The development of ORR catalysts that combine high activity with low cost is essential for advancing the practical implementation of related technologies. In this work, an ORR catalyst Co 2 Pc 2 (EP) 4 /RGO was successfully synthesized via a facile π-π self-assembly approach, where spherical binuclear metallophthalocyanine (Co 2 Pc 2 (EP) 4 ) was loaded onto the surface of reduced graphene oxide (RGO). The structural and morphological characteristics of Co 2 Pc 2 (EP) 4 /RGO were systematically investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Electrochemical performance tests showed that the onset potential ( E 0 ) of Co 2 Pc 2 (EP) 4 /RGO was comparable to that of commercial Pt/C, while the half-wave potential (E 1/2 ) of Co 2 Pc 2 (EP) 4 /RGO exhibited a positive shift of 130 mV compared to that of pure Co 2 Pc 2 (EP) 4 . The electrocatalytic activity of Co 2 Pc 2 (EP) 4 / RGO dramatically enhanced because of π-π interactions between Co 2 Pc 2 (EP) 4 and RGO, which promoted the oxygen molecules concentration around the active sites. The high oxygen molecules concentration is conducive to form an intermediate O 2 ads - Co 2 Pc 2 (EP) 4 @RGO to decrease the activation energy of the *OOH dissociation step in a four-electron ORR process and the oxygen molecules could be reduced more easily. This study offers a new direction for the design of oxygen reduction reaction catalysts.

In-situ growth of Ti-MOF@rGO improves dispersion, reduces agglomeration, and facilitates electron transport. • 0.3–400 μM linear range, 0.114 μM LOD (S/N=3), selective vs UA/AA, stable/reproducible. • Synergistic Ti-MOF@rGO boosts DA adsorption and electron transfer via 2e - /2H + redox. Electrochemical detection of dopamine (DA) is critically important for the diagnosis and monitoring of neurological disorders. In this study, we present a novel composite material, Ti-MOF@rGO, synthesized in-situ through the integration of titanium-based metal-organic frameworks (Ti-MOFs) with reduced graphene oxide (rGO). This hybrid material effectively combines the abundant redox-active sites of Ti-MOF with the excellent electrical conductivity and large specific surface area of rGO, thereby facilitating efficient charge transfer and enhanced DA adsorption. The Ti-MOF@10%rGO-modified glassy carbon electrode demonstrated outstanding electrocatalytic performance for DA oxidation, exhibiting a wide linear detection range of 0.3–400 μM and a low detection limit of 0.114 μM (S/N = 3). The sensor exhibited high selectivity against common interferents such as uric acid and ascorbic acid, along with excellent repeatability, reproducibility, and cycling stability. This work presents a promising strategy for the rational design of MOF-based composites and offers a robust platform for ultrasensitive and selective electrochemical biosensing applications.

