A novel electrochemiluminescence (ECL) sensor for detection of brilliant blue FCF (BB) has been developed using Ru@ Zn-MOF/nafion modified GCE (glass carbon electrode) in this research. Different from conventional method for usage of Ru(bpy) 3 2+ in solution-phase, Ru(bpy) 3 2+ here was immobilized on a zinc-metal-organic-framework (Zn-MOF). After adding BB, a significant quenching phenomenon of ECL intensity was observed. The behavior of BB on the quenching effect of Ru(bpy) 3 2+ /Zn-MOF in different conditions was investigated thoroughly and the detection limit was achieved to 2.5 × 10 −8 M in an optimized condition. Furthermore, the interference of some conventional ions and amino acids to the detection of BB was also investigated. Additionally, the composite showed a good effect on the detection of BB in commercial samples. The proposed sensor provided a promising platform for food safety analysis, environmental monitoring and clinical testing.

Efficient recovery of precious metals from secondary resources is of great economic and environmental significance in modern society. Herein, an efficient adsorbent ZIF-8-MTD was designed using 1,3,4-thiadiazole (MTD)-modified zinc-based metal-organic framework (MOF) for efficient recovery of gold (Au)(III) from wastewater. It was found that the ZIF-8-MTD adsorbent has excellent adsorption performance for Au(III), with a maximum adsorption capacity of 1604.53 mg·g −1 at room temperature (15 °C), which is superior to the traditional adsorbent. Particularly, the ZIF-8-MTD adsorbent still maintained a high saturation adsorption capacity of 1088.8 mg·g − 1 at a low Au(III) concentration (10 ppm). The fitting results of adsorption isotherm and kinetic adsorption model indicated that the adsorption process was consistent with Langmuir and pseudo-second-order adsorption models, implying that chemisorption was involved in the adsorption process. Moreover, the results of adsorption selectivity , desorption and adsorption experiments confirmed good adsorption selectivity and recyclability. Combining pH effect experiments, infrared spectroscopy (IR), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) characterizations, we proposed an electrostatic adsorption mechanism in which the coordination interactions between the -SH functional groups in the framework and Au(III) lead them to be adsorbed to the ZIF − 8-MTD surface and partially reduce it to Au(I). More importantly, the outstanding adsorption performance, high selectivity and strong stability make it have great potential for practical application.

A novel composite is constructed by loading ZIF-8 on Cu 2 O by in situ growth. By visible light driven semiconductor and π-π* conjugation effect of the metal–organic framework, the migration ability of photogenerated carriers is improved, and electrons are accumulated to participate in hydrogen ion reduction. The superior hydrogen evolution performance (981.8 μmol·g −1 ·h −1 ) and stability test indicate that the coupling of ZIF-8 and semiconductor Cu 2 O successfully improves the catalytic capacity of the material. Cu 2 O provides a place to stimulate activity for ZIF-8 with high specific surface area. The electron transfer mechanism in composites is studied by electrochemical and spectroscopy methods. This work also provides a new opportunity for the in-situ growth of metal–organic frame materials onto single-metal oxides.

Accurate and sensitive detection of pesticide residues is crucial for environmental safety and human health. Herein, a self-powered metal–organic framework nanozyme-based immunoassay was developed for selective and sensitive detection of isoprocarb by encapsulating calcium peroxide and heme into a Zn-MOF to construct the CaO2/heme@Zn-MOF composite. The prepared nanozyme exhibits intrinsic peroxidase-like activity and enables in situ H2O2 generation under acidic conditions, effectively eliminating the need for external oxidants. By coupling antibody–antigen specific recognition with catalytic signal amplification of CaO2/heme@Zn-MOF, a competitive nanozyme-linked immunosorbent assay was established for selective detection of isoprocarb. The fluorescence signal originating from o-phenylenediamine oxidation gradually decreases with an increase in isoprocarb concentration, allowing quantitative analysis with a detection limit of 0.017 μM. The entire competitive immunoassay can be completed within an optimal detection time of 90 min. Furthermore, the proposed method demonstrates excellent practical reliability and anti-interference capability in real water and agricultural products, achieving quantitative recovery rates ranging from 92.85% to 107.14% with relative standard deviations of less than 5.91%. Furthermore, a portable immunomagnetic bead with paper devices was fabricated for on-site analysis. This work provides a general strategy for integrating self-powered nanozymes with immunoassays, thereby expanding their potential for portable environmental monitoring.

