A facile method that combines alkali-assisted oxidation and –SH chelation with a click chemistry reaction was employed to create an F-POSS polymer surface (fluorinated octavinyl polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane polymer)-based Cu mesh (F-POSS-OM). The as-prepared F-POSS-OM surface displayed a cohering hierarchical nano-F-POSS polymer granule/micro-Cu(OH)2 wire structure, which provided a re-entrant geometry needed for liquid-repellency and low liquid sliding angles (<15°). Moreover, the easy-prepared structure endows the F-POSS-OM with remarkable durability for mechanical and chemical damages, including wear abrasion, tape-peeling, 100 cm-height hammer impact, severe hand twisting, strong acid/base/salt solutions, and high temperatures. Importantly, F-POSS-OM still retained excellent self-cleaning performance even after being subjected to these damages.

The generation of electricity from salinity difference energy between seawater and freshwater through a Capacitive Mixing (CapMix) system with solid electrodes was limited by intermittent energy production. In this study, a single-cell CapMix system using flow-electrode (F-CapMix) with a cross-chamber configuration was examined to produce electricity continuously from simulated seawater and freshwater. The effects of the flow-electrode electrolyte concentration, activated carbon loading, amounts of carbon black, and connected external resistance on the system performance were investigated. The results suggest that the system performance can be enhanced by increasing the activated carbon loading and carbon black amounts. Furthermore, to achieve the maximum power density of the system, the external resistance should be matched to the internal resistance. The maximum power density of the presented single-cell F-CapMix system was 74.3 mW m−2, which was comparable to those of previous CapMix and F-CapMix systems. In addition, this study also reveals that using only carbon black as the flow electrode is capable of producing electricity continuously for long-term operation. In summary, these results indicate the potential of F-CapMix and provide developing directions for further optimization.

Imidacloprid, chlorpyrifos, and glyphosate rank among the most extensively employed pesticides worldwide. The effects of these pesticides and their combined on the flight capability of Apis cerana , and the potential underlying mechanisms remain uncertain. To investigate these effects, we carried out flight mill, transcriptome, and metabolome experiments. Our findings reveal that individual acute oral treatments with pesticides, specifically 20 μL of 10 ng/g imidacloprid (0.2 ng per bee), 30 ng/g chlorpyrifos (0.6 ng per bee), and 60 ng/g glyphosate (1.2 ng per bee), did not impact the flight capability of the bees. However, when bees were exposed to a combination of two or three pesticides, a notable reduction in flight duration and distance was observed. In the transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses, we identified 307 transcripts and 17 metabolites that exhibited differential expression following exposure to combined pesticides, primarily associated with metabolic pathways involved in energy regulation. Our results illuminate the intricate effects and potential hazards posed by combined pesticide exposures on bee behavior. These findings offer valuable insights into the synergistic potential of pesticide combinations and their capacity to impair bee behavior. Understanding these complex interactions is essential for comprehending the broader consequences of pesticide formulations on honey bee populations.

g-C 3 N 4 (CN) based catalysts were effective for photocatalytic ozonation (PCO), but their stability during reaction remained a mystery. This study investigated the change on PCO activity and stability of CN induced by F or I doping. Compared with CN, F-CN had the greater VB potential while I-CN had a greater CB position, which both led to their better O 3 activation. F-CN and I-CN PCO showed the greater oxalic acid (OA) degradation than that of CN PCO process. Though the enhanced activity, both F-CN and I-CN demonstrated the lower stability compared with that of CN. Because of the existing of reactive oxygen species (ROS) like •OH, •O 2 - and h vb + , CN, F-CN and I-CN were partially oxidized, generating NO 3 - and organic molecules such as cyanuric acid. h vb + and •OH mainly accounted for the decomposition of three CN. Triazine ring oxidation resulted in internal tearing and edge fracture as well as the formation of O-containing groups on all CN-based catalysts. O contents in catalysts initially increased and then decreased with reaction time, indicating that surface O-containing groups were unstable. The structural destroy could be eased with the present of organic pollutants. This study deepened the understanding of fate of CN based catalysts during PCO application.

The F and Sb co-doped Ti/SnO 2 electrode containing Sn-Sb interlayer was innovatively synthesized for electro-oxidation (EO) removal of perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) in water. Stronger oxidation capability and remarkably longer lifetime were performed for Ti/Sn-Sb/SnO 2 -F-Sb electrode than these similar electrodes in this study without Sn-Sb interlayer and F/Sb doping, which could removed more than 99% of PFOS ( C 0 = 100 mg L −1 ) after 120-min electrolysis. The attribute of Ti/Sn-Sb/SnO 2 -F-Sb anode and its EO mechanism were surveyed by XRD, XPS, SEM, and LSV. F and Sb co-doping could improve the stability and EO capability of the electrode, which resulted from that the smooth surface was formed conveniently to produce physically adsorbed hydroxyl radical and lead to relatively high OEP. The operating parameters of EO process were also investigated including current density, pH value, and stirring speed, which revealed the effect of these parameters on PFOS decomposition. Additionally, the mineralization parameters, TOC and F − concentration, as well as short-chain perfluorocarboxylic acids were analyzed in solution during the electrolysis. Consequently, the EO pathway of PFOS was proposed through the detection of intermediates. These results manifest that Ti/Sn-Sb/SnO 2 -F-Sb anode is prospective to effectively decompose PFOS in wastewater.

