Epoxy composite coating with active corrosion inhibition property was prepared through cathodic electrophoretic deposition with the incorporation of Ti 3 C 2 Tx@Mg-Al layered double hydroxides (LDH) hybrid material . Hydrothermal method was adopted to synthesize molybdate (MoO 4 2− )-intercalated Mg Al LDH, which was self-assembled on the surface of Ti 3 C 2 Tx MXene through electrostatic interaction to improve the zeta potential of the Ti 3 C 2 Tx surface to positive value. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy , X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscope, scanning electron microscope, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, zeta (ζ) potentials test and uv-vis spectroscopic analysis results showed that Mg Al LDH and Ti 3 C 2 Tx@Mg-Al LDH were successfully prepared and Ti 3 C 2 Tx@Mg-Al LDH had ion exchange property. The prepared LDH and Ti 3 C 2 Tx@Mg-Al LDH were added to electrophoretic paint as anti-corrosive additives. After deposition process of 150 V for 2 min on the P110 steel surface, composite coatings had thicknesses of ~110 μm. Electrophoretic deposition has advantages in controlling coating thickness than traditional spray method. Moreover, Ti 3 C 2 Tx@Mg-Al LDH additive endowed composite coating with active corrosion inhibition capacity through ions exchange property between corrosive medium Cl − and MoO 4 2− in the Mg Al LDH interlayer. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) test results showed that Ti 3 C 2 Tx@Mg-Al LDH/epoxy coating exhibited outstanding corrosion protection property. This research provides a new way of using Ti 3 C 2 Tx MXene in the cathodic electrophoretic paint to prepare active anti-corrosive coating.

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries have emerged as a highly promising energy storage technologies due to their abundant resources, high safety, and environmental friendliness. However, the cycle stability of Aqueous zinc-ion batteries is severely constrained by zinc dendrite growth on the anode and accompanying side reactions in the electrolyte. Mitigating this effect is crucial for the large-scale application of zinc-ion batteries, and separator modification is regarded as an effective strategy to address these challenges. Here, a method of modifying the glass fiber composite separator with amino-functionalized MXene (Ti₃C₂Tₓ) is attempted to alleviate these problems. The modified Ti₃C₂Tₓ was uniformly loaded on the surface of glass fiber separator by vacuum filtration to fabricate the composite separator. Systematic characterization and electrochemical testing revealed that the composite separator with an optimal coating loading of 2 mg cm⁻² significantly enhanced battery performance. The cycle life of Zn//Zn symmetric cells were markedly extended at 5 mA cm⁻², and specifically, reached 250 h at 0.5 mA cm⁻², which is about 8 times longer than that of the unmodified glass fiber separator (~ 30 h). Furthermore, the Zn||MnO₂ all-cell based on this composite separator also exhibited a higher capacity retention rate after 1200 cycles compared to the blank separator group. This provides an effective research direction for the design of high-performance Aqueous zinc-ion batteries separators. Graphical abstract

In this investigation, we have employed a novel approach to fabricate β–Sialon/Ti(C, N) composites through the nitridation treatment of Ti 3 SiC 2 powder. At temperatures ranging from 1373 to 1773 K, the reaction process was subjected to a comprehensive analysis to explore the transformation of phase and microstructure. The findings unequivocally highlight the influence of α–Al 2 O 3 presence and the high specific surface area of Ti 3 SiC 2 powder, resulting in distinctive phase and structural evolutions post nitridation, distinctly different from those observed in bulk Ti 3 SiC 2 . The β–Sialon/Ti(C, N) composites produced via this innovative method exhibit uniform local chemical composition and meticulous regulation of grain morphology. Moreover, the synthesis mechanism of β–Sialon/Ti(C, N) composites under nitrogen ambiance was thoroughly discussed. This straightforward approach has the potential for extensive–scale synthesis of β–Sialon/Ti(C, N) composites, offering promising avenues for their application in developing high–performance refractories or structural ceramics tailored to withstand severe high–temperature environments.

Despite the outstanding theoretical capacities of two-dimensional (2D) molybdenum sulfide (MoS2) with low costs, its low conductivity and easy agglomeration greatly impede the business application as anode materials. The heterostructures between 2D MoS2 and Ti3C2 MXene are able to combine the collective superiorities of MoS2 and Ti3C2, thus greatly ameliorating the electrical conductivity and rate capacity through synergistic effects. Herein, we design a simple intercalation–sulfidation strategy for the construction of the TH MoS2/Ti3C2 heterostructures with a compact stacking lamellar structure and investigate the electrochemical sodium storage properties of the composite. In the architecture, fallen leaf-like MoS2 nanosheets with a mixed-phase crystal containing 1T and 2H phases grow tightly on the surface and interlayer of Ti3C2 matrixes. The expanded layer spacing of Ti3C2 as a result of MoS2 insertion can greatly accelerate electronic/sodium ion transport. Meanwhile, 2D Ti3C2 can serve as a strong mechanical support for the composite electrode to provide a buffer space for volume expansion and avoid structural collapse during cycles. Benefiting from these structural advantages, the TH MoS2/Ti3C2 anode reveals higher sodium storage capacity of 743.6 mAh g–1 than bare MoS2 (579.4 mAh g–1) at 0.2 A g–1. Furthermore, the anode exhibits significantly improved battery rate performance with a high sodium storage capacity of 653.3, 539.1, 512.1, 488.7, 439.3, and 586.7 mAh g–1 at 0.2, 0.5, 1, 2, 5, and 0.2 A g–1. Our study provides a unique synthesis route to construct layered heterostructure composites by artificial stacking of different types of 2D materials, which are considered as highly promising electrode materials for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs).

