In the complex human body fluids, neurotransmitters such as dopamine (DA) play a significant role in regulating physiological functions, thereby impacting the normal functioning of biological activities. Hence, employing a rapid and non-destructive analytical technique for precise measurement of these molecules is crucial. Here, a novel piezoelectric-enhanced ZnO/Ag microcavity SERS substrate was designed, enabling ultra-sensitive and instantaneous detection of DA molecules. This substrate achieves exceptional trace detection performance, with a detection limit for Rhodamine 6 G (R6G) molecules as low as 5×10 −13 M and a EF of 1.05×10 11 , DA can be accurately identified even at exceedingly low concentrations, demonstrating outstanding capabilities in trace detection. This innovative structure not only represents a breakthrough in the rapid trace detection of neurotransmitters but also introduces new avenues for research and diagnostics in fields such as precision medicine, neuroscience , and pharmaceutical development.

The detection of pefloxacin (PEF) in milk is of significant importance for food safety. Traditional methods for detecting PEF often rely on techniques such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), which are complex and time-consuming. This article introduces a surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate based on a composite of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) for the rapid detection of PEF in milk. After testing PEF in both water and milk, the detection limits were calculated to be 6.31 μg/L for water and 82 μg/L for milk, with correlation coefficients of 0.991 and 0.998, respectively. Furthermore, the average recovery rate of PEF in milk ranged from 96.25% to 106.17%, with a relative standard deviation (RSD) of 4.32% to 8.88%. This work offers a simple and rapid method for detecting PEF in milk. Graphical

In industry, silver-based catalysts are the mainstream choice for converting ethylene to ethylene oxide (EO), and the morphology of Ag particles plays an important role in their catalytic performance; however, related studies are scarce. In this work, evidence from SEM shown that we successfully synthesized three different morphologies of Ag particles induced by different solvent, i.e., flower-like Ag (Fl-Ag), spheroidal Ag (Sp-Ag) and sheet-like Ag (Sh-Ag), dissolve them respectively into the mixed solution of silver nitrate/oxalic acid to form a suspension, then load onto α-Al 2 O 3 . Through were calculated from the XRD peak area the Ag(100) surface occupancy has the order of Fl-Ag (30 %) > Sh-Ag (20 %) > Sp-Ag (15 %), and the selectivity of EO has positive relation with similar order of Fl-Ag/Al 2 O 3 (85 %) > Sh-Ag/ Al 2 O 3 (72 %) > Sp-Ag/Al 2 O 3 (70 %). The selectivity of Fl-Ag/Al 2 O 3 for EO at 210 °C was 85 %. It is shown that Ag(100) surface has better O 2 interaction and activated than that of Ag(111) surface, and (100) has a lower activation energy than the side reaction (0.9 eV vs 1.0 eV), facilitates the conversion of ethylene to ethylene oxide. This study provides a new method to design and optimize silver catalysts.

Non–enzymatic glucose sensors have gained significant attention as promising alternatives to address the limitations associated with enzyme–based sensors. Numerous non–enzymatic glucose sensors have demonstrated effective, non–invasive blood glucose monitoring through the analysis of human body fluids such as urine, saliva, and sweat. In this study, Cu 2 O/Ag nanowires (NWs) nanocomposites were in situ fabricated as electrode materials for non–enzymatic glucose sensors. To enhance the electrocatalytic performance, Cu 2 O/Ag NWs nanocomposites with a distinctive pepero–shaped morphology were synthesized using varied copper precursor ratios, facilitating a systematic investigation of Cu 2 O content on glucose detection. The results reveal that the CA–2 electrode material exhibits outstanding electrocatalytic performance for glucose detection, with sensitivity ranges of 10–100 nM and 1 μM–1 mM, achieving sensitivities of 22,099 and 1474 μA mM −1 cm −2 , respectively, and a detection limit of 3.29 nM. Additionally, this material has shown high efficiency in detecting glucose in urine, highlighting its excellent detection capabilities.

