B N pairs create push-pull coupling to upshift p-band center for optimal *OOH adsorption. • B,N co-doped carbon achieves 99% H 2 O 2 selectivity over wide window in 2e − ORR. • The catalyst yields 788 mmol g cat −1 h −1 H 2 O 2 in H-cell and stable 250 mA cm −2 operation for 14 h. • B N synergy breaks π-conjugation uniformity to enable near-unity 2e − ORR. Selective electrocatalytic two-electron oxygen reduction (2e − ORR) offers a green alternative to the energy-intensive anthraquinone process for hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) production. However, the inert π-conjugation of carbon catalysts homogenizes the electronic environment of active sites, making it intrinsically difficult to achieve the optimal *OOH adsorption energy essential for high 2e − selectivity. In this study, we developed B,N co-doped carbon catalysts through a cost-effective pyrolysis method, achieving 99% H 2 O 2 selectivity across a remarkably wide potential window (0.20–0.70 V vs. RHE), an H-cell production rate of 788 mmol g cat −1 h −1 , and sustained operation in a flow cell at 250 mA cm −2 for 14 h with a Faradaic efficiency above 80%. It was demonstrated that engineering adjacent B N pairs within a carbon matrix established a localized push-pull electronic coupling that precisely upshifts the p-band center of active carbon atoms into the theoretically predicted “golden zone” for *OOH adsorption via combined experimental and theoretical analysis. These findings highlight the critical role of heteroatom doping in tailoring electronic structures and provide a scalable strategy for efficient, environmentally friendly H 2 O 2 production using carbon-based catalysts. This work develops B,N co-doped carbon catalysts that achieve 99% H 2 O 2 selectivity and 8 mol g cat −1 h −1 yield via 2e − ORR, leveraging synergistic doping and pyrrolic nitrogen optimization for scalable production. The urgent demand for reliable thermal management, electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding and mechanical properties in aerospace electronics operating under extreme conditions drives the development of advanced multifunctional composites. Herein, the core-shell boron nitride/short carbon fiber (BN/SCF), synthesized via diazonium coupling and electrostatic assembly, is strategically aligned onto CF felts using a high-voltage electric field. Subsequent lamination with CF cloth and vacuum-assisted resin infusion (VARI) molding to fabricate multifunctional carbon fiber/epoxy resin (CF/EP) composites. The three-dimensional CF felt establishes thermal conduction bridges within EP interlayers, effectively mitigating the intrinsic limitation of out-of-plane thermal conductive. Concurrently, the BN nanoplates coated onto SCF enhance EP phonon transport via architecturally ordered crystalline lattice alignment, while oriented SCFs extend phonon pathways, collectively establishing dual phonon-electron thermal channels. Consequently, the CF/EP composites achieved optimal out-of-plane and in-plane thermal conductivities of 1.20 and 14.08 W m -1 K -1 . The unique core-shell BN/SCF promotes multiple reflections of electromagnetic waves (EMWs) through an energy band structure mismatch between the wide bandgap BN and conductive SCF, and BN dielectric polarization, achieving exceptional shielding effectiveness (SE) of 50.06 dB, which was a 63.33 % improvement over the original CF/EP composites (30.65 dB). Moreover, the core-shell BN/SCF acts as rivet-like reinforcements, suppressing crack propagation through synergistic mechanical interlocking and chemical bonding, achieving 35.50 % and 97.35 % enhancement in ILSS and mode II toughness compared to original CF/EP. This multiscale structural engineering strategy demonstrates a material-level solution to fulfill the multifunctional requirements of next-generation aerospace systems operating under extreme environment conditions.

