TiO 2 /Ag nanostructured porous films were prepared by spin coating of P25 TiO 2 /colloidal silica on glass substrate and subsequent photochemical deposition of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). The adhesion strength of the film on glass substrate was evaluated and the result indicated that porous films formed on the glass substrates were robust and durable. The porous structure of TiO 2 /SiO 2 film facilitated the implantation of uniformly dispersed AgNPs having sizes generally less than 10 nm. By acting as electron scavengers, AgNPs effectively provided an alternative electron transfer route, thus enhancing the photocatalytic efficiency for degradation of methylene blue (MB). Compared with the bare TiO 2 film derived from P25, TiO 2 /Ag porous films showed an improved photocatalytic activity. This conclusion was further supported by photocurrent density measurements on the films. The study also demonstrated experimentally that TiO 2 /Ag porous films had sustained stability with the photocatalysis maintaining its original activity after at least four consecutive reaction cycles.

Nanofiber matrix loading Ag nanoparticles have been applied for SERS measurements with the limitation of poor reproducibility. By introducing polymethacrylic acid (PMAA) into the electrospun solutions in this contribution, fairly uniform PMAA/poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) ultrafine fibers containing silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were successfully prepared via electrospinning by means of in situ photo reduction of silver ions. PMAA can significantly improve the absorbing amounts of silver ions in the polymer owing to its linear structure with abundant carboxyl groups, which makes the content and size of formed AgNPs in the polymer matrix to be easily controlled under different light sources (such as desk lamp, 365 nm UV lamp, and 254 nm UV lamp). With the electrospun AgNPs/PMAA/PVP fibrous membranes, malachite green (MG), a significant environmental organic pollutant known for its genotoxicity, was successfully detected with RSD values below 0.2% through SERS signals.

A highly efficient ratiometric electrochemiluminescence (ECL) immunoassay was explored by bidirectionally regulating the ECL intensity of two luminophors. The immunoassay was conducted in a split-type mode consisting of an ECL detection procedure and a sandwich immunoreaction. The ECL detection was executed using a dual-disk glassy carbon electrode modified with two potential-resolved luminophors (g-C 3 N 4 -Ag and Ru-MOF-Ag nanocomposites), and the sandwich immunoreaction using glucose oxidase (GOx)-modified SiO 2 nanospheres as labels was carried out in a 96-well plate. The Ag nanoparticles (NPs) acted as bifunctional units both for triggering the resonance energy transfer (RET) with g-C 3 N 4 and for accelerating the electron transfer rate of the Ru-MOF-Ag ECL reaction. When the H 2 O 2 catalyzed by GOx in the 96-well plate was transferred to the dual-disk glass carbon electrode, the doped Ag NPs in the two luminophors could be etched, thus destroying the RET between C 3 N 4 and the accelerated reaction to Ru-MOF, resulting in an opposite trend in the ECL signal outputted from the dual disks. Using the ratio of the two signals for quantification, the constructed immunosensor for a model target, i.e. myoglobin, exhibited a low detection limit of 4.7 × 10 –14 g/mL. The ingenious combination of ECL ratiometry, bifunctional Ag NPs, and a split-type strategy effectively reduces environmental and human errors, offering a more precise and sensitive analysis for complex samples. Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) is renowned for its ultra-sensitivity, rapidity, and non-destructive nature, making it invaluable in environmental monitoring, food safety testing, and biomedical diagnostics. Efficient fabrication of low-cost, contamination-free, reusable, and functional SERS substrates is highly desirable. This work introduces a simple and cost-effective method for fabricating SERS substrates by combining femtosecond (fs) laser-induced periodic surface structuring (LIPSS) with electrochemical deposition of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) on stainless steel mesh (SSM). The highly uniform and periodic nanostructures can be induced by fs laser on the surface of SSM, acting as substrate and enabling the electrochemically deposited Ag NPs to grow into three dimensional (3D) nanostructures. This significantly increases the number of "hot spots" and enhances SERS signal intensity due to the innovative hierarchical micro/nanostructures and concentration enriched effect. The performance of the substrates was evaluated using Rhodamine 6 G (R6G) and malachite green (MG) as probe molecules, achieving detection limits (LOD) of 1.35 × 10⁻¹ ² M and 1.28 × 10⁻¹ ⁰ M, with enhancement factors (EF) of 3.58 × 10⁹ and 1.88 × 10⁷, respectively. The substrates exhibit high reproducibility and uniformity, with a relative standard deviation (RSD) of 2.742 %. Moreover, stability tests demonstrated excellent mechanical and chemical robustness, as the substrate maintained stable SERS performance after ultrasonic treatment (40 kHz, 30 s) and exposure to acidic and alkaline environments (pH 3–11). Numerical simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the nanostructures in enhancing SERS signal. This combined method simplifies fabrication and enables scalable production, proving promising for advanced molecular detection applications.

