak contacts, while PEG6000 possesses strong hydration capacity, forming a stable water-lubricating film on the surface, thereby reducing friction. This study provides a novel approach for the tribological design of slipper pairs in water hydraulic pumps.

The urgent need for reliable blood glucose monitoring has driven the development of advanced sensing platforms such as surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). However, traditional SERS substrates are plagued by inconsistent hotspots and limited signal strength. We solved this problem by constructing a heterojunction substrate with a precisely designed gold nanoarray (Au NA) on a single-layer MoS 2 . Due to the structural characteristics of the substrate, a uniform plasma coupling network and efficient charge transfer channels have been constructed. The uniform intensity and charge transfer efficiency of LSPR were optimized through the design of the structure, and the enhancement mechanism was systematically studied physically. When functionalized with 4-MPBA, our sensor achieved an ultra sensitive glucose detection limit of 10 −12 M and long-term stability within 15 days, with relative enhancement factors of 6.29 and 13.98, respectively. It demonstrates excellent recognition ability for glucose molecules in anti-interference detection. This fully demonstrates the transformative potential of ordered nanoarray design in the field of biosensing.

An electronic nose based on metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) sensors has been used to identify liquors with excessive methanol. The technique for a square wave temperature modulated MOS sensor was applied to generate the response patterns and a back-propagation neural network was used for pattern recognition. The parameters of temperature modulation were optimized according to the difference in response features of target gases (methanol and ethanol). Liquors with excessive methanol were qualitatively and quantitatively identified by the neural network. The results showed that our electronic nose system could well identify the liquors with excessive methanol with more than 92% accuracy. This electronic nose based on temperature modulation is a promising portable adjunct to other available techniques for quality assurance of liquors and other alcoholic beverages.

Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is a highly sensitive analytical technique extensively employed in bioanalysis, chemical sensing, and environmental monitoring. Transition metal sulfides, such as molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2 ) and nickel sulfide (NiS), exhibit significant potential as SERS substrates, but their performance is often constrained by limited exposure of active sites and inefficient charge transfer, especially in complex sample matrices. In this study, we address these challenges by employing a hydrothermal strategy to synthesize amorphous MoS 2 nanoshells in an urchin-like MoS 2 -NiS core–shell structure grown on nickel foam (A-MoS 2 /NiS/NF). Further enhancement was realized via neodymium doping, yielding the x Nd-A-MoS 2 /NiS/NF. The optimized 0.015Nd-A-MoS 2 /NiS/NF substrate demonstrated a high enhancement factor (EF) of 1.56 × 10 9 for methylene blue (MB) and a detection limit as low as 10 –12 M. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations indicate that neodymium doping substantially increases the density of states (DOS) at the Fermi level, thereby enhancing charge transfer and amplifying the Raman signal. The 0.015Nd-A-MoS 2 /NiS/NF substrate also exhibited high sensitivity in detecting melamine in real milk samples, confirming its practical applicability. By effectively addressing the challenges of active site exposure and charge transfer in MoS 2 and NiS-based SERS substrates, this work significantly advances the practical application of transition metal sulfides in SERS. This development paves the way for the broader deployment of these materials in environmental and bioanalytical detection, presenting a promising strategy for improving the sensitivity and versatility of SERS-based sensors. Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) possesses excellent corrosion resistance, moderate friction properties, and high‑temperature stability. However, under severe operating conditions, its coefficient of friction (COF) and wear rate increase significantly, limiting broader application. In this work, P‑MoS₂ was synthesized in situ on a PEEK matrix using a hydrothermal method, while K‑BN‑OH was prepared via surface grafting with a coupling agent. Both fillers were then blended with a PEEK/PTFE matrix to produce a novel PEEK/PTFE/P‑MoS₂/K‑BN‑OH composite. Orthogonal experiments identified the optimal composition of PEEK/PTFE/P‑MoS₂, which exhibited the best overall performance. The effect of K‑BN‑OH content on the mechanical, thermal, and tribological properties of the composites was systematically studied. Tribological behavior under varying conditions was analyzed to elucidate wear mechanisms and filler synergy. Results show that the composite with 25% PTFE and 5% P‑MoS₂ achieved the most balanced performance: elastic modulus (1414.62 MPa), compressive strength (127.81 MPa), COF (0.108), and wear rate (1.81 ×10⁻⁶ mm³/N·h) decreased by 22.58%, 35.82%, 73.13%, and 59.78%, respectively, compared to pure PEEK, while creep strain (2.77%) increased by 95.62%. Further addition of 3% K‑BN‑OH enhanced mechanical and thermal properties: elastic modulus rose to 1520.13 MPa, compressive strength to 131.33 MPa, creep strain fell to 1.82%, and thermal conductivity reached 0.294 W/m·K. The average coefficient of friction(ACOF) declined to 0.094, though wear rate rose slightly to 2.26 × 10⁻⁶ mm³/N·h. Tribological tests revealed that wear rate increased with rotational speed, while ACOF showed a non‑monotonic trend, first decreasing and then increasing. With increasing load, both ACOF and wear rate initially decreased before rising, reaching minima at 20 N (0.077 and 2.09 ×10⁻⁶ mm³/N·h, respectively). Molecular dynamics simulations elucidated that PTFE formed a lubricating film through interfacial enrichment, while MoS₂ enhanced matrix ordering and promoted interfacial slip via π-π stacking and C-S bonding. In contrast, h-BN disrupted the synergistic lubrication network established between PTFE and MoS₂ due to its spatial blocking effect. This work systematically elucidates the synergistic mechanisms of fillers from the microscopic level to macroscopic performance, providing a theoretical basis for the design of high‑performance PEEK composites tailored to specific operating conditions.