With the increasing demand for dielectric materials in high-frequency microwave applications, fluoropolymer-based dielectric materials have been widely utilized due to their excellent dielectric and insulation properties. However, the low thermal conductivity limits their ability to meet the thermal dissipation requirements during high-frequency and high-speed signal transmission. The present study introduces a pioneering interface engineering strategy wherein C–F bonds on the surface of ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer (ETFE) are photo-catalytically activated, enabling successful grafting of poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) chain segments. Subsequently, the resulting graft copolymers are blended with thermally conductive h-BN filler to prepare composite dielectric materials. The results demonstrate that the incorporation of PGMA segments significantly enhances the interfacial compatibility between the ETFE matrix and h-BN filler, resulting in composites with a dense microstructure and outstanding dielectric and thermal properties. At a filler content of 30 vol%, the ETFE-g-PGMA@BN composite achieves an in-plane thermal conductivity of 4.2 W (m K)−1 and a through-plane thermal conductivity of 0.77 W (m K)−1. Moreover, at 1 GHz, the composite exhibits a dielectric constant of 2.2 and a dielectric loss of 0.004. This work presents a novel interface design strategy for surface modification of PTFE-based fluoropolymers, expanding their potential applications in printed circuit boards (PCBs) and providing a new direction for the design of polymer-based dielectric materials.

Epoxy resin (EP), as a resin material with excellent insulation performance, has been widely applied in fields such as electronics, coatings, ships etc. However, epoxy resins generally have poor thermal conductivity, which limits their application in the field of new generation of electronic packaging. To address the key issues mentioned above, the BN@Fe 3 O 4 particles with positive out-of-plane thermal conductivity were successfully prepared in this study, having a core-shell structure with rough surfaces as well. As a thermal conductive powder, the disadvantage of hexagonal boron nitride being easily agglomerated in resin has been improved. By applying an external magnetic field, three-dimensional thermal conduction pathways were constructed in the matrix. The physical and chemical properties of the BN@Fe 3 O 4 powder and its composite materials were analysed and tested. The experiment indicates that the thermal conductive magnetic powder BN@Fe 3 O 4 had been successfully prepared. When the filling amount of BN@Fe 3 O 4 reached 27.5 vol%, the out-of-plane thermal conductivity of the composite material was 1.758 W m −1 K −1 , which was 982.12% that of pure EP. At this point, the mechanical behaviour and insulation performance of EP composite materials can be effectively guaranteed at the same order of magnitude as pure EP performance.

To increase the fire safety of epoxy resin, this study employed a layer-by-layer self-assembly method to prepare a biologically flame-retardant coating-modified zirconium-based metal-organic framework (chitosan/phytic acid (CS/PA) @UiO-66). This study also attempted to incorporate boron nitride (BN) to enhance the flame-retardant properties of epoxy resin composites. The results from Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscopy confirmed the successful synthesis of UiO-66 and illustrated the assembly of CS and PA onto UiO-66 through a self-assembly strategy. Thermogravimetric analysis in conjunction with cone calorimetry and Raman spectroscopy analyses indicated that incorporating biologically-based flame-retardant coating-modified CS/PA@UiO-66 and BN nanosheets could effectively increase the flame-retardant performance of epoxy composites. Compared with pure epoxy resin, the incorporation of CS/PA@UiO-66-3 and CS/PA@UiO-66-3/BN led to a reduction in the peak heat release rate and total heat release values of 61.13% and 22.36% for EP/CS/PA@UiO-66-3 and EP/CS/PA@UiO-66-3/BN, respectively. Notably, EP/CS/PA@UiO-66-3/BN presented a continuous and dense char layer surface with increased graphite arrangement and higher residual char content after thermal degradation and combustion, thereby providing effective suppression of heat, mass, and oxygen transfer, demonstrating promising flame-retardant efficacy. Consequently, this study successfully improved the fire safety of epoxy resin and presented a new approach for the use of biologically-based flame-retardants.

The rapid development of electronics puts forward higher requirements on the low dielectric materials . Especially, the polymer-based dielectric film with low dielectric constant , high thermal conductivity , and heat-resistance is essential to the flexible electronics. However, the balance of these intended performance is still a big challenge. In this work, we reported the flexible poly (arylene ether nitrile) (PEN) fibrous composite film with low dielectric constant and high thermal conductivity by coaxial electrospinning hot-pressing technique. Interestingly, such bi-functional fibrous composite film was rationally designed by using hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN)/fluorinated PEN (PEN-F) as shell layer and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as the core layer of fibers, which could further form the porous, hollow, and balsam pear-shaped structure after the hot-pressing and dissolution process. Owing to introduction of the h-BN nanosheets , intrinsic fluorine groups of PEN-F, and hollow nanofiber structure, the dielectric constant and dielectric loss of fibrous composite film could be as low as 1.74 and 0.0092 at 1 kHz, respectively. Furthermore, the in-plane thermal conductivity of fibrous composite film could reach 0.811 W m −1 K −1 by incorporation of 7 wt% h-BN. In addition, the fibrous composite film exhibited high thermal stability (T 5 % = 498 °C and T g = 182 °C) and mechanical strength (Tensile strength = 39.2 MPa and tensile modulus = 250.9 MPa). Therefore, this work opens up an alternative method to prepare high-performance polymer composite film with low dielectric constant and high thermal conductivity, which suggests the broad application in the future flexible electronics.

