A newly designed N-doped CNTs stabilized Cu 2 O nanoparticles (PVP@CNTs-Cu 2 O) were fabricated and used to remove organic pollutants such as Malachite Green (MG) dye and tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA). The introduction of PVP here not only could stabilize Cu 2 O nanoparticles, but also act as active sites for adsorption of organic pollutants. The hybrid mesoporous adsorbent exhibited excellent adsorption performances for MG and TBBPA, which were mainly because of the synergistic effects of inorganic species and polymer. The maximum adsorption capacities of MG and TBBPA by PVP@CNTs-Cu 2 O were 1495.46 and 116.72 mg/g, respectively, significantly higher than pristine CNTs (417.58 and 68.03 mg/g, respectively). The adsorption of MG was independent of ionic strength. In contrast, the increase in ionic strength significantly inhibited the adsorption of TBBPA. Freundlich isotherm model fitted well with the experimental data of both MG and TBBPA adsorption, indicating the heterogeneous surface of PVP@CNTs-Cu 2 O. PVP@CNTs-Cu 2 O demonstrated rapid adsorption rates for both MG and TBBPA, and their adsorption kinetics were analyzed by the pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order and Elovich kinetic models. The possible mechanisms of MG and TBBPA adsorption was further explored by means of FTIR and XPS. High adsorption capacity, rapid kinetics, good reusability as well as simple preparation were important advantages for the practical application in MG and TBBPA removal by PVP@CNTs-Cu 2 O.

Molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2 ), as an appealing Faradaic material for efficient capacitive deionization (CDI), is limited by unsatisfactory electrical conductivity, inferior removal rate, and restacking. Herein, we develop a CNT/PPy/MoS 2 ternary composite using a robust 3D conductive interconnected structure CNT/PPy, constructed from multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and polypyrrole (PPy) doped with dodecyl benzene sulfonate (DBS - ), as the growing substrate to mitigate the aggregation of MoS 2 nanoflakes. In this design, CNT/PPy ameliorates the wettability of the composite, provides convenient movement pathways, a fast charge transport rate, and facilitates ions diffusion process. Moreover, reinforced dispersibility and enlarged interlayer spacing of MoS 2 nanoflakes supply sufficient embedded sites for ion uptake and rapid transfer. Meanwhile, tight chemical coupling of Mo-N-C bonds can maintain the structural integrity of the composite electrode. Particularly, the symmetrical electrode configuration was established to address the kinetical unbalance of HCDI system. Consequently, the CNT/PPy/MoS 2 displays a large specific capacitance of 160.83 F g −1 at 5 mV s −1 , which is nearly 4.33 times that of MoS 2 (37.17 F g −1 ). The optimized CNT/PPy/MoS 2 cell achieves a maximum desalination capacity of 24.8 mg g −1 , ultra-high deionization rate of 5.24 mg g −1 min −1 , and superior capacity retention rate of 92.7% over 25 cycles. In addition, Na + ions were captured by the joint action of cation-exchange of DBS - -doped PPy, electrostatic adsorption of CNTs, and intercalation reaction of MoS 2 . The proposed composite structural design and electrode configuration should be a potential avenue to realize highly efficient deionization.

Developing the synergistic magnetic-dielectric composites with multiple loss mechanism as excellent microwave absorber is the goal pursued by researchers, but the effective regulation of specific mechanism still remains a challenge. In this work, we fabricated the customized composites of mesoporous carbon hollow sphere (MCHS)@Co@carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for high-performance microwave absorption (MA). First, MCHS with hierarchical porous structure was selected as light dielectric substrate. Then, metal Co nanoparticles were introduced into the pores of MCHS to provide magnetic loss and as catalyst. Last, the CNTs are in-situ grafted on MCHS to serve as electrons transportation channels to reinforce conductive loss. The obtained magnetic-dielectric composites integrated multiple loss mechanism present excellent MA performance with strong absorption intensity of –37.3 dB and wide effective absorption bandwidth of 8.0 GHz under low filling ratio of 20%. Moreover, the conductive loss can be tuned through regulating the length of CNTs. It is confirmed that the appropriate length of CNTs can endow the composites with feasible microwave attenuation ability and impedance matching feature. This work provides a new way to control loss mechanism from microstructure design to optimize MA capability.

