Carbendazim (CBZ) abuse always causes the over-standard of pesticide residues in agricultural products, which has adverse effects on human health. Herein, a novel electrochemical sensor was firstly fabricated based on the β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) functionalized carbon nanosheets@carbon nanotubes (CNS@CNT) for the CBZ determination. CNS@CNT combined large surface area of CNS and excellent electrical conductivity of CNT, which significantly enhanced the electrocatalytic performance. Moreover, β-CD possessed excellent host-gest supramolecular recognition ability, which could improve the selective recognition and enrichment capability of CBZ. Thanks to the synergistic interaction of CNS@CNT and β-CD, the β-CD/CNS@CNT/GCE sensor exhibited a low limit of detection of 9.4 nM in the linear CBZ concentration range of 0.03–30 μM. The fabricated sensor presented favorable stability, high sensitivity (30.86 μA μM −1 cm −2 ), and reliable reproducibility (RSD = 3.6%). Especially, the β-CD/CNS@CNT/GCE sensor could show pretty practical feasibility for the detection of CBZ in apple juice with recoveries of 97.1%-99.4%.

A novel fluorescence application for simultaneous determination of two common fungicide pesticides (carbendazim and chlorothalonil) in peanut oil is presented. Using the strategy of combining excitation-emission matrix (EEM) fluorescence with three-way calibration methods , the proposed approach successfully achieved quantitative analysis of carbendazim and chlorothalonil pesticide residues in peanut oil, even with highly overlapped spectra. It needs little preparation, using “mathematical separation” instead of “analytical separation” to achieve concentration prediction of target analytes in complex systems. Each analyte was performed using fluorescence spectroscopy after instrument spectral correction and scatter removal. Then the data were modeled with two three-way calibration algorithms, including alternating trilinear decomposition (ATLD) and alternating penalty trilinear decomposition (APTLD). The results indicated that APTLD performed slightly better than ATLD for this system. The carbendazim and chlorothalonil can be recognized simultaneously with the correlation coefficients all above 0.96 between resolved spectra and actual spectra. Satisfactory results have been achieved with the average recoveries (mean ± standard deviation) of carbendazim and chlorothalonil being 100.2 ± 6.7% and 99.7 ± 6.7%, respectively. Moreover, as for carbendazim and chlorothalonil, the sensitivity (SENs) are 1.50 × 10 2 and 3.80 × 10 2 mL ng −1 , the limits of detection (LODs) are 11 ng mL −1 and 4.3 ng mL −1 , the limit of quantitation (LOQ) are 33.33 ng mL −1 and 13.03 ng mL −1 , respectively. The above results demonstrated that the proposed method is sensitive, fast and accurate for direct quantitative analysis of multiple pesticide residues in complex matrix such as that of peanut oil.

Fungicide carbendazim accumulation in soils and plants is a wide concern. Nitrogen (N) is a substantial nutrient limiting crop growth and affecting soil microbial activity and the community in degrading fungicides. We investigated the effects of urea-hydrogen peroxide (UHP) and nitrification inhibitors Dicyandiamide (DCD) and 3,4-dimethylpyrazole phosphate (DMPP) on carbendazim accumulation and soil and endophytic microbial communities. The UHP application had negligible influences on soil and plant carbendazim accumulation, but the combined UHP and DCD decreased soil carbendazim accumulation by 5.31% and the combined UHP and DMPP decreased plant carbendazim accumulation by 44.36%. The combined UHP and nitrification inhibitor significantly decreased the ratios of soil Firmicutes and endophytic Ascomycota. Soil microbial community assembly was governed by the stochastic process, while the stochastic and deterministic processes governed the endophyte. Our findings could provide considerable methods to reduce fungicide accumulation in soil–plant systems with agricultural N management strategies.

The development of precise and efficient analysis technologies for acetamiprid (ACE) and carbendazim (CBZ) is of paramount importance for safeguarding the environment, ensuring food safety and protecting human health. In this study, we present a novel dual-channel fluorescent sensing system for the detection ACE and CBZ. This system integrates photoswitchable polymer dots (Pdots) and carbon dots (CDs) with aptamers and Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles. Specifically, when irradiated with 465 nm excitation light, only the Pdots probe emits a fluorescent signal. Conversely, when irradiated with 354 nm excitation light, the Pdots probe's fluorescence is quenched, and only the CDs probe emits a signal. This innovative design eliminates interference between the fluorescent probes, thereby enhancing the accuracy and sensitivity of the detection method. Based on competitive binding between the target analytes and the complementary strands (cDNA) immobilized on magnetic Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles with the fluorescent probes, the sensing system exhibited linear detection ranges of 1–100 ng/mL, with LODs of 0.33 ng/mL for ACE and 0.40 ng/mL for CBZ. We successfully applied this method to the analysis of ACE and CBZ in tap water, apple, and cucumber samples, achieving recoveries of 96.09 %–108.17 % and 94.59 %–109.09 %, respectively. This approach offers a highly promising tool for environmental monitoring and food safety analysis, significantly enhancing the capacity to monitor and manage potential health risks associated with these compounds.

Carbendazim (CBZ), a kind of widely used pesticide, is harmful to human health and environmental ecology. Therefore, it is of great importance to detect CBZ in real samples. Herein we report the stable growth of vertically-ordered mesoporous silica films (VMSF) on the glassy carbon electrode (GCE) using boron nitride-reduced graphene oxide (BN-rGO) nanocomposite as an adhesive and electroactive layer. Oxygen-containing groups of rGO and 2D planar structure of BN-rGO hybrid favor the stable growth of VMSF via the electrochemically assisted self-assembly (EASA) method. Combining the good electrocatalytic activity of BN-rGO and the enrichment effect of VMSF, the proposed VMSF/BN-rGO/GCE can detect CBZ with high sensitivity (3.70 μA/μM), a wide linear range (5 nM–7 μM) and a low limit of detection (2 nM). Furthermore, due to the inherent anti-fouling and anti-interference capacity of VMSF, direct and rapid electrochemical analyses of CBZ in pond water and grape juice samples are also achieved without the use of complicated sample treatment processes.