Achieving high thermal conductivity in composites with low filler content is a major challenge in current research. In this paper, polypropylene (PP) and polyamide 6 (PA6) were used as polymer matrix, and the hybrid thermal conductive filler, formed by hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) and aminated carbon nanotubes (NH 2 -CNTs), was integrated into matrix for the fabrication of thermal conductive composites (PP/PA6/h-BN and PP/PA6/h-BN@CNTs) via two-step melt blending technology. The thermal conductive fillers were selectively distributed in a phase of the polymer matrix with a co-continuous structure, forming a thermal conductive path with a three-dimensional network structure. The results show that when the content of h-BN reaches 25 wt%, the thermal conductivity of the PP/PA6/h-BN and PP/PA6/h-BN@CNTs composites was 199% and 300% higher than that of PP/PA6, respectively. Through testing the volume resistivity of the composites, it was confirmed that PP/PA6/h-BN@CNTs composites maintain good electrical insulation. Both composites demonstrated remarkable thermal conductivity and outstanding electrical insulation. This research provides a facile way to prepare highly thermal conductivity polymer composites with excellent processing performances and electrical insulation. Highlights h-BN@CNTs hybrid fillers with sandwich structure were prepared. A two-step blending method was used to control the selective distribution of hybrid fillers in a phase of the polymer matrix with a co-continuous structure. The hybrid filler formed a thermal conductive path with a three-dimensional network structure in the collective. PP/PA6/h-BN@CNTs composites demonstrated remarkable thermal conductivity, outstanding electrical insulation and favorable processing performances.

The development of stable and efficient ODS catalysts for achieving room-temperature catalytic oxidation desulfurization is one of the challenges in the field of catalytic oxidation desulfurization. This work successfully synthesized and evaluated a new type of composite catalyst, Mo8/h-BN, using the wet impregnation method to investigate its desulfurization performance under various conditions. ODS tests were conducted on DBT, BT, and 4,6-DMDBT using Mo8/h-BN as the catalyst, H2O2 as the oxidant, and [BMIM]PF6 as the extractant. Characterization and testing revealed that Mo8/h-BN exhibited excellent ODS activity, converting DBT completely at 60 °C in 10 min. This study not only explored the optimal desulfurization conditions but also investigated the desulfurization performance of the catalyst at room temperature. Additionally, it is speculated that there may be an electron transfer between Mo8 and h-BN, which enhances the stability of the catalyst. Finally, possible CODS mechanisms were inferred through GC-MS and free radical trapping experiments. In conclusion, the composite catalyst Mo8/h-BN provides a new pathway for developing low-energy consumption, sustainable, cost-effective, and efficient desulfurization catalysts.

This study presents an innovative approach to membrane fabrication by integrating electrospinning with surface modification techniques to develop a novel dual-layer protective membrane system. The key innovation lies in the incorporation of photothermally responsive nanocomposites, enabling multifunctional membrane performance. The primary layer is a PVDF-PNIPAAm thermoresponsive matrix synthesized by radical polymerization, integrated with BN@PDA-Ag nanosheets. This design combines Ag nanoparticles’ photothermal conversion and BN’s thermal conductivity to regulate pore size via PNIPAAm chain conformational changes induced by temperature. The secondary layer, comprising CS@CNT and PVDF, significantly enhances membrane hydrophilicity and antifouling properties through chitosan’s hydrophilic groups and chelating capabilities. The membrane demonstrates self-cleaning, adaptive filtration, antifouling and high flux, representing a significant advancement in smart membrane technology for water treatment applications.