In this study, we successfully prepared silver electrodes through a silver mirror reaction. By carefully regulating the amount of ammonia complexing agent in the silver–ammonia solution, we effectively suppressed the decomposition of the plating solution while reducing the surface roughness of silver films from 9.22 nm to 4.42 nm. The electrical conductivity of our solution-processed silver layers was nearly one order of magnitude higher than that of conventional inkjet-printed silver electrodes. When applied as source-drain electrodes in organic field-effect transistors (OFETs), these electrodes enabled devices with an average mobility of 0.13 cm 2 /(V·s) and remarkably low mobility variation of only 8.7%. Furthermore, we modified the silver electrodes through chemical platinum plating, achieving a significant 0.74 eV alteration in work function, which demonstrates the great potential of chemical plating for surface functionalization in solution-processed organic electronic devices.

Ammonia (NH 3 ) is one of the most detrimental environmental pollutants emanating from various industrial processes. Therefore, the preparation of ammonia sensors with excellent performance holds the utmost significance, ensuring environmental quality and human health. In this study, through the self-redox reaction between Ti 3 C 2 T x and Ag + , Ag nanoparticles (NPs) loaded Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene (Ag@MXene) were directly prepared. The as-synthesized materials were conducted a comprehensive investigation into their gas-sensing properties and were characterized utilizing analytical techniques such as XRD (X-ray Diffraction), XPS (X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy), SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope), and EDS (Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy). According to the experimental findings, the Ag@MXene sensor responds to NH 3 remarkably well at room temperature, about 7 times more effectively than pure MXene performs under the same condition. Density functional theory (DFT) investigations were additionally carried out to further clarify the gas-sensing mechanisms. The technique for creating high-precision and room-temperature gas sensors is described in this paper as a workable strategy.

Repairing and regenerating articular cartilage remains a significant challenge, primarily due to its limited self-healing capability. Hydrogel has emerged as a promising candidate due to its resemblance to extracellular matrices. A porous hydrogel of an appropriate size can facilitate cell growth and integrate into the host tissue. However, the presence of pores in hydrogels will significantly reduce mechanical properties, posing challenges in replacing the load-bearing function of articular cartilage. Here, a porous hydrogel was prepared through a gas forming method based on a triple-network hydrogel system of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)-polyacrylamide (PAM)-agarose (AG), with a pore size of 100–200 μm. The hydrogel exhibits a compressive modulus of up to 0.79 MPa and a tensile modulus of up to 0.35 MPa, falling within the reference range of articular cartilage. Furthermore, the porous hydrogel exhibits good creep resistance properties. These results suggest that the porous hydrogels with strong mechanical properties hold promise as a replacement material for articular cartilage.

Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs) are recognized for their excellent antibacterial properties and low toxicity, making them ideal for biomedical applications. Combining AgNPs with electrospun polyethersulfone (PES) has significant potential owing to the structural advantages of electrospun fibers and the antimicrobial efficiency of AgNPs. The biological activity of metal nanoparticles is often closely related to their size, with smaller particles generally exhibiting higher efficacy. However, existing synthesis methods tend to produce larger AgNPs, which limits their potential. In this study, electrospun PES was used as a support matrix to prepare an Ag nanoparticle (NP)-PES electrospun composite in which the majority of AgNPs measured under 60 mm in diameter. Bacteriostatic experiments revealed that this AgNP-PES electrospun composite possessed effective antibacterial activity against both Escherichia coli (gram-negative bacteria) and Staphylococcus aureus (gram-positive bacteria). The enhanced antibacterial activity was attributed to the small size of the AgNPs. Moreover, cytotoxicity tests confirmed that the electrospun composite was non-toxic to cells. Animal experiments showed that the AgNP-PES electrospun composite significantly promoted wound healing, particularly in burn wounds infected with S. aureus . More importantly, the preparation process was environmentally friendly, relying solely on sunlight as the energy source. Thus, the AgNP-PES electrospun composite shows significant potential for medical applications.

