We describe a simple method for preparing the hybrid material of Pt nanoparticles (NPs) supported on carbon-coated SnO 2 nanospheres (Pt–SnO 2 @C). The as-prepared Pt–SnO 2 @C nanocomposite was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The presence of carbon-coated SnO 2 nanospheres (SnO 2 @C) remarkably improves the electrocatalytic activity of Pt NPs towards hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) oxidation. The Pt–SnO 2 @C nanocomposite modified glassy carbon (GC) electrode exhibited enhanced amperometric response to H 2 O 2 , with detection limit of 0.1 μM and sensitivity of 241.1 μA mM −1 cm −2 .

Constructing highly efficient and low-cost catalysts is essential for the selective hydrogenation reaction. Herein, we developed fully exposed Pt atomically dispersed catalysts (Pt AD /C-Al 2 O 3 ) by a simple carbon modified strategy. Importantly, the co-existence of Pt-O 1 C 2 single atoms and Pt nanoclusters in the Pt AD /C-Al 2 O 3 system could exhibit excellent catalytic activity in the selective hydrogenation of quinoline and p-nitrophenol. Notably, the quinoline conversion and the corresponding selectivity of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline is 99.6 % and 99.3 %, respectively. Meanwhile, the turnover frequency of Pt AD /C-Al 2 O 3 (1081 h −1 ) is 3.8 and 5.7 times higher than that of Pt single-atom catalysts (Pt SA /C-Al 2 O 3 ) and Pt nanoparticles (Pt NPs /C-Al 2 O 3 ), respectively, during quinoline hydrogenation. Besides, the rate constant of Pt AD /C-Al 2 O 3 could reach 192.5 min -1 mg Pt -1 for p-nitrophenol hydrogenation, which is much better than most of the reported catalysts. Mechanism studies revealed the synergistic effect between Pt-O 1 C 2 single atoms and Pt nanoclusters acts as the main role in enhancing the hydrogenation activity. Specifically, Pt single atoms sites mainly adsorb and activate quinoline molecules, while Pt nanoclusters boost the dissociation of H 2 molecules to H atoms. This work paves an origin carbon modified method to construct Pt atomically dispersed catalysts for efficient multifunctional hydrogenation.

This paper describes the preparation of Ni/Pt/CNFs via electrospinning technology, carbonization process, and chemical reduction method. The structure and composition of Ni/Pt/CNFs were characterized with X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, nitrogen adsorption isotherms, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Meanwhile, the morphology was analyzed with scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The electrochemical performance was evaluated by oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), cyclic voltammetry and chronopotentiometry. The results indicated that Pt and Ni nanoparticles were completely reduced in the experimental process and homogeneously distributed on the nanofibers with the average diameters of 3.8 and 17.8 nm, respectively. In addition, the Ni50/Pt/CNFs catalyst showed excellent electrocatalytic performance for ORR and superior specific and mass activities for methanol oxidation (the maximum current density is ca. 10.9 mA cm–2) and exhibited a slightly slower current decay over time, better than the reference samples which indicated a higher tolerance to CO-like intermediates.

The hydrogenolysis of glycerol was performed over a Pt/C catalyst in combination with several alkali metal hydroxides and their salts. LiOH was found to be an effective promoter for the selective hydrogenolysis of glycerol to 1,2-propanediol. Hydroxyl ions are the main factor to promote the reaction process by dehydration of the glyceraldehyde intermediate. Lithium ions play a role in assisting the dehydrogenation of glycerol to glyceraldehyde, because they have the right size to coordinate with the alkoxide species. A possible surface reaction mechanism involving the participation of lithium ions was proposed to account for the results obtained in the study.

