Constructing heterostructured microwave absorbers out of low dimensional nanomaterials has been proved an effective method for enhancing the attenuation ability and boarding the effective attenuation bandwidth in electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorbing area. By using a simple intermediate reduction mixing process, 2D layer by layer hierarchical architectures of few-layered MoS 2 nanosheets (NMS) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) are prepared under different volume ratios, which achieve enhanced EMW absorption performance with respect to the pure NMS or rGO. The minimum reflection loss (RL) value of NMS/rGO-5:1 with 20 wt% loading is −55 dB under 2.2 mm compared to −38.42 dB of pure NMS with 60% loading under 2.4 mm or −37.2 dB of pure rGO with 30% loading under 3.5 mm. The effective attenuation bandwidth (EAB, <−10 dB) of NMS/rGO-2:1 with 25% loading is up to ∼6.96 GHz. The enhanced performance of NMS/rGO is attributed to the strong interfacial polarization loss resulting from the NMS/rGO heterojunctions, as well as the defect dipole polarization loss, conduction loss and scattering loss. Furthermore, this work demonstrates the easy fabrication of layer by layer NMS/rGO heterojunctions, paving a way for harvesting unique physicochemical properties of 2D transition metal dichalcogenides/graphene composites. Considering the enhanced EMW absorption performance and greatly reduced filler loading, the resulting 2D layer by layer NMS/rGO show promising prospect in the area of microwave absorption.

Carbon black is utilized as a conventional electrocatalyst support material for proton exchange membrane fuel cells. However, this support is prone to corrosion under oxidative and harsh environments, thus limiting the durability of the fuel cells. Meanwhile, carbon corrosion would also weaken the linkage between Pt and the support material, which causes Pt agglomeration, and consequently, deterioration of the cell performance. To overcome the drawbacks of a Pt/C electrocatalyst, a hybrid support material comprising molybdenum disulfide and reduced graphene oxide is proposed and synthesized in this study to exploit the graphitic nature of graphene and the availability of the exposed edges of MoS 2 . TEM results show the uniform dispersion of Pt nanoparticles over the MoS 2 -rGO surface. Electrochemical measurements indicate higher ECSA retention and better ORR activity after 10000 potential cycles for Pt/MoS 2 -rGO as compared to Pt/C, demonstrating the improved durability for this hybrid support material.

A simple route was reported for the synthesis of reduced graphene oxide (RGO) based NiFe 2−x Co x O 4 nanocomposite (NiFe 2−x Co x O 4 -RGO), a catalyst to activate persulfate (PS) for the degradation of bisphenol A (BPA). The crystalline structure and morphology of the composite were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). It is confirmed that spherical NiFe 2−x Co x O 4 nanoparticles with a size around 14 nm are uniformly anchored on RGO sheets. Compared with recently reported catalysts, NiFe 0.7 Co 1.3 O 4 -RGO 1 exhibits impressively higher catalytic activity, leading to much faster degradation of BPA with pretty less PS used. Moreover, the excellent catalytic performance can be maintained in a wide range of pH. The radical scavenging study and EPR experiments indicate that free radical, surface-bound radical and nonradical processes are involved in the degradation of BPA. In addition, the degradation of various organic contaminants other than BPA were also carried out, indicating that NiFe 0.7 Co 1.3 O 4 -RGO 1 /PS system has higher catalytic activity toward BPA.

The ZnAl mixed metal-oxides (MMOs)/graphene nanocomposites were successfully fabricated by a facile hydrothermal method combined with a calcination process. The thermal treatment enables simultaneously the formation of ZnO/ZnAl 2 O 4 heterogeneous structure, which are uniformly decorated on the surface of graphene, accompanying with the reduction of graphene oxide. The as-prepared heterostructure photocatalysts were well characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) to conduct investigations into the phase structures, microstructure and optical capability. The ZnAl MMO/RGO 20 composite displayed favorable adsorption property and photo-degradation efficiency for Ciprofloxacin (CIP) aqueous solution under visible light. The photo-degradation efficiency of the as-prepared ZnAl MMO/RGO 20 was 3.0 and even 4.6 times higher than that of ZnAl MMO and pure ZnAl LDH, respectively. The improvement of photocatalytic performance is ascribed to the synergistic effect of heterogeneous structure coupled with graphene, which realizes efficient charge separation efficiency, enlarged visible light adsorption range, and chemical stability of hybrid nanocomposite. The results of EIS, PL and photocurrent response also explained the best performance of ZnAl MMO/RGO 20 nanocomposite. Besides, the mechanism of ZnAl MMO/RGO 20 photocatalytic system was proposed and analyzed in detail.