A drop-coating and VC-immersion reduction method for preparing ultrathin rGO coating on Al foil. • rGO-coated Al foil current collectors enhance the electrochemical performance of LIBs. • Thickness–defect synergy influences the performance enhancement of rGO coating on CCs. Carbon-coated aluminum has emerged as a promising current collector (CC) for lithium batteries, offering significant advantages such as mitigating aluminum foil corrosion, reducing interfacial electron transfer resistance, and enhancing long-term cycling stability and rate performance. In this work, an ultrathin reduced graphene oxide (rGO) coating was fabricated on aluminum foil through a facile binder-free drop-coating and Vitamin C-immersion reduction method. By tuning the GO loading amount, a series of rGO-coated CCs with different coating thicknesses was obtained and evaluated in LiMn 2 O 4 (LMO) batteries under 4.5 V. The results show that electrochemical performance is not determined by coating thickness alone, but by the synergistic effects of coating thickness and defect density. Among samples, the CCs with rGO coating of less than 5 nm thickness exhibit the best rate performance and durability, retaining 85.2% capacity after 500 cycles at 1C (148 mAh·g −1 ), far surpassing pure Al CCs (73.2%). Post-cycling analyses indicate that the ultrathin rGO coating effectively stabilizes the interfacial environment and mitigates corrosion-related surface degradation during cycling. These findings not only advance our understanding of the role of carbon coatings in mitigating degradation mechanisms but also pave the way for the development of more efficient and durable energy storage systems. TT-COF/RGO three-dimensional porous structure improves electronic conductivity and stability. • Electrochemical signals are amplified through the electrodeposition of silver nanoparticles. • MIPs achieve highly selective and specific capture of BPA. • A linear range of 0.25–500 nM and a detection limit 0.09 nM. Herein, we developed an electrochemical sensor based on molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) for the sensitive detection of bisphenol A (BPA) in food samples. The sensing platform was constructed based on ternary AgNPs/TT-COF/RGO hybrid architecture. Subsequently, a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) film was electrodeposited onto the modified electrode using o -phenylenediamine ( o -PD) as the functional monomer and BPA as the template molecule. By integrating the high surface area of RGO, the readily accessible binding sites of TT-COF, and the efficient electron-transfer capability of AgNPs, the ternary AgNPs/TT-COF/RGO hybrid architecture achieves highly sensitive BPA detection. Under optimized conditions, the sensor exhibited a wide linear range of 0.25–500 nM and a low detection limit of 0.09 nM. With its excellent selectivity and sensitivity, the proposed sensor serves as a reliable platform for accurate BPA detection in complex food matrices. We propose an electrochemical sensor based on a MIP/AgNPs/TT-COF/RGO composite for highly selective detection of BPA in complex food samples. The sensor features a tightly integrated composite of RGO and TT-COF, which possesses ordered channels and an electron-rich surface, forming a three-dimensional porous conductive framework that significantly enhances electron transfer efficiency. AgNPs are then electrodeposited onto this framework, leveraging their localized surface plasmon resonance effect and catalytic activity to further amplify the electrochemical response signal at the interface. Finally, the incorporation of MIP enables specific recognition of BPA. Following systematic optimization, the sensor exhibits a broad linear range (0.25–500 nM) and low detection limit (0.09 nM), along with excellent selectivity, reproducibility, and stability. Three-dimensional (3D) electrochemical systems effectively improve electron transfer rates by increasing electrode surface area and active site density using particle microelectrodes. To investigate the potential utility of a transition metal–carbon particle electrode, a 3D electrochemical activation system for peroxydisulfate (PDS) using a silver nanoparticle (AgNP)–incorporated reduced graphene oxide (rGO) hydrogel particle electrode (3D-PDS/AgNP/rGO) was constructed for achieving enhanced acid orange 74 (AO 74) degradation. The AgNP/rGO hydrogel was prepared via a low-temperature hydrothermal reduction method in which AgNPs were uniformly dispersed within the porous rGO matrix. Optimization of the 3D-PDS/AgNP/rGO process parameters demonstrated that AO 74 degradation efficiency was strongly dependent on AgNP/rGO concentration, PDS concentration, applied current, and solution pH. The degradation efficiency reached 96.31% within 3 h, and the degradation rate constant exhibited a 2.35-fold higher than that of a 2D-PDS system that lacked a particle electrode. Water matrix analysis revealed that Cl − enhanced AO 74 degradation, whereas CO 3 2− and PO 4 3− inhibited it. The use of radical scavengers identified hydroxyl radicals and sulfate radicals as the generated dominant reactive species. 3D-PDS/AgNP/rGO exhibited remarkable stability, maintaining 84.44% degradation efficiency after five cycles and outperforming the conventional 2D-PDS system. This study demonstrated that 3D-PDS/AgNP/rGO met the technical requirements for efficient degradation of organic pollutants and exhibited application potential in azo dye wastewater treatment.