As the quintessential material for flexible sensors, conductive hydrogels face an inherent sensitivity-sensing range paradox and electrical-mechanical balance, which significantly curtail its applicability in multiscale motion detection. Inspired by the spider slit sensor, PAM/CNTs-Au hydrogel microcrack sensor is obtained by depositing conductive gold film on the surface of PAM/CNTs hydrogel using magnetron sputtering. By modulating the cross-linking density of conductive hydrogels and the content of carbon nanotubes (CNTs), it is possible to tailor the mechanical properties and adhesion of PAM/CNTs-Au hydrogel crack-based sensors. This self-adhering flexible sensor aids in minimizing detection errors arising from mechanical mismatch between flexible sensors and human tissues. Moreover, the exceptional electrical conductivity of CNTs, coupled with their unique one-dimensional structure, facilitates the formation of an interconnected conductive network "bridge" within the hydrogel. The harmonization of electrical and mechanical attributes in the PAM/CNTs flexible substrate is achieved by finely tuning the crosslinking density of the PAM hydrogel and the content of carbon CNTs. Simultaneously, the high-conductivity "islands" formed by the Au conductive layer during stretching ensures elevated sensitivity (gauge factor (GF) = 54.89) over an extensive detection range (>1200%). The distinctive "island-bridge" configuration of the PAM/CNTs-Au hydrogel microcrack sensor effectively suppresses crack propagation, thereby markedly augmenting the sensor's stability. Successful monitoring of physiological and motion signals across various scales attests to the potential of the PAM/CNTs-Au hydrogel microcrack sensor in wearable biosensor.

With the development of the internet of things (IoT) and the rise of the concept of the internet of everything, wearable sensor devices are booming as mobile terminals and have a huge market value. However, the fabrication of nanofiber membrane-based pressure sensors with special microstructures remains a significant challenge. In this study, template-assisted electrospinning was used to fabricate microhemispherical thermoplastic polyurethane (TT) nanofiber membranes. The preparation of MXene@CNTs/TT (MCTT) nanofiber membranes was conducted via the ultrasound-assisted dip-coating method, utilizing MXene and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) as composite conductive materials. Subsequently, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) encapsulation was employed to prepare PDMS-MCTT conductive nanofiber membranes. Utilizing an aligned assembly strategy based on the microhemispherical structure, the PDMS-MCTT bilayer pressure sensor exhibits high sensitivity (Smax = 471.3 kPa–1), wide pressure range (0–521.6 kPa), low detection limit (0.003 kPa), fast response time (7 and 8 ms) and reliable cycling performance (3000 cycles). In addition, the sensor offers excellent breathability and hydrophobicity (contact angle of 132.7°). Usefulness of the sensor in detecting body signals highlights its potential for motion detection and health monitoring.

The multifunctional electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials have become more and more indispensable due to serious electromagnetic radiation pollution and harsh wild environments. Herein, hydrophobic MXene/CNTs/oxidized sodium alginate/collagen (MCAC) composite aerogel with excellent EMI shielding, Joule heating and thermal insulation performance was prepared via unidirectional freeze-drying and dip-coating with PDMS. The 1D 2D conductive network between MXene and CNTs endowed hydrophobic MCAC composite aerogel with high electrical conductivity (178.45 S/m), excellent EMI shielding effectiveness (61.47 dB at a thickness of 2 mm) and low-voltage-driven Joule heating (up to 90 °C at 6 V). Furthermore, hydrophobic MCAC composite aerogel also exhibited superhydrophobicity (contact angle of 157.2°) and extraordinary thermal insulation performance. This work provides a forward-looking idea for building multifunctional EMI shielding materials with superior EMI SE, which have potential applications in aerospace, portable electronic devices, and defense industries.