Antibacterial micromotors with intriguing properties have represented frontiers of research in the biomedical and environmental fields. While single-powered micromotors still encounter some challenges for efficient propulsion in an intricate biological environment, herein, dual-propelled Fe3O4/BiOI/Ag (FBA) micromotors with hollow structure were synthesized via two facile steps without involving any sophisticated equipment. In this unique design, efficient propulsion of an FBA micromotor powered by magnetic stimuli/visible light was demonstrated. Impressively, the micromotor was capable of flexible propulsion with a remarkable velocity of 119.2 ± 5.9 μm s–1 without addition of toxic fuel. Taking advantage of the locomotion, bacterial capture ability, and photocatalytic capacity, 1 × 107 CFU mL–1 Escherichia coli (E. coli) can be totally inactivated by hollow FBA micromotors. The ideal universality of FBA for antibacterial application toward Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) was confirmed. Besides, the FBA micromotors manifested antibiofilm capacity toward E. coli, methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA), and P. aeruginosa. It is worth mentioning that they also displayed ideal biocompatibility and lower toxicity. More importantly, the FBA micromotors can effectively accelerate S. aureus-infected wound healing without causing adverse effects. This work offers an innovative strategy for facile design of dual-propelled micromotors for various environmental and biomedical applications.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is one of the most aggressive and challenging subtypes with limited treatment options and poor prognosis. To overcome these obstacles, Ag-doped SnSe (ASS) nanosheets were used as photonic hyperthermia agents for treating TNBC. ASS featured a high photothermal-conversion efficiency and photon hyperthermia effect. Additionally, biosafety assessments, including hemolysis assays and histopathological analysis, confirmed that ASS was biosafety. These findings suggest that ASS, in synergy with the second near-infrared biowindow (NIR-II) light irradiation, offers a noninvasive, effective, and safe therapeutic strategy for TNBC. This innovative approach exemplifies the evolving landscape of TNBC treatment, where technology and biology converge to offer more precise and personalized therapies.

The preparation of a low shearing shell on the surface of carbon spheres (CS) is an attractive strategy to improve the lubrication properties of CS. In this study, core–shell structural C@Ag particles were prepared using CS as the hard core and Ag nanoparticles as the soft shell. Then, the additives were mixed with Polyalphaolefin 20 to prepare the C@Ag core–shell-enhanced lithium complex grease (C@Ag-LCG). The physicochemical properties, corrosion resistance, and tribological behaviors of LCGs were investigated. C@Ag-LCG exhibited the best high-temperature resistance and colloidal stability compared with the CS-enhanced lithium complex grease (LCG) and pure LCG. The dropping point and oil separation rate of 0.05 wt% C@Ag-LCG were 255 °C and 2.36 %, respectively. The tribological behavior of greases was tested using a four-ball friction tester, and the main damage mechanism was abrasive wear. The C@Ag additive reduced the average friction coefficient and wear spot diameter by 27.17 % and 26.12 %, respectively. The improved properties were attributed to the synergistic lubrication of hard CS core and soft Ag shell with the rolling, filling, and self-repairing effects, C@Ag deposit films and the self-lubricating oil film, as well as the thickener film and the tribochemical film at the frictional interfaces.

In the complex human body fluids, neurotransmitters such as dopamine (DA) play a significant role in regulating physiological functions, thereby impacting the normal functioning of biological activities. Hence, employing a rapid and non-destructive analytical technique for precise measurement of these molecules is crucial. Here, a novel piezoelectric-enhanced ZnO/Ag microcavity SERS substrate was designed, enabling ultra-sensitive and instantaneous detection of DA molecules. This substrate achieves exceptional trace detection performance, with a detection limit for Rhodamine 6 G (R6G) molecules as low as 5×10 −13 M and a EF of 1.05×10 11 , DA can be accurately identified even at exceedingly low concentrations, demonstrating outstanding capabilities in trace detection. This innovative structure not only represents a breakthrough in the rapid trace detection of neurotransmitters but also introduces new avenues for research and diagnostics in fields such as precision medicine, neuroscience , and pharmaceutical development.