Gradient Mn-La-Pt catalysts with three-layered structure of manganese dioxide (MnO 2 ), lanthanum oxide (La 2 O 3 ), and Platinum (Pt) for Li-O 2 battery are prepared in this study. The mass ratio of the catalysts is respectively 5:2:3, 4:2:4, and 3:2:5 (MnO 2 : La 2 O 3 : Pt) which is start from the side of the electrolyte. The relationship between morphology structure and electrochemical performance of gradient catalyst is investigated by energy dispersive spectrometry and constant current charge/discharge test. The Li-O 2 battery based on gradient Mn-La-Pt catalysts shows high discharge specific capacity (2707 mAh g −1 ), specific energy density (8400 Wh kg −1 ) and long cycle life (56 cycles). The improvement of the Li-O 2 battery discharge capacity is attributed to the gradient distribution of MnO 2 and Pt and the involvement of La 2 O 3 that can improve the energy density of the battery. More important, this work will also provide new ideas and methods for the research of other metal-air battery.

Utilizing solar energy to decompose tetracycline (TC) is a green strategy to treat wastewater. Herein, a heterogeneous hollow structured TiO 2 decorated Pt nanoparticles were successfully designed and synthesized via hard-template approach and photo-deposition process toward TC photodegradation . The Pt nanoparticles loaded on the surface of hollow structured TiO 2 can increase the visible light absorption due to the local surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effect. Furthermore, owing to the tough electron oscillation of the LSPR excitation, the plasmonic hot holes on the surface of Pt nanoparticles can capture the electrons of TiO 2 , effectively facilitating the separation of photo-excited charge carriers because of the formation of Schottky junction constructed between Pt and TiO 2 . Combined the natural merits of shorten conveying path of charge carriers and physical structural stability for hollow structure, the optimal Pt/TiO 2 hetero-junction hybrid showed superior photocatalytic activity and durability for TC photodegradation with the degradation efficiency of 93.8 % after 30 min and the rate constant of 0.09196 min −1 under 300 W Xe lamp irradiation. This work displays a heterogeneous hybrids catalyst based on eco-friendly metal and semiconductor materials which can be used in the fields including without limitation TC photodegradation.

Background Designing heterojunctions with efficient electron-hole separation holds great promise for improving photoelectric response. Results Herein, we reported a multifunctional Pt co-catalyst-modified Bi 2 O 2 S nanoflowers (BOS NFs) photocatalytic component for achieving an efficient photoelectric chemistry (PEC) immunosensor for alpha-fetoprotein (AFP). Briefly, the Pt co-catalyst improved the intrinsic band gap structure of BOS on the one hand, and on the other hand, it was able to achieve a rapid decomposition of hydrogen peroxide to hydroxyl radicals, which led to the improvement of electrochemical half-responses during the amplification of target immunosignals. In addition, Pt-functionalized BOS NFs (BOS–Pt) exhibited peroxidase-like enzymatic reaction activity and related properties. By enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, a sandwich immuno-model in the presence of AFP catalyzed the production of hydrogen peroxide from the substrate glucose and the conversion of a sizable photoelectrochemical signal catalyzed by BOS-Pt. Following condition optimization, it was determined that the developed sensor exhibited a specific response to AFP over a wide linear range of 0.05–50 ng mL −1 . Significance This work provides a new strategy for developing efficient immunosensors from the perspective of modulating photoelectrochemical half-reactions.

Green production of alicyclic amines is highly desirable but of great challenges. Herein, an efficient one-pot synthesis of alicyclic amines from nitroaromatics was realized with a Pt-Ru bimetallic catalyst. 0.5 %Pt-2.5 %Ru supported on an air-exfoliated C 3 N 4 nanosheet achieved 100.0 % conversion of nitrobenzene (NB) with 98.9 % selectivity of cyclohexylamine (CHA) under mild conditions of 80 °C and 1 MPa, attaining a yield rate for alicyclic amine of 357.9 mmol/g metal ·h. Our study has shown hydrogenation of nitro group and aromatic ring took place in sequence over Pt and Ru in a tandem manner due to the highly selective adsorption. During the hydrogenation, the homolytic dissociation of H 2 occurred on the bimetal sites and the inter-site hydrogen spillover between the bimetal played a crucial role. C 3 N 4 nanosheet as the support not only gave rise to the uniform dispersion of metal nanoparticles, but was crucial in curbing the unnecessary adsorption of intermediate aromatic amines. Our study has also demonstrated the good stability and wide applicability of the Pt-Ru/C 3 N 4 -air catalyst for the hydrogenation of various nitroaromatic derivatives.

