The long-term stability and reuse potential of the photocatalyst are of great concern for the degradation of organic pollutants in wastewater. A recycled photocatalyst with high reusability was synthesized by immobilizing BiVO 4 nanoparticles on alumina foam ceramic (BiVO@AFC) via a convenient dip-coating followed by calcination method. BiVO@AFC show stable photocatalytic activity for Rhodamine B (RhB) degradation over 90 cycles of experiments (180 h), requiring only 4 times of regeneration treatments. The regeneration is simple and economical, washing the photocatalyst with ultrapure water and dried it at 55 °C. Each regeneration could restore the RhB degradation rate to above 85%. Characterizations confirmed the stability of the materials in optical absorption and chemical properties. The dual doping of W and Mo within BiVO 4 (3 W-2Mo,BiVO@AFC) exhibits a synergistic effect, significantly enhancing photocatalytic performance and stability. The co-doping also can suppress the loss in specific surface area and pore volume of BiVO@AFC originated from the normal wear and tear during the photocatalytic process. As a result of that, the RhB degradation rate of 3 W-2Mo:BiVO@AFC remained above 80% over 90 cycles of experiments (180 h) requiring 4 times of regeneration. And the RhB degradation rate can be restored to above 94% by the same regeneration with BiVO@AFC. Photogenerated hole (h + ) plays a major role in removing RhB in this case. While the dual doping of W and Mo is in favour of generating more ·OH and ·O₂ − radicals for degradation by promoting photocharges transfer and separation. These make it a promising candidate for large-scale applications for wastewater treatment.

This study modified CaWO 4 ceramics through co-doping with Li + and Mo 6+ , and prepared Li x Ca 1-x W 1-x Mo x O 4 (x = 0–0.10) using the solid-state reaction method. The results show that at x = 0.02 and sintered at 850 °C, the material exhibits optimal comprehensive performance: ε r ≈ 9.95, Q × f = 79,683 GHz, and τ f improved from −53 to +5.08 ppm/°C, achieving low-temperature sintering and effective temperature stability control. Mechanism analysis indicates that the enhancement of Mo–O bonds and charge transfer behavior contribute to reducing dielectric loss and improving temperature stability. The material also demonstrates good dielectric performance in the terahertz frequency band. A patch antenna designed based on this material achieves a radiation efficiency of 91.47% at 11.65 GHz, highlighting its potential for application in high-frequency LTCC devices.

A low-cost Cu-Mo dual-doped carbon nitride nanozyme was synthesized. • It shows excellent peroxidase-like activity via superoxide radical pathway. • A smartphone-based platform enables portable and visual D-PA detection. D-Penicillamine (D-PA), a sulfur-containing amino acid, is used to treat various diseases such as Wilson's disease, fibrotic lung disease, and cystinuria. However, excessive intake of D-PA can cause adverse effects, necessitating the development of accurate quantitative detection methods. This study aimed to establish a visual colorimetric method for D-PA detection using a synthesized Cu-Mo dual-doped carbon nitride nanomaterial ( Cu - Mo - VC - CN ). The synthesis capitalizes on the simplicity and cost-effectiveness of a one-pot thermal polymerization reaction, utilizing only inexpensive and commercially available precursors, namely copper chloride, ammonium molybdate, urea, and vitamin C. The material exhibited exceptional peroxidase-like activity, catalyzing the oxidation of TMB by H 2 O 2 via a superoxide radical pathway. The optimal reaction conditions were: temperature 30 °C, time 30 min, pH 5.5, TMB concentration 0.2 mM, and H₂O₂ concentration 0.2 mM. Steady-state kinetic analysis revealed that the Cu - Mo - VC - CN nanozyme had Michaelis-Menten constants ( K ₘ) of 0.083 mM for TMB and 0.603 mM for H 2 O 2 . Under optimal conditions, the system enabled highly sensitive D-PA quantification with a linear range of 0.5–100 μM and a detection limit of 0.45 μM. The nanozyme was successfully applied to determine D-PA content in pharmaceutical tablets with satisfactory recovery (from 97.73 to 98.27%). Furthermore, a smartphone-based testing platform was established to provide a portable and practical solution for the real-time monitoring of D-PA. This work provides both an efficient strategy for developing multi-metal-doped nanozymes and a reliable colorimetric platform for D-PA monitoring. Boron doping activates MoS 2 basal planes and constructs B-Mo dual Lewis acid sites for NRR. • B-MoS 2 -5 delivers superior NRR performance of NH 3 yield of 22.1 μg mg -1 cat. h −1 , and a FE of 27.1%. • In-situ ATR-FTIR confirms B-Mo sites enhance N 2 activation and suppress HER. Ambient electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR) powered by renewable electricity offers a sustainable alternative to the energy-intensive Haber-Bosch process. However, achieving efficient N≡N bond activation while suppressing the competing hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in aqueous electrolytes remains a major challenge. Herein, we fabricated Boron-doped MoS 2 (B-MoS 2 ) nanoflowers with abundant asymmetric B-Mo Lewis acid sites as electrocatalysts for NRR. In 0.1 M Na 2 SO 4 , the optimized B-MoS 2 achieves an ammonia yield rate of 22.1 μg mg -1 cat. h −1 at −0.35 V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE) and faradaic efficiency (FE) of 27.1% at −0.3 V vs. RHE, outperforming most previous reports. The superior performance is attributed to the synergistic effect of the B-Mo dual Lewis acid sites: the electron-deficient B site enhances N 2 adsorption by capturing its lone-pair electrons, while Mo promotes π-backdonation to polarize and activate the N≡N bond. Simultaneously, the strong Lewis acidity of B suppresses H⁺ adsorption, inhibiting HER. In-situ electrochemical attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy further confirms B-Mo sites boost N 2 adsorption and activation, favoring NRR over HER. This work provides insights for the rational design of sustainable electrocatalysts for ambient nitrogen fixation. A phase-engineered boron-doped MoS 2 nanoflowers were synthesized for enhancing B-Mo dual-site accessibility and efficient electrochemical nitrogen fixation. Ceramic metallization provides an effective insulation strategy for reversible solid oxide cell (RSOC) pipeline connections that are prone to side short-circuiting. In this work, 95 wt.% Al 2 O 3 ceramics were metallized by the activated Mo–Mn method, and 15 metallization formulations with different Mo, MnO, Al 2 O 3 , and SiO 2 contents were designed to optimize the microstructure, phase composition, and bonding strength of the metallized layer. The results show that, after sintering at 1400°C for 1 h, the optimal formulation consists of 70 wt.% Mo, 9 wt.% MnO, 6.3 wt.% Al 2 O 3 , and 14.7 wt.% SiO 2 . Under this condition, the Mo skeleton is continuous, the activator melt forms a glassy phase, and a reliable transition layer is developed at the ceramic/metallization interface, yielding a shear strength of 146.3 MPa. Electroless Ni–P post-plating on the optimized metallized surface produces a dense and continuous coating with typical nodular morphology and an average thickness of about 15–17 µm. The plated layer exhibits a relatively uniform hardness of 382.84 HV and maintains good structural integrity after 300 thermal-shock cycles, demonstrating promising potential for RSOC-related ceramic-to-metal insulating connection components.