Compared with α-, β- and γ-MnO2, δ-MnO2 possesses a large interlayer spacing, abundant active sites and high compatibility with aqueous electrolytes. Due to these advantages, δ-MnO2 is considered a potential candidate for efficient aqueous zinc-ion battery and high-safety energy storage systems. Nevertheless, its structural instability and suboptimal electrical conductivity hinder it from being an ideal electrode material. In this study, a 3D conductive framework was fabricated by uniformly integrating δ-MnO2 and ultrathin rGO nanosheets through a simple freeze-drying process. The introduction of rGO endows the δ-MnO2/rGO composites with a unique “conductive network–dispersion support” structure. The as-constructed 3D architecture effectively overcomes the intrinsically low conductivity of δ-MnO2 and decreases the charge transfer resistance. Meanwhile, the porous framework enlarges the electrode–electrolyte contact area, accommodates the volume variation and lattice distortion during Zn2+ insertion/extraction, and thus maintains structural integrity upon long-term cycling. Consequently, the δ-MnO2/rGO electrode exhibits excellent cycling stability, with a maximum specific discharge capacity of 127.6 mAh g−1 at 1 A g−1, which remains at 82.1 mAh g−1 after 600 cycles. The specific capacity is obviously better than that of δ-MnO2 (63.2 mAh g−1 after 450 cycles).

The improvement in energy storage performance of graphene/polymer composites has long been restricted by insufficient breakdown strength (Eb) and high dielectric loss, both of which result from conductive losses caused by the aggregation of graphene nanosheets. In this paper, aminopropylisobutyl polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS-NH2) encapsulated graphene oxide (GO) (GO-g-POSS) hybrids were prepared to inhibit the restacking of graphene and block the formation of conductive paths. Furthermore, the design of sandwich-structured films is also an efficient approach to improving the breakdown performance of composite materials. Novel sandwich-structured composite films containing outer layers of BNNS/PVDF films and a middle rGO-g-POSS/PVDF layer were successfully prepared by the layer-by-layer assembly process. The B-0.50-B sandwich-structured composites achieved an optimal discharge energy storage density (Ue) of 9.08 J cm−3 and Eb of 432 MV m−1.

Developing highly efficient and durable bifunctional electrocatalysts for both the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in acidic environments is vital for advancing proton exchange membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE) technology. Herein, we report the design and synthesis of a three-dimensional Pt-RuO 2 -based catalyst supported on reduced graphene oxide (rGO), denoted as 3D Pt-RuO 2 /rGO, which exhibits outstanding bifunctional electrocatalytic activity by tuning its electronic structure and the binding strength of reaction intermediates. The 3D porous architecture not only facilitates fast charge transfer and mass transport of the catalysts but also increases the exposure of active sites. Remarkably, 3D Pt-RuO 2 /rGO delivers low overpotentials of only 200 mV for OER and 14 mV for HER at 10 mA cm −2 in 0.5 M H 2 SO 4 . It also enables overall water splitting (OWS) at a cell voltage as low as 1.48 V at 10 mA cm −2 , outperforming conventional noble metal-based materials (NMBs). Furthermore, a 3D Pt-RuO 2 /rGO||3D Pt-RuO 2 /rGO MEA delivered a low cell voltage of 1.549 V at 1 A cm −2 and maintained stable operation for 300 h in a PEM single-cell electrolyzer. Operando differential electrochemical mass spectrometry (DEMS) shows that the OER of 3D Pt-RuO 2 /rGO under acidic conditions follows the adsorption evolution mechanism (AEM). Density functional theory (DFT) calculations further reveal the synergistic interaction between oxygen vacancies and the metal/oxide heterointerface. This interface-vacancy synergy not only facilitates the exposure of abundant active sites, but also promotes electron transfer from Pt to RuO 2 , thereby optimizing the kinetics of water dissociation. This work provides valuable insight into the rational design of bifunctional electrocatalysts for high-efficiency acidic water electrolysis and highlights the potential of 3D heterostructured materials for future PEMWE systems.