The sluggish kinetic processes of the anode and the poisoning characteristics of *NH 3 intermediates in the direct ammonia fuel cell paradigm necessitate bespoke electrocatalyst engineering. Given the fundamental traits of surface reactions in electrochemical ammonia oxidation reaction (AOR) and the high efficiency of alloy catalysts, PtNi nanowires, nanorods, and nanoparticles with a Pt shell structure were developed as surface-engineered model catalysts to clarify how the microarchitecture of nanocatalysts affects the adsorption of NH 3 and intermediates, along with AOR activity. PtNi nanowires exhibit significantly improved activity compared to PtNi nanorods, nanoparticles, and commercial Pt/C, due to the higher proportion of the Pt(100) facet and their unique thin Pt shell layer structure. The peak current density of PtNi nanowires reaches 0.63 mA cm −2 , 2.52 times higher than that of commercial Pt/C. Furthermore, the incorporation of Ni into Pt can effectively bolster the electrochemical durability via electronic effects on the Pt surfaces. Upon conversion from ambient temperature to 60 °C, PtNi nanowires still demonstrate superior AOR activity and durability compared to commercial Pt/C. Density functional theory calculations have elucidated that the thin Pt shell structure can effectively augment the adsorption of NH 3 and diminish the activation energy of the AOR process. This seminal work provides a conceptual framework for the design of efficacious AOR catalysts.

Constructing single-atom catalysts (SACs) using organic porous framework materials as supports presents a promising approach for developing highly efficient photocatalysts for hydrogen evolution. However, the fabrication of SACs that are both highly stable and active poses a significant challenge, particularly in the precise anchoring of metal single atoms. In this study, we utilized 1,3,6,8-tetra (p-methyl benzoate) pyrene as a ligand to synthesize pyrene-based hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks (denoted as PFC-1) through a self-assembly approach. Subsequently, a liquid-phase photoreduction process was employed to deposit noble metal platinum (Pt) onto PFC-1, resulting in the fabrication of SACs (PFC-1@Pt). Characterization results confirmed that Pt existed in a monatomic state, anchored through Pt C and Pt O coordination bonds with PFC-1. Serving as electron capture and separation centers, the Pt single atoms effectively suppressed electron-hole recombination, thereby prolonging carrier lifetimes. Consequently, the PFC-1@Pt SAC exhibited efficient hydrogen evolution performance with a rate of 2202.5 μmol g −1 h −1 and maintained photocatalytic activity for over 40 h. Our findings provide a systematic approach for developing efficient and stable SACs based on HOFs, expanding the potential applications of HOF materials in photocatalysis.

In this paper, petal sheet layered Co-Al bimetallic hydroxides were prepared using the hydrothermal method using methanol as a solvent. Pt/Co-Al-O catalysts were produced after the impregnation method and H 2 reduction. This catalyst was applied to the dehydrogenation reaction process of methylcyclohexane to toluene. A fixed-bed reaction device carried out comparative tests of this series of catalysts, and the effect of Co addition on the performance of Pt/Co-Al-O catalysts was investigated in detail. Among them, the Pt/Co 3 -Al 1 -O catalyst showed the best performance with high toluene selectivity throughout the dehydrogenation process. The MCH conversion started to be greater than 90% at 330 °C, and the hydrogenolysis rate was 262.7 mmol/g Pt /min. The conversion gradually increased with the reaction temperature, and the conversion could reach 99.5% at 410 °C. The appropriate introduction of Co element can reduce the excessive strong acidic sites of Al 2 O 3 itself and retain a certain number of weak acidic sites, while the bimetallic hydroxide carrier improves the dispersibility of the active component, reduces its particle size, and forms a certain strong interaction between the carrier and Pt. The final conversion of the catalyst decreased by about 2% in the 100 h stability test at 380 °C, which indicated that the Pt/Co 3 –Al 1 –O catalyst had strong coking resistance and good stability. These results indicate that the Pt/Co–Al–O series catalysts have potential industrial applications in hydrogen energy utilization.
