In this paper, the hydrolysis process of aluminum subacetate (AlSA) was studied by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), 27Al nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and particle size distribution analysis, and poly(ethylene terephthalate-co-isophthalate) (PETI) was synthesized by using a compound catalyst made of its hydrolysate, γ-AlOOH, and ethylene glycol stibium (EGSb). Meanwhile, the effects of the γ-AlOOH addition stage on the catalytic effect and the relative properties of the polyester were investigated. The results showed that the Sb and Al compound catalyst had obvious synergistic effects on the process of the polyester polycondensation. With the same dosage of catalyst, the usage of EGSb and the polycondensation time were reduced by 60% and 18.6%, respectively, and the diethylene glycol content in the polyester also decreased by using the compound catalyst, compared with that obtained when only using the EGSb catalyst. The use of γ-AlOOH could play a catalytic role and also shows a unique crosslinking center, which could improve the melting point and glass transition temperature.

Highly reactive aluminum-fluorine composites with novel structures have attracted much attention in the past decades. However, there is not a specific mechanism to explain the combustion-supporting or inducing effect of F-polymer on aluminum powders . Herein, we present a systematic study of the induced reaction mechanism and propose a new elaboration. Two types of Nano-aluminum/Poly(vinylidene fluoride) (n-Al/PVDF) composites are fabricated via electrospray and mechanical mixing method, respectively. The electrospray sample excites a Pre-Ignition Reaction (PIR) between fluorine and the Al 2 O 3 shell at a low temperature, and simultaneously the specific surface area , surface element state and alumina shell structure of aluminum powders change to some extent. However, the surface structure of the physical mixture does not change significantly in the same temperature range. On this basis, we studied the relationship between the change of surface structure and the enhanced combustion performance of aluminum in electrospray sample. The results show that the combustion-supporting effect of PVDF on aluminum powder should be attributed to the corrosion of the alumina shell and the loose structure of the PIR product.

Light absorption range, recycling stability and charge transfer efficiency are key to the performance of photocatalytic material. Based on these targets, a Al doped TiO 2 catalyst was synthesized by the evaporation-induced process, after processed by NaBH 4 reduction, the black TiO 2 doped with Al was finally prepared. Uv-vis DRS, EPR and XPS analyses confirm the expanded light absorption window (300 nm - 1000 nm) and the introduction of abundant oxygen vacancy after the reduction process. The final product BTiO 2 /Al-0.5 has a degradation rate of about 84 % over the tetracycline hydrochloride within 60 minutes, the reaction rate constant (k) is 10.6 times higher than the unreduced sample. The dramatic change of photocatalytic ability can be assigned to the broadened visible light absorption , increased charge separation efficiency, narrowed band gap and defect-enriched oxygen vacancy . This work offers insights into the fabrication of TiO 2 catalyst and the introduction of oxygen defect.

The preparation of suitable SiC fiber (SiC f )/Al precursors is crucial for the fabrication of SiC f -strengthened Al alloys . In this work, a SiC f /Al precursor was prepared by pulse current deposition in a molten LiCl–KCl–AlCl 3 melt. The electrochemical deposition of Al 3+ was separately investigated on the Mo wire, Cu wire, SiC f , and Cu-coated SiC f electrodes. The intermediate Cu layer can eliminate the Li generated by the underpotential deposition on the carbon layer outside SiC f . In addition, open circuit chronopotentiometry was performed to confirm the reduction processes of Al 3+ on the Cu wire and Cu-coated SiC f , and the results indicate that Al 3+ exhibits similar reduction processes on the two electrodes. The deposited Al layer possibly formed Al–Cu alloys with the intermediate Cu layer on SiC f , which was beneficial to the connection between the Al layer and SiC f substrate. Scanning electron microscopy was employed to investigate the morphology and microstructure of the prepared SiC f /Al fiber. After the pulse current was optimized, a compact and even layer of Al was deposited on SiC f .

ZSM-5 zeolites with accessible micropore architecture and tunable acid–base sites are important shape-selective catalysts. However, the presence of exposed straight channels and the external acid–base sites of conventional ZSM-5 has a negative impact on shape selectivity. Herein, we report on the direct synthesis of an intergrowth ZSM-5 zeolite mimicking the mortise–tenon joints. It can be revealed by various methods that the mortise–tenon ZSM-5 shows an inverse Al gradient from the surface to the core of the zeolite. More importantly, the sinusoidal channels predominantly opened to their external surfaces are constructed. The shape-selective capability of the ZSM-5 zeolite has been fully exploited due to the intrinsic inert external surface and unique sinusoidal channel features, thereby resulting in high styrene selectivity (>90%) and good catalytic stability (>100 h) in the toluene side-chain alkylation reaction. In addition, in situ DRIFTS confirms that this intergrowth ZSM-5 contributes to the formation of more active intermediates of HCOO* and H3CO*, which is another reason responsible for the superior performance.

Oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of ethylbenzene is a promising process for styrene production. However, its application is limited by product overoxidation and purification requirements due to the co-feeding of mild oxidants. Herein, we report a facile manganese-based catalyst (K/Mn 3 O 4 -Al 2 O 3 ) and achieve competitive styrene selectivity of 88 % and ethylbenzene conversion of 95 % at 450 ℃ (84 % yield vs. ∼ 60 % yield in commercial dehydrogenation process at 600 ℃) under a cyclic redox ODH scheme. The introduction of Al 2 O 3 into MnO x restructures composite oxides and depresses bulk lattice-oxygen migration for the partial oxidation of ethylbenzene. The surface modification using potassium creates reactive sites and regulates surface properties, achieving ethylbenzene activation and high conversions. Highly active lattice oxygen in catalysts after bulk and surface modifications selectively converts ethylbenzene to styrene and water. This study provides an understanding of roles of manganese-based catalysts in styrene generation and offers a strategy to modulate lattice oxygen on catalysts.

Inconel 625 + x Al ( x = 0, 2.5, 5.0, 7.5, 10.0) alloy coatings were prepared by laser cladding. The addition of Al promoted the formation of the BCC phase, which changed the coating microstructure from an FCC + δ phase + Laves phase to FCC + BCC + δ phase + Laves phase. Inconel 625 + 2.5 Al alloy showed the greatest corrosion resistance among all samples. The formation of an Al 2 O 3 film improved the corrosion resistance of the coating, but excess Al decreased the Cr 2 O 3 content in the film, which decreased the corrosion resistance of the coating. Increasing the Al content aggravated the lattice distortion and improved the solid solution strengthening effect, while also increasing the amount of BCC phase, which improved the coating hardness. After adding Al, the Inconel 625 + x Al alloy coatings displayed strong plastic deformation resistance, and their wear resistance was improved due to the presence of a hard phase.

Laser phosphor display technology plays an important role in advanced display projection; however, it is a challenge in maintaining excellent color accuracy under high brightness due to the lack of red spectrum. Here, red-emitting Mg 2 Al 4 Si 5 O 18 :Eu 2+ ceramics as the phosphor wheel have been optimized in chemical compositions and texture orientation. The textured Mg 2 Al 4 Si 5 O 18 :Eu 2+ ceramics have high transparency and spot limiting ability, accordingly, the ceramic wheel outputs 1184 l m of ultra-bright red light under 50W·mm −2 laser power density. Moreover, the red spectral utilization (>600 nm) of textured Mg 2 Al 4 Si 5 O 18 :Eu 2+ ceramics is 2.17 times that of traditional Y 3 Al 5 O 12 :Ce 3+ phosphor wheel. The red-emitting textured Mg 2 Al 4 Si 5 O 18 :Eu 2+ cordierite ceramic herein enables an improved light-color saturation experience, and it is potential in the next-generation laser phosphor display applications.

Oxalic acid etching creates porous surface on micron-Al particles. • Porous Al surface enlarges contact area with I 2 O 5 and MoO 3 oxidizers. • MoO 3 triggers low-temperature preheating and high-temperature Mo + I 2 exotherm. • Etched ternary thermite reduces activation energy by up to 106 kJ·mol −1 . • Ignition delay decreases 170 ms; flame temperature rises 749 °C. Micron-sized Al/I 2 O 5 thermite exhibits inferior ignition performance and low combustion efficiency due to the dense Al 2 O 3 passivation layer, which restricts the interfacial contact between Al and the oxidizer. Herein, a synergistic dual strategy combining oxalic acid surface etching (0.3 mol·L −1 ) of micron Al powder and MoO 3 incorporation is proposed to fabricate Al/I 2 O 5 @MoO 3 ternary thermite. Acid etching constructs uniform porous surface structures and substantially enlarges the Al-oxidizer contact area while maintaining a high active Al content. The introduced MoO 3 triggers a low-temperature exothermic reaction with Al at ∼380 °C, which preheats the thermite system and facilitates subsequent I 2 O 5 decomposition, as well as the high-temperature Mo-I 2 reaction at ∼1000 °C. Benefiting from the synergistic effects, the optimized thermite achieves a maximum activation energy reduction of 106 kJ·mol −1 , an ignition delay time reduction of up to 170 ms, and a flame temperature increase of 749 °C. The optimal MoO 3 mass fraction in the oxidizer is determined to be 0.1–0.2, while excessive MoO 3 induces combustion instability. This work provides mechanistic insights and practical guidelines for the design of high-performance Al/I 2 O 5 -based thermites via synergistic surface engineering and oxidizer modulation. Traditional zirconia (ZrO 2 ) fibers suffer from severe limitations in mechanical performance under extreme conditions due to high-temperature phase transformation-induced cracking, abnormal grain growth, and inherent brittleness, making it difficult to meet the stringent requirements of fields such as aerospace and energy systems. This work proposes an innovative fabrication strategy that successfully achieves in-situ growth of an amorphous carbon coating layer on the surface of Al/Y co-doped ZrO 2 nanofibers through electrospinning and hot-stretching processes. In this work, zirconium acetate acts as both zirconium source and solvent, simplifying precursor preparation. The hot-stretching process utilizes the micropores on the fiber surface to form an in-situ amorphous carbon layer, which significantly enhances the mechanical properties of the fibers: tensile strength reaches 8.08 MPa, and the fiber membrane maintains structural integrity after 500 bending cycles at 80% strain, demonstrating excellent fatigue resistance and elastic recovery capability; it also exhibits outstanding thermal shock resistance at extremely low (-196°C) and ultra-high (1350°C) temperatures. Through the key innovation of introducing an amorphous carbon layer via hot-stretching, this work successfully integrates high strength, superior flexibility, and outstanding fatigue resistance into ZrO 2 fibers. Furthermore, owing to its high porosity (92%), the fiber membrane exhibits ultra-low thermal conductivity and effective sound absorption. Ultimately, this provides a reliable solution for multifunctional ceramic fiber materials applied in high-temperature environments (up to 800°C).