Rapid and accurate pathogen detection is critical for optimizing clinical decision-making within precision medicine frameworks, specifically for identifying Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) in wound infections. Most of conventional detection methods suffer from procedural complexity, protracted analysis times, and insufficient sensitivity, thereby constraining their clinical deployment. In this work, an optical fiber surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor enhanced by Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene was developed for detecting S. aureus , biofunctionalized with goat anti-human immunoglobulin G (IgG). The optimal thickness of Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene layer, determined to be approximately 94 nm based on maximizing figure of merit (FOM) of 17.88 RIU −1 , yielded high sensitivity and low full width at half maximum (FWHM). By monitoring SPR wavelength shifts in the transmission spectra, the sensor was employed to detect S. aureus with a low limit of detection (LOD) of 1.14 CFU/mL and a high sensitivity of 3.063 nm/log (CFU/mL). It exhibited excellent linearity across the concentration range of 10 2 –10 8 CFU/mL, alongside high stability and selectivity. Validation using S. aureus -infected wound tissue from diabetic murine models exhibited a precision exceeding 97 %. This technology represents a promising avenue for developing next-generation, high-performance biosensing platforms with significant translational potential in precision medicine diagnostics.

In this work, a unique three-dimensional (3D) network NiFeCoP@Ti₃C₂Tₓ composite, consisting of Co, Fe co-doped Ni 2 P (NiFeCoP) nanosheets anchored on Ti₃C₂Tₓ nanosheets via heterojunction, was situ constructed by phosphidizing the NiFeCo-LDH@Ti₃C₂Tₓ precursor. The 3D network structure establishes a 3D conductive network while generating a built-in electric field at the heterointerface, which efficiently accelerates electron/ion transport and simultaneously improves the structure stability of the electrode. DFT calculations demonstrate that Co doping further optimizes the electronic structure of NiFeCoP, introduces additional active sites, thereby promoting electrochemical reaction kinetics. Meanwhile, the synergistic effect among Ni, Fe, and Co with different redox potentials effectively buffers the volume changes during charge/discharge processes. Consequently, NiFeCoP@Ti₃C₂Tₓ as lithium ion batteries (LIBs) anode shows outstanding electrochemical performance at different current density (950 mAh/g after 340 cycles at 0.5 A/g, 816 mAh/g after 900 cycles at 1 A/g, 541 mAh/g after 1000 cycles at 2 A/g).

Carbon coatings hold great promise for next-generation non-conductive energy storage nanomaterials . However, simplicity, stable, uniformity and high-performance remain unresolved issues. Here, unique synergy of the fluidized bed reactor with plasmas enables highly-effective, single-step fluidized-bed plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (FB-PECVD) of uniform, low-temperature carbon coatings on TiO 2 nano-powder (TiO 2 @C). Plasma-specific effects induce the formation of new phases that are beneficial for energy storage. The 6 nm carbon layer is grown within only 10 min, while the TiO 2 maintains its anatase phase. The unique plasma conditions make it possible to form Ti–C bonds at the Ti/C interface at much lower temperatures than achievable otherwise. The electronic transport at the interface and structural stability are thus greatly improved. Consequently, TiO 2 @C shows excellent electrochemical performances as a negative electrode of sodium ion battery , such as specific discharge capacity of 290.2 mA h g −1 at 50 mA g −1 and very stable long-term cyclability (101.2% capacity retention over 300 cycles at 4000 mA g −1 ). Our results show that FB-PECVD is not only a versatile method for bond-reinforced interface nanoparticle coating with carbon, but also provide a new strategy for designing hybrid-phase electrochemically active nanocomposite materials.

High-performance ceramic cutting tools require superior hardness and toughness under extreme temperatures; yet conventional sintering methods for Al 2 O 3 -Ti(C,N) composites often suffer from incomplete densification and grain coarsening. In this study, dynamic sinter forging (DSF) with oscillatory pressure amplitudes of 40 ± 40 MPa at 1600 °C is employed to regulate the densification behaviour and microstructural evolution of Al 2 O 3 -Ti(C,N) composites. The composite achieves a relative density above 99.9%, flexural strength of 1111 MPa, and hardness of 24.5 GPa at 15 Hz. A maximum fracture toughness of 5.44 MPa m 1/2 is obtained at 10 Hz. Microstructural observations reveal that moderate-frequency oscillation activate interfacial diffusion and stress-assisted plastic flow, promoting grain-boundary sliding and compact bonding to form a fine-grained and homogeneous structure. These results confirm that frequency-controlled DSF facilitates simultaneous enhancement of strength and toughness, providing a valid route for fabricating high-performance Al 2 O 3 -based cutting ceramics with optimized microstructural designs.