The surface of the C shell is covered with mesoporous channels, which promotes the occurrence of the confinement effect. • The abundant hydroxyl groups enable the C shell not only to exert physical adsorption but also to cooperate with chemical adsorption. • Both the dual transition metal regulation mechanism and the electron cooperative mechanism can be applied in ODS. • The desulfurization rate (99.53%) can be achieved under the mild reaction condition with less dosages of catalysts and ILs. • EPR analysis and radical scavenging assay experiments confirmed that one type of free radicals acts in the ODS. Common transition metal catalysts have been widely applied in catalytic reaction. However, the shortcomings in electronic regulation mechanism, confinement effect, and synergistic adsorption remain to be urgently addressed. This study designed a dual-transition-metal-based catalyst (Mo-W@C) with a surface rich in hydroxyl functional groups. Its bimetallic active components are obtained through protonation reaction. The C shell is coated on the bimetallic active components through self-assembly and directional anchoring. These procedures reduce the interatomic distance between Mo and W in the bimetallic active component, enhancing the electronic interaction between them. The confinement effect of the C shell accelerates the collision of reaction molecules. Furthermore, the abundant hydroxyl groups on the surface of the C shell facilitate the rapid adsorption of H 2 O 2 . A high sulfur removal rate of Mo-W@C (99.56 %) was achieved under mild reaction conditions (V(ILs) = 0.1 mL, m(catalyst) = 10 mg, V(H 2 O 2 ) = 0.15 mL, 80 °C, 90 min). Moreover, the catalyst still maintained a high desulfurization rate (95.76 %) after seven cycles. The catalytic reaction mechanism involving peroxide state and electronic synergy was elucidated by experiments and analyses (XPS, EPR, etc.). This catalytic structure provides a new perspective for the research on supported catalysts. Download: Download high-res image (151KB) Download: Download full-size image

Implantable medical devices that fully degrade in the body eliminate the need for removal surgeries, yet powering them transiently remains a challenge due to low energy harvesting efficiency. Here, we introduce a fully biodegradable hybrid nanogenerator (FB-HNG) with dramatically enhanced output, enabled by biodegradable molybdenum (Mo) nanoparticle-mediated dielectric modulation. By incorporating Mo nanofillers into a PLGA triboelectric layer, we significantly enhance its dielectric constant, surface roughness, and electronegativity. When integrated with a self-assembled polyvinyl alcohol/glycerol/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA/Gy/PVA) piezoelectric heterostructure film, the synergistic hybrid device achieves a record output charge density of 9.6 nC/cm 2 among fully biodegradable nanogenerators to date. The entire system, comprising fully degradable components, including the absorbable Mo metal, undergoes complete dissolution after its functional lifespan. In vitro and in vivo biocompatibility assessments confirm its excellent biosafety. This work presents a dielectric-modulation strategy to boost the output of fully biodegradable electronics, highlighting the potential of nanogenerators for powering transient implantable medical devices.