Six types of phenolic foaming resins were synthesized at room temperature with different formaldehyde/phenol (F/P) ratios in this study. The effects of F/P ratios on physicochemical characteristics and foaming properties of the resulting resins were analyzed based on viscosity, solids content, hydroxymethyl index, residual monomer content, molecular structure of the foaming resin, flame retardancy, and foam compression strength measurements. The results of the present study indicated that viscosity and solids content of the foaming resins increased with an increase in F/P; the hydroxymethyl index of the resin first increased and then decreased with an increase in F/P, reaching its maximum at F/P = 1.6; the trimer, tetramer, and pentamer contents of the resins increased with an increase in F/P. Nuclear magnetic resonance ( 13 C NMR) spectral analysis indicated that the presence of para / para -methylene, para -hydroxymethyl, and ortho -hydroxymethyl groups in the resin gradually increased with an increase in F/P; the proportions of ortho/ortho - and ortho / para -methylene bonds of the resin increased as F/P was increased. The increase in F/P was demonstrated to be conducive to improving the compression strength, thermal stability, and flame retardancy of the phenolic foam and reducing its peak heat release rate and total smoke release. The morphology of phenolic foams show that the closed cell content in the PF foam increases with the F/P ratio until it reaches a ratio of 1.6. Furthermore, the cell size becomes more uniform. POLYM. Deoxynivalenol (DON) poses a serious global food safety risk due to its high toxicity and contamination rate. It disrupts the intestinal epithelial barrier, allowing exogenous toxins to enter the circulation and resulting in sepsis and systemic toxicity. In this research, 32 male Kunming mice and Porcine Small Intestinal Epithelial (IPEC-J2) cells were treated with DON at 0–4.8 mg/kg (7 d) and 0–12 μM (24 h), respectively. Histopathological results revealed that DON disrupted the intestinal epithelial barrier, causing apoptosis and tight junction (TJ) injury. Immunofluorescence and protein expression results showed that DON-induced p53-dependent mitochondrial pathway apoptosis and fibrillar actin (F-actin)-associated TJ injury and that the RhoA/ROCK pathway were activated in mice jejunal tissue and IPEC-J2 cells. Pretreatment with RhoA or ROCK inhibitors (Rosin or Y-27632) maintained DON-induced apoptosis and F-actin-associated TJ injury in IPEC-J2 cells. Thus, DON induces damage to the intestinal epithelial barrier through the RhoA/ROCK pathway-mediated apoptosis and F-actin-associated TJ disruption.

Hyperuricemia-related diabetic wounds are notoriously difficult to treat due to elevated uric acid (UA) levels, excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS), and chronic inflammation. Current therapies often fail to address these underlying causes, underscoring the need for innovative approaches that not only clear UA but also mitigate inflammation and promote tissue regeneration. In this study, we developed a polyrotaxane-based microsphere (HPR MS) system conjugated with 4,5-diamino-2-thiouracil (DT) to achieve high-affinity UA clearance without increasing cytotoxicity. By leveraging the molecular motility of the polyrotaxane structure, featuring β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) shuttles along the F-127 axis, we significantly improved the molecular recognition between DT and UA for enhanced UA absorption efficiency. In vitro experiments confirmed that HPR/DT MS rapidly reduced UA levels compared to control groups. Using a type 2 diabetic wound model, HPR/DT MS treatment effectively reduced UA levels, suppressed COX-2 expression, and transformed the immune microenvironment from a pro-inflammatory to a regenerative state in vivo . This was accompanied by enhanced M2 macrophage polarization, angiogenesis, and improved blood perfusion, resulting in accelerated wound healing. Overall, these findings highlight HPR/DT MS as a promising therapeutic strategy for hyperuricemia-related diabetic wounds, targeting the core pathological factors to improve wound repair.