The feasibility of methylparaben (MeP) degradation in aqueous solution by dielectric barrier discharge induced non-thermal plasma combined with zinc oxide-reduced graphene oxide (ZnO-rGO) nanosheets was investigated. The ZnO-rGO nanosheets were synthesized by hydrothermal method and characterized by X-ray diffraction, nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherm, scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, UV–vis absorption spectroscopy, photocurrent, photoluminescence spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The effects of various factors (discharge power, initial concentration of MeP, initial pH value and air flow rate) on the degradation of MeP were evaluated and the changes of solution pH, conductivity and TOC during the degradation process were discussed. The results showed that when the discharge power was 20 W, the airflow rate was 20 L/h, the ZnO-rGO nanosheets dosage was 0.015 g/L, the initial concentration of MeP was 20 mg/L, and the initial pH value was 7.0, the degradation efficiency of MeP achieved 99% at 15 min. The adding of ZnO-rGO nanosheets to the non-thermal plasma system greatly enhanced the degradation efficiency of MeP. In addition, the role of some reactive species during the degradation process of MeP was also investigated. The degradation process of MeP was well fitted by the pseudo-first-order kinetics. Good stability of the synthetic ZnO-rGO was observed. The degradation intermediates of MeP were determined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometer and the degradation pathways were proposed. Under the attack of reactive species, conjugated structure destruction, hydroxylation, carboxylation and ring-opening reaction occurred during MeP degradation, resulting in the formation of organic acids and alcohols; furthermore, some of the degradation intermediates were mineralized to H 2 O and CO 2 .

A novel electrochemical nitrite (NaNO 2 ) sensor is fabricated by combining Fe 2 O 3 with protonated carbon nitride (H C 3 N 4 ) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO). The smaller H C 3 N 4 is distributed uniformly on the surface of the rGO support and acts as a nucleation site for the growth of Fe 2 O 3 . Conductive H C 3 N 4 is a nano-bridge to connect and uniformly distribute Fe 2 O 3 , a catalytic center, to the support rGO to enhance the electrocatalytic performance. The Fe 2 O 3 /H C 3 N 4 /rGO electrode possesses high sensitivity of 0.04874 μA μM −1 , wide linear response range spanning 25 nM to 3000 μM, a low detection limit of 18.55 nM (S/N = 3) and shows high selectivity for nitrite in the presence of common organic and inorganic interfering species (like NaCl, MgSO 4 , KNO 3 , ZnSO 4 , CaCl 2 , glucose, urea), fulfilling requirements for a nitrite sensor used in commercial applications.

Triacetone triperoxide (TATP) is a self-made explosive synthesized from the commonly used chemical acetone (C3H6O) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). As C3H6O and H2O2are the precursors of TATP, their detection is very important due to the high risk of the presence of TATP. In order to detect the precursors of TATP effectively, hierarchical molybdenum disulfide/reduced graphene oxide (MoS2/RGO) composites were synthesized by a hydrothermal method, using two-dimensional reduced graphene oxide (RGO) as template. The effects of the ratio of RGO to raw materials for the synthesis of MoS2on the morphology, structure, and gas sensing properties of the MoS2/RGO composites were studied. It was found that after optimization, the response to 50 ppm of H2O2vapor was increased from 29.0% to 373.1%, achieving an increase of about 12 times. Meanwhile, all three sensors based on MoS2/RGO composites exhibited excellent anti-interference performance to ozone with strong oxidation. Furthermore, three sensors based on MoS2/RGO composites were fabricated into a simple sensor array, realizing discriminative detection of three target analytes in 14.5 s at room temperature. This work shows that the synergistic effect between two-dimensional RGO and MoS2provides new possibilities for the development of high performance sensors. Keywords:(TATP) precursors;MoS2/RGO composites;sensor arrays;synergistic effect