In the present work, W, Mo, and MoS 2 reinforced graphite/copper composites were prepared using microwave sintering. By focusing on the copper matrix and graphite reinforcement, W and Mo elements were introduced into the copper matrix, while MoS 2 was doped into the graphite. During sintering, carbide pinning phases and Cu-Mo-S transition layers were formed at the graphite/copper interface, enhancing the interfacial bonding between graphite and copper. The effects of sintering time on the microstructure and properties of the composites were investigated, including their tribological performance under varying friction loads and linear speeds. A sintering time of 60 min was observed to lead to composite materials with improved microstructural properties, specifically a higher density of pinning phases and Cu-Mo-S transition layers, as well as a uniform microstructure. Significant improvements were observed in density, hardness, electrical, and thermal conductivity. Under a friction load of 4 N and a sliding speed of 1.7 m/s, the wear rate of the composites was only 4.52 × 10 −8 cm 3 N −1 m −1 . These findings provide a reference for improving the interface of graphite/copper composites and their application in the field of friction and wear.

Due to the increasingly urgent safety and energy density concerns of lithium-ion batteries, more and more attention has been attracted by the Li 7 La 3 Zr 2 O 12 (LLZO)-based solid electrolytes with high ion conductivity and chemical stability against Li-metal. However, to prepare the high-quality LLZO ceramic electrolyte with high-ion conductivity and density, there is still a big challenge of the serious “Li-loss” and the abnormal grain growth during the long-time high-temperature sintering process. A novel covered sintering method is put forward to prepare the high-quality Mo-doped LLZO (LLZMO) ceramic electrolyte. The sintering strategy effectively suppresses the Li-loss to obtain the LLZMO dense ceramics with cubic garnet phase and tight grain boundaries. The LLZMO ceramics sintered at lower temperature of 1050 °C for 2 h via the novel covered sintering exhibit high density ( ρ r = 92.3%) and high-ionic conductivity of 6.08 × 10 –4 S cm −1 at 25 °C, which are close to those of LLZO-based ceramics prepared by hot pressing sintering, ultrafast high-temperature sintering (UHS). The novel covered sintering provides an energy-saving, low-cost and high-efficient strategy to prepare the high-quality LLZO-based ceramics electrolyte.

Direct seawater electrolysis represents a pivotal technology for green hydrogen production. However, achieving efficient and stable cathodic heterostructures capable of maintaining long-term stability under industrial current densities remains a significant challenge. This work reports an in situ constructed Ni-Cr-Fe-Mo heterostructure derived from four transition metal powders, which feature multilevel catalytic heterointerfaces and abundant multifunctional active sites. The heterostructure demonstrates sustained hydrogen evolution for 50 hours at 2 A cm -2 in alkaline and neutral seawater electrolytes, while exhibiting exceptional performance under amperelevel current densities. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that two distinct active sites at the multiscale Ni-Cr-Fe-Mo heterointerfaces synergistically accelerate the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) through a relay catalysis mechanism: one site facilitates H 2 O cleavage and the other promotes H 2 synthesis. This cooperative process not only optimizes reaction kinetics but also enhances corrosion resistance, enabling persistent high-efficiency seawater electrolysis. The study provides fundamental insights into the mechanisms driving long-term operational stability and offers a novel paradigm for developing durable heterostructures for industrial-scale seawater hydrogen production.

The coordinatively unsaturated metal species of metal oxides always play important roles in both constructing oxide-based catalysts and catalyzing some reactions. However, it is a challenge to tune its surface density and stability due to the uncontrolled reduction. Herein, we deposit MoO3 onto different oxides via the simple dry combustion method and find that the host oxides affect formation of coordinatively unsaturated Mo species through the oxide–support interaction, thus strongly altering their reverse water–gas shift activity. The strong oxide–support interaction lowers the reduction temperature of the amorphous oligomeric MoOx species on m-ZrO2 and a-TiO2 supports, generating high surface content of coordinatively unsaturated MoO2-x species with high stability, compared with those on CeO2, γ-Al2O3, and SiO2 supports. Consequently, MoO3/m-ZrO2 displays the highest CO2 reaction rate through the formate reaction pathway, i.e., 19.2 mmolCO2·gcatal–1·h–1, followed by MoO3/a-TiO2 (12.8 mmolCO2·gcatal–1·h–1), which are 21 and 14 times higher than that of MoO3, respectively. Moreover, the MoO3/m-ZrO2 and MoO3/a-TiO2 catalysts also display good stability during the 60 h reaction due to the strong interface bonding. This work provides a way to mediate catalytic performance of metal oxide catalysts through the oxide–support interaction.