Developing sensing interfaces that simultaneously integrate catalytic activity, efficient charge transfer, and structural stability remains a major challenge for high-performance non-enzymatic glucose sensing. Herein, a CuS/Ti₃C₂/rGO ternary composite was fabricated through a combination of liquid-phase precipitation and self-assembly. Structural, surface, and electrochemical studies revealed that the enhanced sensing performance originated from the synergistic integration of catalytic CuS, conductive Ti₃C₂, and rGO-assisted structural protection. Under optimized conditions, the sensor exhibited a fast response time of 3.7 s, a wide linear range of 0.01–10.35 mM, and a low detection limit of 3.33 µM (S/ N = 3). In addition, satisfactory selectivity, stability, repeatability, and reproducibility were achieved. Recoveries of 98.1–105.0% were obtained in commercial oral liquids and fruit juice samples, demonstrating good analytical reliability in complex matrices. These findings indicate that the proposed catalysis-conduction-protection strategy provides an effective design principle for constructing high-performance non-enzymatic glucose sensing interfaces.

High-performance Al₂O₃-Ti(C,N) composites are critical for extreme-environment applications, yet conventional static sintering cannot simultaneously achieve full densification and strong grain-boundary bonding. Here, a dynamic sinter forging (DSF) strategy coupling sintering densification and oscillatory forging deformation was developed to activate plastic flow and defect engineering. Composites were sintered at 1600 °C with oscillatory amplitudes of 0–40 MPa (5 Hz) and a maximum pressure of 80 MPa. The flexural strength increased from 583 MPa under a pressure of 80 ± 0 MPa to 1070 MPa under 40 ± 40 MPa, representing an 83 % enhancement. TEM revealed increased dislocation densities in Al₂O₃ (2.6 ×10⁵→2.9 ×10⁶ cm⁻²) and Ti(C,N) (4.8 ×10⁶→8.2 ×10⁶ cm⁻²) and curved interfaces, shifting fracture from intergranular to transgranular, showing that defect generation and interface curvature jointly strengthen the composites. This DSF route enables concurrent densification and microstructural strengthening within a single thermal cycle, offering a general pathway to high-toughness oxide–carbonitride ceramics.

To address the challenges of achieving densification at lower sintering temperatures and precise control over the microstructure in UHTCs-SiC, a novel reactive hot-pressing sintering technology was proposed to realize the low-temperature densification of fine and uniform (Zr,Ti)B 2 -(Zr,Ti)C-SiC ceramics, as well as the accurate tailoring of phase compositions. The intrinsic relationship between phase compositions, microstructural tailoring and mechanical performance was revealed. As the molar ratio of (Zr,Ti)C/(Zr,Ti)B 2 decreases, rod-shaped microstructural units (ultra-high temperature borides) progressively develop within the ceramic. These elongated features play a beneficial role in deflecting propagating cracks. When coupled with equiaxed (Zr,Ti)C grains, this combination allows the synergistic strengthening and toughening mechanisms to be fully activated, so the (Zr,Ti)B 2 -(Zr,Ti)C-SiC ceramics with a (Zr,Ti)C/(Zr,Ti)B 2 molar ratio of 1:2 exhibit a flexural strength of 479.2 MPa and a fracture toughness of 3.84 MPa·m 1/2 , which are 62.2 % and 40.7 % higher than those of (Zr,Ti)C-SiC ceramics, respectively.

The development of high-performance anode materials is critical for advancing sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) toward practical applications. Herein, we report a novel FeSe 2 @S-Ti 2 C heterostructure synthesized via a safe and straightforward Lewis acidic molten salt etching strategy followed by in-situ selenization. This approach enables simultaneous etching of Ti 2 AlC MAX phase, surface termination with sulfur-containing groups, and uniform anchoring of FeSe 2 nanoparticles within the Ti 2 C MXene matrix, eliminating the need for hazardous HF or post-synthesis metal removal. The resulting heterostructure integrates multiple advantageous features: The highly conductive Ti₂C MXene framework accelerates the transport of Na + , while its structural robustness effectively accommodates the volume expansion caused by Na + deintercalation. S-containing surface terminations provide additional active sites that enhance Na + adsorption. Ultimately, the FeSe₂@S-Ti₂C anode demonstrates exceptional sodium-storage performance, characterized by a high reversible capacity of 397.6 mAh g −1 after 350 cycles at 1 A g −1 , superior rate capability (227.8 mAh g −1 at 5 A g −1 ), as well as robust full-cell performance with an initial Coulombic efficiency of 91.2% and a reversible capacity of 493.6 mAh g −1 following 500 cycles at 1 A g −1 . Density functional theory calculations further elucidate the underlying mechanism, revealing metallic conductivity, reduced Na + diffusion barrier (0.30 eV), and enhanced Na adsorption energy (−2.43 eV) in the heterostructure. This work presents a versatile and scalable strategy for constructing advanced MXene-based heterostructures, offering promising avenues for high-performance SIB anodes.