The detection of pefloxacin (PEF) in milk is of significant importance for food safety. Traditional methods for detecting PEF often rely on techniques such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), which are complex and time-consuming. This article introduces a surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate based on a composite of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) for the rapid detection of PEF in milk. After testing PEF in both water and milk, the detection limits were calculated to be 6.31 μg/L for water and 82 μg/L for milk, with correlation coefficients of 0.991 and 0.998, respectively. Furthermore, the average recovery rate of PEF in milk ranged from 96.25% to 106.17%, with a relative standard deviation (RSD) of 4.32% to 8.88%. This work offers a simple and rapid method for detecting PEF in milk. Graphical

In industry, silver-based catalysts are the mainstream choice for converting ethylene to ethylene oxide (EO), and the morphology of Ag particles plays an important role in their catalytic performance; however, related studies are scarce. In this work, evidence from SEM shown that we successfully synthesized three different morphologies of Ag particles induced by different solvent, i.e., flower-like Ag (Fl-Ag), spheroidal Ag (Sp-Ag) and sheet-like Ag (Sh-Ag), dissolve them respectively into the mixed solution of silver nitrate/oxalic acid to form a suspension, then load onto α-Al 2 O 3 . Through were calculated from the XRD peak area the Ag(100) surface occupancy has the order of Fl-Ag (30 %) > Sh-Ag (20 %) > Sp-Ag (15 %), and the selectivity of EO has positive relation with similar order of Fl-Ag/Al 2 O 3 (85 %) > Sh-Ag/ Al 2 O 3 (72 %) > Sp-Ag/Al 2 O 3 (70 %). The selectivity of Fl-Ag/Al 2 O 3 for EO at 210 °C was 85 %. It is shown that Ag(100) surface has better O 2 interaction and activated than that of Ag(111) surface, and (100) has a lower activation energy than the side reaction (0.9 eV vs 1.0 eV), facilitates the conversion of ethylene to ethylene oxide. This study provides a new method to design and optimize silver catalysts.

Non–enzymatic glucose sensors have gained significant attention as promising alternatives to address the limitations associated with enzyme–based sensors. Numerous non–enzymatic glucose sensors have demonstrated effective, non–invasive blood glucose monitoring through the analysis of human body fluids such as urine, saliva, and sweat. In this study, Cu 2 O/Ag nanowires (NWs) nanocomposites were in situ fabricated as electrode materials for non–enzymatic glucose sensors. To enhance the electrocatalytic performance, Cu 2 O/Ag NWs nanocomposites with a distinctive pepero–shaped morphology were synthesized using varied copper precursor ratios, facilitating a systematic investigation of Cu 2 O content on glucose detection. The results reveal that the CA–2 electrode material exhibits outstanding electrocatalytic performance for glucose detection, with sensitivity ranges of 10–100 nM and 1 μM–1 mM, achieving sensitivities of 22,099 and 1474 μA mM −1 cm −2 , respectively, and a detection limit of 3.29 nM. Additionally, this material has shown high efficiency in detecting glucose in urine, highlighting its excellent detection capabilities.

In this study, we successfully prepared silver electrodes through a silver mirror reaction. By carefully regulating the amount of ammonia complexing agent in the silver–ammonia solution, we effectively suppressed the decomposition of the plating solution while reducing the surface roughness of silver films from 9.22 nm to 4.42 nm. The electrical conductivity of our solution-processed silver layers was nearly one order of magnitude higher than that of conventional inkjet-printed silver electrodes. When applied as source-drain electrodes in organic field-effect transistors (OFETs), these electrodes enabled devices with an average mobility of 0.13 cm 2 /(V·s) and remarkably low mobility variation of only 8.7%. Furthermore, we modified the silver electrodes through chemical platinum plating, achieving a significant 0.74 eV alteration in work function, which demonstrates the great potential of chemical plating for surface functionalization in solution-processed organic electronic devices.