The pursuit of enhanced photoelectrochemical (PEC) water-splitting performance in carbon nitride (CN) photoanodes has led to numerous strategies due to its visible light responsiveness, affordability, and stability. Nonetheless, the rapid electron-hole recombination, poor conductivity, and sluggish surface reaction kinetics remain significant challenges for its applications. In this study, we successfully introduced ternary CoNiFe layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanocages onto carbon nanotubes (CNTs)-doped CN photoanodes. Improved crystallinity and accelerated charge transfer were achieved after CNTs doping for enhanced charge separation during the PEC reactions. Besides, the electronic band structure of CN/FTO photoanode was modulated for increased carrier concentration. The decoration of CoNiFe LDH nanocages not only provides more efficient reaction active sites but also accelerates the catalytic reaction kinetics for lower onset potential and improved PEC performance. The photocurrent density for CoNiFe-LDH/CN-CNTs/FTO photoanode increased around 4 times higher than that for the in-situ fabricated CN/FTO without any sacrificial agent in alkaline. The synergy corporation of LDH and CNTs brings more available holes with a longer lifetime and more active sites for water oxidation. This innovative approach establishes a new avenue for designing highly efficient water oxidation cocatalysts on semiconductor photoanodes, promising rational advancements in PEC applications.

Flexible wearable strain sensors have attracted much attention in the field of health monitoring due to their advantages of simple preparation process and good comfort. However, in daily use, factors like friction, sweat during exercise, or harsh environments such as rain may lead to the failure of the strain sensor. Therefore, this study designed a strain sensor that is waterproof, wear-resistant, resistant to various corrosive fluids and has biodegradation characteristics. The strain sensor was prepared by using carbon nanotubes (CNTs) with high length-to-diameter ratio as conductive filler and environment-friendly polybutylene terephthalate (PBAT) as matrix and packaging materials. The CNTs/PBAT strain sensor has reversible and repeatable resistance at 5 %–30 % strain, stable cycle durability (2500 cycles), and low carbon nanotube content (0.45 %). Moerover, it has thermal repair properties that can eliminate creep caused by long-term use of polymers and extend their service-life. In addition, the PBAT/CNTs/PBAT strain sensor operates safely within the safe voltage range of the human body, can monitor body movement in air and water, and has a wide range of applications in wearable sports health.

As a crucial component in phase change heat storage systems, phase change materials have demonstrated remarkable application potential across diverse fields, such as solar energy storage systems, magnetic induction energy conversion, and storage. This research reports a high-performance photomagnetically driven composite phase change materials. The photomagnetic response unit was fabricated via the hydrothermal coprecipitation method by in-situ loading of Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles onto carbon nanotubes (CNTs@Fe 3 O 4 ). Subsequently, it was integrated with the Na 2 SO 4 ·10H 2 O-Na 2 HPO 4 ·12H 2 O eutectic salt to synthesize the composite PCM heat storage material.Experimental findings indicate that the composite incorporating 2.5 % CNTs@Fe 3 O 4 exhibits nearly zero subcooling (ΔT = 0.1 °C), a thermal conductivity as high as 1.0230 W/(m·K), a significant latent heat of phase transformation (melting enthalpy of 253 J/g and solidification enthalpy of 218 J/g), and an enthalpy retention rate of 94.8 % after 1000 thermal cycles. The Fe 3 O 4 endows the material with excellent magneto-thermal conversion performance. Specifically, at a 2.5 % doping content, the temperature increase within 240 s in an alternating magnetic field can reach 67.2 °C through the Néel/Brownian relaxation mechanism. Additionally, the CNTs carrier enhances the photothermal conversion efficiency to 94.5 %. This material combines high thermal conductivity, cycle stability, and dual-field (optical/magnetic) driven heat storage capabilities, thus demonstrating significant application potential in multifunctional thermal energy storage.