Microemulsion-enabled interfacial design with graphene oxide incorporation and polycarboxylate intercalation. • Sulfate-tolerant design enables lithium recovery from natural sulfate-rich salt-lake brines. • Integrated experiments and DFT/MDsimulations reveal cooperative Li + selectivity. • Column operation demonstrates stable, environmentally benign brine treatment. Adsorption-based lithium extraction provides a convenient, efficient, and environmentally friendly route for recovering lithium from liquid resources. Among existing materials, aluminum-based adsorbents are the only systems that have achieved industrial-scale deployment; however, they still suffer from insufficient lithium uptake and structural deactivation during long-term dynamic cycles in sulfate-type salt-lake brines. To address these limitations, a dual-modified lithium–aluminum layered double hydroxide (PGLH) was synthesized via microemulsion-assisted coprecipitation.Structural characterization and computational analyses reveal that the intercalation of polycarboxylates within the interlayer galleries, coupled with graphene oxide (GO) surface modification, synergistically reinforces the layered framework and enhances Li + selectivity. In gradient-concentration real sulfate-type brines, PGLH delivers a lithium adsorption capacity of 17.8 mg·g −1 . Sulfate resistance experiments and molecular dynamics simulations demonstrated a 260% increase in lithium uptake compared to unmodified adsorbents, along with 96.1% capacity retention after fifty cycles, which is attributed to steric hindrance and electrostatic repulsion that effectively suppress sulfate intercalation. Continuous-flow column tests further verified the material's durability, achieving more than tenfold Li + enrichment and reducing the Mg/Li ratio from 2938:1 to 10:1. These findings provide mechanistic insights and design guidelines for developing robust, selective Al-based lithium adsorbents suitable for sulfate-rich brines. A polycarboxylate and graphene oxide co-modified layered alumina adsorbent (PGLH) was synthesized via a microemulsion-assisted method. Interlayer engineering and surface modification synergistically enhanced Li + selectivity in authentic sulfate-rich brines. Structural characterization, adsorption tests, and DFT/MD simulations demonstrate that interfacial modification stabilizes the layered structure and tunes competitive anion sorption, providing mechanistic insight into selective lithium recovery from complex multi-ion environments. Although the availability of many nickel-based sulfides oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalysts with excellent intrinsic activity, very few of them perform well in anion exchange membrane water electrolysis (AEMWE). Their poor stability remains the core challenge in large-scale alkaline water electrolysis. In this work, the use of amorphous FeOOH nanoparticles is proposed as a modifier of Al doped Ni 3 S 2 (FeOOH/NiAlS) to develop robust OER electrode suitable for AEMWE. Under operation conditions, FeOOH protect the bulk sulfides from further corrosion, in turn effectively improves the catalyst utilization due to highly conductive property. Meanwhile, surface reconstructed Al-NiFeOOH serves as the actual active phase, monitored by in situ Raman and EIS. Density functional theory (DFT) reveals that Fe doping optimize their adsorption property, elongates the Ni O bond, and act as a new active site to augment OER activity. Specifically, the reconstructed FeOOH/NiAlS shows an ultra-low overpotential of 316 mV at 1 A cm −2 and high stability at 0.5 A cm −2 over 400 h. The corresponding AEMWE requires a cell voltage of only 1.72 V to reach 1 A cm −2 , while maintaining stable operation for 1400 h at 0.5 A cm −2 , providing a promising prospect for practical applications.