A composite consisting of NiCo 2 S 4 and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) was prepared via a hydrothermal process. Compared to individual NiCo 2 S 4 nanomaterials or reduced graphene oxide, the composite exhibits enhanced oxidase-like activity. It is found that dopamine (DA) inhibits the ability of NiCo 2 S 4 -rGO to oxidize the substrate 3,3′,5′,5′-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to form blue colored ox-TMB. Based on these findings, a colorimetric method for determination of DA was worked out. The absorption, best measured at 652 nm, increases linearly in the 0.5–100 μM DA concentration range, and the limit of detection is 0.42 μM. This method was successfully applied to the detection of DA in spiked human serum samples.
A hierarchical NiCo 2 S 4 -rGO composite was prepared through two-step hydrothermal process. It exhibits enhanced oxidase-like activity which, however, is inhibited by dopamine (DA). Hence, less blue colored ox-TMB is formed by oxidation of 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine in the presence of dopamine.

Magnetic NiAl layered doubled hydroxide (LDH)/Fe3O4–RGO composites were successfully synthesized via a simple hydrothermal route. The as-prepared samples were well characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results showed that NiAl LDH nanoplatelets and Fe3O4 nanoparticles sized around 15 nm were uniformly anchored on the surface of graphene sheets. The NiAl LDH/Fe3O4–RGO25 photocatalyst was employed to degrade ciprofloxacin (CIP) in an aqueous solution under visible light irradiation. It exhibited enhanced photocatalytic activity compared to pure NiAl LDH, the degradation rate of the as-prepared NiAl LDH/Fe3O4–RGO25 was 1.5 and even 3 times faster than that of NiAl LDH/RGO25 and pure NiAl LDH, respectively. This enhancement of photocatalytic activity is attributed to the addition of graphene and Fe3O4 NPs, which both efficiently promote the separation of charge carriers and improve the optical absorption properties, synergistically facilitating the photocatalysis process. Furthermore, the NiAl LDH/Fe3O4–RGO25 photocatalyst was magnetically separable and exhibited stable catalytic activity, which is beneficial to its practical application.

In this work, a novel nitrogen-doped reduced graphene oxide-ceria (N-doped rGO-CeO 2 ) photocatalyst was successfully synthesized and exhibited a notable capability in degrading various organic pollutants . Among the synthesized samples, rGO-CeO 2 -900 N 2 demonstrated the most efficient photocatalytic activity , achieving a 77.43% degradation rate for tetracycline (TC) fitting the modified Elovich model ( R 2 = 0.99). The CeO 2 addition can increase defects and amorphous carbon species in rGO in Raman spectra . The rGO adding and N doping can contribute to more effective separation of photo-excited electrons/holes ( e - /h + ) and a faster rate of charge transfer via the results of photochemical tests. With the combination between rGO and CeO 2 , the N doped rGO-CeO 2 catalyst gains certain anti-H + ability in TC degradation and more·O 2 - can be generated under light, while the N doping can form an impurity level N 2p in CeO 2 and create additional reactive sites on the rGO. This N doped rGO-CeO 2 photocatalyst is well-suited for the harmless degradation and offers significant potential in wastewater treatment and pollution control.

A label-free electrochemical immunosensor was developed to rapidly detect tilmicosin (TMC) residues in pork and milk. The immunosensor was constructed by immobilizing a high-affinity monoclonal antibody against TMC on an rGO-PEI-Ag nanocomposite-modified electrode. The rGO-PEI-Ag nanocomposites were prepared by mixing polyethyleneimine (PEI) modified reduced graphene oxide (rGO) with AgNO 3 solution. The prepared rGO-PEI-Ag nanocomposites showed good redox activity and conductivity, as characterized by ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV–Vis), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). During the preparation process, staphylococcal protein A (SPA) was added to targetedly bind the Fc segment of the monoclonal antibody. The immunosensor showed a low detection limit (LOD) of 0.0013 ng/mL, a linear range of 0.01–100 ng/mL, and recoveries ranging from 92.77 to 100.02% in pork and 92.26–101.23% in milk. Furthermore, the immunosensor exhibited good stability, reproducibility, and specificity in detecting TMC in pork and milk real samples.