Integrating high-entropy philosophy and nanocrystal-specific orientation into a single catalyst represents a promising strategy in development of high-performance catalysts. Nonetheless, shape-controlled synthesis of high-entropy alloy (HEA) nanocrystals is challenging owing to the distinct redox potentials and growth dynamics of metal elements. Herein, a one-pot co-reduction method is developed to fabricate ruthenium (Ru)-doped PtFeNiCuW octahedral HEA nanocrystals onto carbon nanotubes (Ru–PtFeNiCuW/CNTs). It is demonstrated that Ru dopants and W(CO) 6 promote the concurrent reduction and growth of other metal precursors to obtain higher yield and larger size of HEA nanocrystals, despite low Ru content in Ru–PtFeNiCuW/CNTs. As an electrocatalyst toward hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), Ru–PtFeNiCuW/CNTs exhibits low overpotentials of 9, 16, and 34 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm −2 and Tafel slopes of 19.2, 27.9, and 23.1 mV dec −1 in acidic, alkaline, and neutral electrolytes, respectively. As a cathodic catalyst, Ru–PtFeNiCuW/CNTs operates for up to 1500 and 1200 h in acidic and alkaline electrolyte, respectively, at a current density of 50 mA cm −2 in a two-electrode system for full water splitting. Theoretical calculations reveal accelerated kinetics of H 2 O dissociation on W sites and *H desorption on hollow Cu–Cu–Cu and Cu–Cu–Pt sites.

With the advancement of 5G communications, the Internet of Things (IoT), and wearable electronics, there has been an increasing demand for lightweight, flexible, and high-performance electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials. In this study, AgNWs/TOCNF/CNTs* nanocomposite films with Janus structure were successfully prepared by vacuum-assisted filtration followed by hot pressing. The film consisted of a conductive silver nanowire (AgNWs) layer and a supporting TOCNF/CNTs* layer. Specifically, the electromagnetic shielding and mechanical properties were effectively enhanced by constructing a three-dimensional (3D) network within the TOCNF/CNTs* layer through ionic crosslinking between Ca 2+ ions and carboxylate anions (−COO − ). Comprehensive characterization demonstrated that the film possessed excellent mechanical strength (tensile strength of 93.92 ± 3.20 MPa), superior electrical conductivity (67,114 S/m), outstanding EMI shielding effectiveness (EMI SET of 63.70 dB, EMI SEE/t exceeding 10,284 dB·cm 2 /g, and a shielding efficiency of 99.999957 %), as well as rapid Joule heating response under low voltage (2.0 V, reaching 115.60°C within less than 6s). These properties underscore the film’s strong potential for applications in portable electronics, aerospace, and military technologies.

At present, superhydrophobic coatings have a wide range of applications in self-cleaning, drag reduction, and corrosion protection. However, their poor mechanical stability has a significant impact on the service life and effectiveness of the coatings. In addressing this challenge, this study introduced epoxy resin (EP) with high strength and strong adhesion as the resin matrix. The composite coating, synthesized through a straightforward spraying technique, incorporates modified carbon nanotubes (F-CNTs) and hydrophobic fumed nanosilica (SiO 2 ) as fillers. The robust EP/F-CNTs/SiO 2 superhydrophobic coating exhibited excellent anti-rubbing ability and superadhesion strength, which was attributed to the EP intermediate layer significantly enhancing the adhesion strength between the coating and the stainless steel substrate with a remarkable adhesion grade of one. Tafel and EIS test results revealed a corrosion inhibition efficiency of up to 99.75% for the coating. The exceptional corrosion resistance of the coating is attributed to the outstanding electron transfer capability of F-CNTs. In addition, the coating could resist corrosion from strong acids and bases. It is believed that the facile and low-cost method offers an effective strategy and promising industrial applications for fabricating robust and super anti-corrosion superhydrophobic surfaces on various metallic materials.