The use of InGaN/GaN blue light chips to excite surface-coated yellow phosphors is one of the common strategies for the preparation of WLEDs. In this study, a series (Y,Gd) 3 Al 5 O 12 ((Y,Gd)AG) phosphors doped with different concentrations of Ce 3+ were prepared using the co-precipitation method. The yellow light emission intensity of the phosphor reaches its maximum at a Ce 3+ concentration of 5 %. This observation is consistent with theoretically quenching concentration (4.7 %) calculated by the Stern - Volmer formula and the optimal quantum yield (69.18 %). Further research indicates that the emission efficiency of the sample remains almost same after 7 days and maintained room temperature efficiency of 67 % at 400 K, with a color temperature value of 2662 K and a CRI value superior to that of YAG:Ce. The results TR-PL tests showed that when the concentration of Ce 3+ doping was gradually increased up 5 %, the distance between the emission centers becomes shorter, which leads to a decrease in the emission lifetime and thereby improves the luminous efficiency. When the concentration exceeds 5 %, concentration quenching leads to an increase in non-radiative processes, and this quenching mechanism is identified as energy transfer between Ce 3+ - Ce 3+ ions. This result provides ideas for obtaining highly efficient yellow phosphors, and also provides a realization path for improving the performance of CCTs and CRIs in WLEDs.

N2O/CO2 separation in the tail gas of adipic acid presents a significant challenge due to the closely resembling physical characteristics exhibited by CO2 and N2O. Herein, adsorption and separation performances of CO2 and N2O on FAU-type zeolite Y with different cations (Na+ and Ag+) were studied comprehensively. After Ag+ exchange, zeolite Y changes from a CO2-selective adsorbent to a N2O-selective adsorbent. AgY shows high N2O uptake (95.7 cm3/g) but relatively low adsorption heat (23.1 kJ/mol), making it suitable for N2O/CO2 separation. In situ Fourier transform infrared spectrometry indicates that N2O is successfully adsorbed on AgY. The breakthrough experiment reveals that AgY exhibits superior performance in the separation of N2O/CO2 at a flow rate of 20 mL/min while also exhibiting a favorable retention time and ratio of retention time with CO2 breakthrough time, which can reach up to 4.1 min and 0.24, respectively, which makes it an optimum N2O/CO2 separation material reported so far.

In this paper, Au-Ag alloy nanostar (Au-Ag NSt) substrates were prepared by liquid–liquid three-phase self-assembly method, and the influence of preparation conditions on their Raman activity of the substrate was explored. By adjusting the gold-silver ratios of alloy seeds and the concentration of AgNO 3 in the growth solution, it was found that the LSPR peak can be adjusted. Under the conditions of Au 1 -Ag 3 nanoparticles as seeds and 200 μL AgNO 3 solution (2 mM) as epitaxial growth solution, the prepared Au 1 -Ag 3 NSt substrate exhibits excellent SERS activity. The substrate can detect R6G and CV probe molecules with detection limits as low as 10 −11 M and 10 −10 M, respectively. Experiments have confirmed that the substrate has the characteristics of high sensitivity, good uniformity and strong stability. In addition, the substrate can detect APM molecules far below the safety standard, which further proves that the structure has excellent practical application potential as a SERS substrate.

Localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR), light scattering, and lowering the series resistance of noble metal nanoparticles (NPs) provide positive effect on the performance of photovoltaic device. However, the exciton recombination on the noble metal NPs accompanying above influences will deteriorate the performance of device. In this report, surface-modified Ag@oxide (TiO 2 or SiO 2 ) nanoprisms with 1–2 nm shell thickness are developed. The thin film composed of P3HT/Ag@oxides and P3HT:PCBM/Ag@oxides is investigated by absorption, photoluminescence (PL), and transient absorption spectroscopy. The results show a significant absorption, PL enhancement, and long-lived photogenerated polaron in the P3HT/Ag@TiO 2 film, indicating the increase of photogenerated exciton population by LSPR of Ag nanoprisms. In the case of P3HT/Ag nanoprisms, partial PL quench and relatively short-lived photogenerated polaron are observed. That indicates that the oxides layer can effectively avoid the exciton recombination. When the Ag@oxide nanoprisms are introduced into the active layer of P3HT:PCBM photovoltaic devices, about 31% of power conversion efficiency enhancement is obtained relative to the reference cell. All these results indicate that Ag@oxides can enhance the performance of the cell, at the same time the ultrathin oxide shell prevents from the exciton recombination.