Donut-like Cu-Zn-MOF@CuNPs were synthesized via facile two-step approaches. • Cl − amplifies Cu signal via formation of highly electroactive CuCl. • Ag + inhibits the signal by competitive binding with Cl − to form AgCl. • The sensor detects Ag + with a low LOD of 1.4 nM and wide linear range. • It shows good selectivity, stability, and real water sample recovery. Silver ions (Ag + ) are highly toxic heavy metal pollutants. Conventional electrochemical methods for Ag + detection typically involve complex ionophore preparation, long preconcentration/stripping steps, or costly biorecognition agent. Here, we report a Cu-Zn-MOF supported CuNPs composite (Cu-Zn-MOF/CuNPs) for Ag + detection. The composite is prepared via a two-step room temperature mixing process. The nest-like Cu-Zn-MOF, composed of stacked two-dimensional nanosheets, provides a high specific surface area and accessible active sites for CuNPs deposition, which improves conductivity and generates a detectable redox signal. The presence of Cl − enhances the Cu redox signal due to the formation of electroactive CuCl. In the presence of Ag + , this signal enhancement is suppressed due to the competitive binding that forms AgCl precipitates. Leveraging this “amplification-inhibition” response, the Cu-Zn-MOF/CuNPs modified electrode allows for Ag + detection with two linear ranges (5 nM–100 nM and 100 nM–1100 nM), a detection limit of 1.4 nM, and recoveries ranging from 96.5% to 104.5% in spiked real water samples. The preparation procedure and detection protocol are relatively straightforward, and the sensing mechanism offers an alternative pathway for heavy metal ion detection. A donut-like Cu-Zn-MOF/CuNPs composite enables sensitive and selective electrochemical detection of Ag + via a novel amplification-inhibition mechanism: Cl − enhances the Cu redox signal through CuCl formation, while Ag + competitively binds Cl − to suppress the signal. The sensor achieves a low detection limit of 1.4 nM and good performance in real water samples. Download: Download high-res image (121KB) Download: Download full-size image

In this work, we develop a new type of Zn-based electrode material, i.e., mulberry-shaped nanostructured zinc metal–organic frame/zinc sulfide (Zn-MOF/ZnS) heterojunction, which was synthesized via a green and convenient one-pot solvothermal method with common zinc salts as the metal precursor, 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid (H 3 BTC) as the organic ligand, and thioacetamide (TAA) as sulfur source. The porous structure of zinc metal–organic frame (Zn-MOF) can effectively adsorb and enrich naphthol molecules, accelerating material transport. Meanwhile, the integration of Zn-MOF with zinc sulfide (ZnS) to form the heterojunction interface can promote rapid electron transfer and improve the efficiency of electrocatalytic reactions. When used for electrochemical detection of naphthol isomers in water, the sensing performance of the resultant Zn-MOF/ZnS electrode is significantly improved in comparison with monolithic Zn-MOF and ZnS electrodes. The sensor achieves a detection linear range of 0.4–70 µM, with low detection limits of 30 nM for 1-naphthol (1-NAP) and 10 nM for 2-naphthol (2-NAP), respectively. In addition, the sensor has acceptable anti-interference ability, repeatability, and long-term stability, which can be used for the actual sensing of naphthol isomers in environmental water. This study provides new ideas and references for the development of high-performance electrode material for on-site monitoring of pollutants in water quality. Graphical

Trans-resveratrol (TRA) has garnered significant attention due to its multiple pharmacological activities. This study fabricated a Zn-MOF/MWNTs-OH/GCE electrochemical detection platform for TRA detection by modifying a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) with a composite of hydroxyl-functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs-OH) and zinc-based metal-organic framework (Zn-MOF). The structure and composition of the materials were characterized using scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The results indicate that the Zn-MOF/MWNTs-OH/GCE has an excellent electrochemical response to TRA, featuring a linear detection range of 1.00- 600.00 μM and a detection limit of 0.32 μM. Additionally, the detection platform exhibits good reproducibility, stability, and selectivity. In the grape skin sample detection, the recovery rate ranges from 98.48% to 105.19%, the RSD is less than 4.62%, and the accuracy of the results is verified by fluorometry.

Considering the potential risks of ferulic acid (FA), this study developed a novel fluorescent probe based on Zn-MOF for the efficient detection of FA in food. The Zn-MOF was successfully synthesized by solvothermal method, and its structure and stability were confirmed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). It exhibited strong fluorescence at 420 nm under 348 nm excitation, and maintained 92.3 % of its fluorescence intensity after 7 days of ethanol immersion and 95.6 % at pH 3–12, demonstrating excellent chemical stability. The Zn-MOF could be used to detect FA and showed high sensitivity with the detection limit of 91.8 nM. The competitive experiments indicated that 17 common interferents had no significant effect on the detection (the fluorescence response change <5 %). The fluorescence of the sensing platform remained at 98.5 % after 5 cycles of use. Mechanism studies revealed that the fluorescence quenching was caused by the synergistic effect of photoinduced electron transfer, inner filter effect and competitive absorption. In the actual detection of corn wine samples, the method had a recovery rate of 100.7–104.1 % and a relative standard deviation (RSD) of less than 2.31 %, verifying its reliability in complex matrices. Furthermore, a fluorescent sensing composite material for FA was successfully developed by physically blending Zn-MOF with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA).