ZnFe2O4is a promising anode material for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) due to its high theoretical capacity, but its practical use is limited by poor conductivity and large volume changes during cycling. To address these issues, a ZnFe2O4-reduced graphene oxide (Z-F-rGO) composite was fabricated via solvothermal synthesis and calcination, with Z-F nanoparticles in situ anchored on rGO sheets. Characterizations (XRD, Raman, XPS, SEM, TEM) confirm the formation of highly crystalline spinel Z-F with good interfacial contact with rGO. The Z-F-rGO electrode shows excellent electrochemical performance, maintaining a reversible capacity of 985.4 mA h g−1after 100 cycles at 0.5 A g−1, significantly higher than the 498.2 mA h g−1of the Z-F. At 1.0 A g−1, the Z-F-rGO electrode retains 959.4 mA h g−1after 300 cycles, while the Z-F electrode shows a capacity of 441.3 mA h g−1. CV analysis indicates good reversibility, while EIS and GITT reveal reduced charge-transfer resistance and enhanced Li+diffusion. This work provides an efficient strategy for scalable Z-F-rGO composites, offering a promising approach for high-performance LIB anodes.

A three-dimensionally interconnected molybdenum trioxide (MoO3)/polypyrrole (PPy)/reduced graphene oxide (rGO) composite was synthesized via an eco-friendly three-step method. The as-obtained electrode shows a high specific capacity of 412.3 F g–1 at a current density of 0.5 A g–1 and a good cycling stability (85.1% of the initial specific capacitance after 6000 cycles at 2 A g–1 is retained), and these excellent electrochemical performances can be attributed to the unique structure, remarkable electrical conductivity, and the synergetic effects between MoO3, PPy, and rGO. Furthermore, a symmetric supercapacitor based on a MoO3/PPy/rGO electrode was assembled to investigate the practical application performance of this material. The results demonstrate a high energy density of 19.8 W h kg–1 at a power density of 301 W kg–1. These findings shine a light on the rational design of electrode materials with multicomponents for high-performance supercapacitors.

All-solid-state structural supercapacitors (ASSCs), as a kind of multifunctional energy storage devices, show great application potential in the field of building. However, the inability to achieve high energy density is a major bottleneck in the application of ASSCs. Herein, a novel 3D nanosheet material is designed by a facile method, aiming to boost areal-energy-density for ASSCs. By doping of S (Na 2 S·9 H 2 O) on the rGO/N 1 C 1 M nanosheet (rGO/N 1 C 1 M-S 3 ’), we achieved an extremely areal capacitance of 9407.62 mF/cm 2 at 5 mA/cm 2 , which is much higher than 4421.33 mF/cm 2 (rGO/N 1 C 1 M). Definitely, this is the best performance reported so far for rGO/NCM electrode. An asymmetric ASSCs (1 cm × 1 cm×0.2 cm) prototype device exhibits excellent performance, with a high areal capacitance of 242.82 mF/cm 2 , a high areal-energy-density of 0.076 mWh/cm 2 at 3 mA/cm 2 . As a proof-concept-application. the ASSCs was enlarged to 4.5 cm × 4.5 cm × 0.2 cm, three ASSCs connected in series can light up a green light emitting diode indicator about ~1066 s, and can still work normally under the pressure of 500 g. The demonstration of employing rGO/N 1 C 1 M-S 3 ’ electrode opens up new opportunities to fabricate high performance ASSCs for structure energy storage in building.

Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have been widely studied as a promising sulfur host material in Li-S batteries due to their unique physical and chemical properties. Great efforts have been made to prepare carbon/TMDs, especially graphene/TMDs heterostructures as the cathodes of Li-S batteries. Recently, ReS 2 shows a new 1T′ phase and great potential in Li-S batteries because of its stable structure and a large amount of catalytic active sites. Herein, we prepared a new ReS 2 nanosheets anchored on rGO (rGO/1T′-ReS 2 ) composite as a lithium polysulfides (LiPSs) immobilizer and electrocatalyst for Li-S batteries. The unique pore structure and rGO incorporation can effectively mitigate volume expansion and enhance electronical conductivity. Moreover, the novel 1T′ phase of ReS 2 shows both efficient chemical adsorption function and large electrocatalytic active sites of LiPSs . These advantages have been demonstrated by both characterization techniques and theoretical calculations. As a result, the rGO/1T′-ReS 2 /S nanosheets display significantly enhanced coulombic efficiency, rate performance and cycling stability compared with the rGO/S nanosheets and the rGO/1T′-ReS 2 /S nanospheres.