The carbon-based catalysts exhibit excellent electrocatalytic and stable performance toward oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), which are expected to replace expensive and scarce Pt-based catalysts. However, how to regulate the interaction between silver and carrier carbon dots (CD) to improve electrocatalytic performance toward oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and stability, has not been systematically studied. In this study, we in-situ synthesized fluorine and nitrogen co-doped CD anchoring Ag nanoparticles by UV irradiation reduction method. The peak potential, onset-potential and half-wave potential of F, [email protected] are 0.85 V, 1.056 V, and 0.9 V, respectively, indicating outstanding ORR performance. The current density of F, [email protected] remains 97.5 % after 50, 000 s, showing more excellent stability than Pt/C. The impressive ORR catalytic activity and stability of F, [email protected] could be attributed to the strong anchoring effect of nitrogen-doped CD on Ag. This effect leads to a significant interaction and charge transfer between Ag and CD, thereby enhancing the charge transfer process during the catalytic reaction. This project aims to design a carbon dot/silver composite catalyst with high ORR catalytic performance and favorable stability. The implementation of this project provides good theoretical guidance for the design of carbon nanomaterial-based catalytic systems.

The integration of Cobalt hydroxide fluoride Co( OH )F-based materials is expected to significantly enhance the electrochemical performance of supercapacitor electrodes. In this work, Co( OH )F with various morphologies was synthesized using a simple hydrothermal method and evaluated as an electrode material for supercapacitors. The porous nano square-like morphology exhibited excellent durability in electrochemical reactions, providing abundant active sites. Furthermore, the highly electronegative fluorine atom contributes to fast ion diffusion to electrode surface and reduces intrinsic resistance during the reaction, leading to remarkable electrochemical performance. Remarkably, the optimized Co( OH )F 450 exhibited an ultrahigh specific capacitance of 558 F g −1 at a current density of 1 A g −1 , which is greater than that of Co( OH )F 300 , and Co( OH )F 150 electrodes. Furthermore, the device delivered outstanding cyclic performance, maintaining 80 % capacitance retention after 10,000 charge-discharge cycles. Finally, the Co( OH )F 450 electrode demonstrates a promising energy density of 27 Wh kg −1 at a power density of 2571 W kg −1 . Above results suggest that Co( OH )F 450 electrode could pave way for the development of high-performance electrodes in the field of energy storage.

The medicinal value ofP. zhennanhas been documented in traditional Chinese medicine books. The aim of this paper was to study the antioxidant activity of alcoholic extracts ofP. zhennanleavesusing 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2-phenyl-4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazolineoxyl-1-oxyl-3-oxide (PTIO) radical scavenging and ferric ion reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) assays. The active components of the leaves were identified via headspace solid-phase microextraction and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS). The results showed that the scavenging rate of DPPH was 94.67%with an EC50 value of 0.674 mg/mL at a concentration of 2 mg/mL. The maximum scavenging rate was 47.40% at a Trolox equivalent of 0.33 mg TE/mL for PTIO radicals. The FRAP reached 84.80% at 0.20 mg/mL concentration. The results confirmed the strong antioxidant activity of the extracts. Furthermore, 44 compounds, mostly terpenoids, obtained from the alcoholic extracts ofP. zhennanleaves were analyzed using HS-SPME-GC-MS and 15 of these compounds had a relative content exceeding 1%. The strong antioxidant activity of the alcoholic extracts ofP. zhennanleaves could be attributed to the presence of copaene (33.97%), β-caryophyllene (4.42%), δ-cadinene (11.04%), γ-muurolene (4.78%), cis-calamenene (2.02%), linalool (1.04%), α-pinene (1.46%), borneol acetate (1.5%), and γ-terpinene (0.66%). This study demonstrates the potential medicinal value of alcoholic extracts ofP. zhennanleaves.

Photocatalytic reduction of CO 2 exhibits unsatisfactory photocatalytic performance owing to the inefficient separation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs, low CO 2 capture efficiency and limited visible light absorption on most photo-catalysts. Herein, Ti F bridged IL-CuCQDs-F/TiO 2 inverse opal composite (IO-CFTi) was constructed for boosting CO 2 visible-photo reduction via slow photo effect. In this work, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA(Cu)) and imidazole ionic liquid 1-(2-Hydroxyethyl)-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([HOEtMIM][BF 4 ]) were employed to confine grow of IL-CuCQDs-F within TiO 2 inverse opal supporter via Ti F bonds connection. Unique IL-CuCQDs-F efficiently expended light absorption towards visible region, and the confined growth of IL-CuCQDs-F within the TiO 2 inverse opal cavity achieved the photoelectric conversion and efficient CO 2 capture. Moreover, their Ti F bonding interface of IO-CFTi assisted photogenerated electron transportation from TiO 2 to CO 2 for its reduction in this system. Consequently, IO-CFTi achieved a substantially increased CO production rate of 78.1 μmol·h −1 ·g −1 with 98 % selectivity. This improved performance in CO 2 photoreduction positions the nanocomposite as a promising material for preservation of the environment and conversion of energy.