ABSTRACT The highly desired goal is to employ visible light for the photocatalytic reduction of toxic Cr(VI) to environmentally friendly Cr(III). Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are considered one of the most promising materials for the photoreduction of Cr(VI). Nevertheless, developing MOFs with high stability and activity is still challenging. Herein, we report a stable Zn-based MOF (named DZU-64 ) with an anthracene functionalized ligand, and its reduction of Cr(VI) under sunlight irradiation was investigated. DZU-64 exhibits excellent chemical stability in pH range of 2−14 aqueous solution, and remarkable thermal stability to 570°C. For the photoreduction of Cr(VI) under visible light irradiation, DZU-64 gives a record rate constant of 0.467 min −1 and a high Cr(VI) reduction rate of 6.68 mg Cr (VI) g −1 cata min −1 at pH 2. Moreover, under real solar light, DZU-64 can also efficiently reduce Cr(VI) to Cr(III) while retaining its catalytic activity throughout 5 cycles without any notable decline, further demonstrating its great application prospect. By combining the photovoltaic performance tests and electron spin resonance test, the possible photoreduction of Cr(VI) mechanism in DZU-64 was analyzed.

In this report, a novel hollow boxes shape ZnSnO 3 is synthesized via a one-pot surfactant-free method. We synthesize CNT@ZnSnO 3 hollow boxes via hydrothermal reaction by using the Zn-MOF(ZIF-8) as the Zn source at the first time. Several characterization techniques are used to investigate the structure, morphology, composition and specific surface area of CNT@ZnSnO 3 . CNT@ZnSnO 3 hollow boxes demonstrated large specific surface area (up to 45.73 m 2 /g), which is favorable for the strong gas sensor response. The ethanol sensor based on CNT@ZnSnO 3 hollow boxes exhibited high response of ethanol up to 166 at 240 °C at the concentration of 100 ppm, which is about 8 times higher than the sensing response of ZnSnO 3 nanocubes. Moreover, CNT@ZnSnO 3 hollow boxes based ethanol sensor also shows the excellent selectivity and stability. As a novel green gas sensor, CNT@ZnSnO 3 hollow boxes show the great potential in the gas sensing field.

Norfloxacin (NX), as one of the most widely used antibiotics, is becoming a potential pollutant in water. Here, the cobalt-decorated nitrogen-rich carbon material containing abundant carbon nanotubes (Co@C-NCNTs) was synthesized by pyrolysis of the Co,Zn bimetal organic frameworks (Co,Zn-MOF). The introduction of Zn led to the formation of abundant CNTs with high aspect ratio and high N-doping in the carbon metrix. The obtained Co@C-NCNTs catalyst was applied to boost non-radical catalysis of peroxymonosulfate for NX degradation with high efficiency. The release of cobalt was greatly inhibited by Co-N interaction and carbon layer protection. The CNTs amount in Co@C-NCNTs and its catalytic activity were tunable with the Zn/Co ratio. At the optimal Zn/Co ratio, the derived Co@C-NCNTs delivered 92% removal of NX in 30 min, significantly higher than the single Co-MOF based catalyst. Free radical quenching experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance demonstrated the singlet 1 O 2 -dominated degradation process of NX accompanied by the •OH and S O 4 − effect. The electrochemical characterization verified that the electron transfer in the PMS system is greatly enhanced due to the presence of Co@C-NCNTs.

Metal-organic framework (MOF) fluorescent materials have significant advantages in detecting organic pollutants and metal ion pollution. A zinc metal organic framework nanofiber fluorescent membrane (Zn(Eu)-MOF@PAN NFM) was prepared by doping the lanthanide metal Eu using an electrospinning and impregnation process. The structure and morphology of the membrane was characterized by SEM, XRD, FT-IR and XPS. The results show that the membrane has good fluorescence performance and can successfully and efficiently detect nitrobenzene (NB; detection limit = 0.861 ppm, K sv = 0.143 ppm −1 ), 4-nitrophenol (4-NP; detection limit = 0.631 ppm, K sv = 0.178 ppm −1 ), benzaldehyde (BA; detection limit = 0.981 ppm, K sv = 0.051 ppm −1 ) and Fe 3+ ions (detection limit = 3.418 ppm, K sv = 3.210×10 −3 ppm −1 ) in solution. In terms of repeatability and stability, the test results are obviously better than the property of the powder.