The strong interfacial interaction between heterostructured semiconductors plays a vital role in enhancing the separation and transport efficiency of photogenerated charge carriers for photocatalytic applications. In this study, we report a stepwise synthesis strategy to fabricate a high-efficiency ternary heterojunction composed of NiS-decorated MoS₂/CdS with strong interfacial bonding (NS@SI-MCS). Initially, an amorphous MoSₓ layer was deposited onto CdS nanorods via chemical bath deposition, followed by thermal treatment in a reductive H₂/Ar atmosphere to form crystalline MoS₂ with strong interfacial coupling. This treatment not only improved the crystallinity of MoS₂ but also introduced sulfur vacancies, promoting enhanced interfacial contact and thereby strengthening electronic interactions and charge transport across the heterojunction. Subsequently, NiS nanoparticles were deposited as cocatalysts to facilitate efficient electron extraction and proton reduction. Comprehensive structural, optical, and electrochemical characterizations confirmed the formation of a well-integrated heterostructure, characterized by improved light absorption, suppressed charge recombination, and enhanced conductivity. The resulting NS@SI-MCS composite exhibited a remarkable hydrogen evolution rate of 5243 μmol h⁻¹g⁻¹ under visible light, approximately 16.6 times higher than pristine CdS. This enhancement is attributed to the synergistic effects of strong interfacial coupling of MoS₂/CdS and the catalytic contribution of NiS. This work provides valuable insight into designing strongly coupled heterojunctions and offers a scalable, noble-metal-free strategy for efficient solar-to-hydrogen conversion.

Multiple Synergistic SERS Enhancement of 3D micro-nano Ni-foam@MoS₂ • Overcomes EBC matrix interference for ultrasensitive 2.95 nM lactate detection • AI algorithms decode complex SERS spectra for non-invasive health monitoring. To address the critical demand for highly sensitive sensing interfaces in non-invasive exhaled breath condensate (EBC) analysis, this study develops a high-performance SERS substrate featuring interlaced, needle-like MoS₂ nanoclusters grown in situ on a 3D nickel foam scaffold (Ni-foam@MoS₂). This architecture effectively overcomes the severe signal heterogeneity and poor wearable compatibility that typically plague traditional plasmonic metal substrates. The system synergizes multiple coupled SERS enhancement mechanisms: the 3D porous scaffold and interwoven needle-like arrays form abundant optical microcavities. These microcavities effectively confine incident light and significantly enhance light-matter interactions, thereby inducing electromagnetic enhancement. Concurrently, the interlaced MoS₂ arrays not only efficiently concentrate trace analytes but also induce substantial chemical mechanism via vigorous charge transfer. Consequently, the substrate achieves an outstanding average enhancement factor of 1.88 × 10 9 , alongside superb signal reproducibility and long-term environmental stability. By deploying this Ni-foam@MoS₂ substrate for the rapid off-line analysis of simulated exhaled breath condensate (EBC), we achieved the ultrasensitive detection of lactate (LA), a critical metabolic biomarker, with a limit of detection as low as 2.95 nM. Furthermore, coupling these complex spectral datasets with advanced artificial intelligence algorithms enabled the highly accurate classification of concentration-dependent LA spectral variations, demonstrating significant proof-of-concept potential for mask-integrated biomolecular sensing and non-invasive physiological monitoring.

Given the flammability and insufficient MPs of natural bamboo, this study uses Magnesium Oxysulfate (MOS)-Gelling Adhesive (MOS-GA) to prepare high-performance composite bamboo, and examines the effects of various temperature treatments on the MPs and fire resistance of MOS-GA composite bamboo. The results showed that MOS-GA had the best MPs after heat treatment at 400°C. After 7 days of curing, the CS of the specimen ranged from 90.02 MPa to 92.37 MPa, and the FS ranged from 9.52 MPa to 9.67 MPa. The MPs at 600°C decreased, the CS dropped to 10.17 MPa-18.24 MPa, and the FS dropped to 2.08 MPa-3.02 MPa. When treated with MOS-GA at 400°C, the composite bamboo material had a maximum along-grain CS of 79.36 MPa, and a TS and FS of 33.45 MPa and 72.12 MPa. The fire resistance limit of the specimen treated at 400°C reached 98 min, the charring depth was 35.2 mm at 100 min, the internal temperature distribution was reasonable, and it showed good thermal insulation performance and structural integrity. Research shows that moderate heat treatment temperature can effectively balance the MPs and fire resistance of MOS-based composite bamboo, providing a theoretical basis for its application in green fire-resistant buildings.

Metal nanoparticle surface modification is a simple and efficient method to realize highly sensitive detection for chemiresistive gas sensors. Although a few theoretical explanations for the complicated matching relationship in the sensing system constructed from the modified metal, semiconductor material, and target gas have been proposed, there are no corresponding specific evaluation parameters based on the metal sensitization mechanism, which are crucial for the guidance of high-performance sensing materials design. Herein, taking MnO2-based chemiresistive gas sensors as examples, the improvement effect of the metal nanoparticles modification on the gas-sensing properties of MnO2-based chemiresistive sensors toward HCHO and NH3 is investigated. Combined with the first-principle calculations based on density functional theory (DFT), a novel resonant coupling model based on the impurity energy levels, originating from charge transfer between target gas and metal, is first proposed to reveal the sensitization mechanism that the coupling strength between metal and target gas determines the carrier concentration of MOS. Coupling strength is closely positive correlated with the response, which provides an effective parameter to semiquantitatively describe the sensitization effect of metal nanoparticles on target gas. Our work establishes a model that clarifies the matching correlation in the sensing system and excavates new road to further comprehend the metal sensitization mechanism, which will provide an effective theoretical guide for the design of high-performance gas-sensing materials.