Carbendazim (CBZ) is a widely used pesticides, and its excessive intake is serious damage to humans and animals. Herein, a stable and sensitive colorimetric aptasensor for rapid detection of CBZ residue has been established based on the enhancement of CBZ-specific aptamer (CZ-13) on oxidase-mimicking activity of octahedral Ag 2 O nanoparticles (NPs). The CZ-13 aptamer can significantly increase the catalytic activity by promoting the production of superoxide anion (·O 2 − ) on the surface of Ag 2 O NPs and enhancing the affinity of octahedral Ag 2 O NPs to 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) molecules. In the presence of CBZ, the quantity of CZ-13 aptamer will be exhausted due to the specific binding to CBZ pesticide. Thus, the rest CZ-13 aptamer no longer enhanced the catalytic activity of octahedral Ag 2 O NPs, which leads to the change in color of sensing solution. The color change of sensing solution can be easily converted to the corresponding RGB value by a smartphone for quantitative and rapid detection of CBZ. The designed aptasensor has excellent sensitivity and specificity, and the limit of detection was determined as low as 7.35 μg L −1 for CBZ assay. Besides, the aptasensor exhibited good recoveries in the spiked cabbage, apple and cucumber, showing that it may have broad application prospects for detecting CBZ residues in agriculture products.

Carbendazim (CBZ) was widest used in agriculture for its high efficiency in controlling of fungal diseases. However, CBZ can pose serious contamination to agricultural products and water resource for its long half-lives and high toxicity. Therefore, precise detection of CBZ residues is very important for human health and environmental safety concerns. Nevertheless, the inherent electrode fouling effect caused by CBZ products hinders the precise and practical determination of CBZ. Herein, a novel highly antifouling heterostructure based on carboxylated multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT-COOH) functionalized black phosphorus (BP) have been successfully developed via a facile sonication assisted self-assembly method. The electrochemical interface of BP/MWCNT-COOH modified glassy carbon electrode shows excellent catalytic activity to CBZ oxidation and good electrode antifouling effect, ensuring repeatable and precise detection of CBZ. In addition, the sensor shows a wide linearity from 9.0 nM to 1000 nM with a detection limit of 4.0 nM which superior to most of previous work. Moreover, the BP-based non-enzymatic sensor shows good selectivity and satisfactory recoveries for real sample analysis, confirming its highly practical application. The antifouling mechanism to CBZ for the sensor and the interaction mechanism between MWCNTs-COOH and BP were also illustrated by theory calculations.

Herein, a facile ultrasonic-assisted strategy was developed to fabricate the hybrid conductive networks of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SCT)/single-walled carbon nanohorns (SCH) integrated with stellate mesoporous silica nanospheres (SSP), which were utilized to construct an ultrasensitive carbendazim (CBZ) electrochemical sensing platform. SCT with unique one-dimensional quantum wire effect substantially expedited electron transfer kinetics. SCH exhibited an aggregated nanohorn morphology, endowing high purity, large surface area, open structure for small molecule diffusion, and abundant defects for high reactivity. Combined with SCT, SCH established interconnected three-dimensional conductive networks. SSP possessed good monodispersity and complex interconnected pores with substantial volume, facilitating selective the adsorption of CBZ. The SCT/SCH/SSP/GCE enabled the precise electrochemical detection of CBZ with LOD of 9.61 nM across a concentration range of 0.01–25 μM. The fabricated sensing platform demonstrated acceptable CBZ quantitative performance in food sample analysis, achieving the acceptable recoveries of 97.13–102.72% (RSD: 0.99–4.78%).

High fluorescence intensity microspheres such as aggregation-induced emission fluorescence microspheres (AIEFM) have improved the sensitivity of lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA). The preparation of immune probes in LFIA usually adopts the chemical coupling strategy with 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl) carbodiimide for antibody coupling, which has the problems of low coupling efficiency, tedious coupling process, and poor repeatability. A biocompatible metal-phenolic network (MPN), which contains large amounts of phenols and galloyl groups, could easily, quickly, and stably couple with antibodies. Herein, we proposed a strategy based on MPN modification on ultrabright AIEFM surface as a novel label for the rapid detection of carbendazim. The limit of detection of AIEFM@MPN-LFIA was 0.019 ng/mL, which was 4.9 times lower than that of AIEFM-LFIA. In spiked samples, the average recoveries of AIEFM@MPN-LFIA ranged from 80% to 118% (coefficient of variation <13.45%). Therefore, AIEFM@MPN was a promising signal label that could improve the detection performance of LFIA.

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) imaging coupling with multivariate analysis in spectral region of 200 to 1800 cm −1 was developed to quantify and visualize thiophanate-methyl (TM) and its metabolite carbendazim residues in red bell pepper ( Capsicum annuum L.). Least squares support vector machines (LS-SVM) and support vector machines (SVM) models based on seven optimized characteristic peaks that showed SERS effects of TM and its metabolite carbendazim residues were employed to establish prediction models. SERS spectra with first derivative (1st) and second derivative (2nd) method were subsequently compared and the optimized model of 1st-LS-SVM acquired showed the best performance (RPD = 6.08, R 2 P = 0.986 and RMSEP = 0.473). The results demonstrated that SERS imaging with multivariate analysis had the potential for rapid determination and visualization of the trace TM and its metabolite carbendazim residues in complex food matrices.

This study reports the carbendazim (CBZ) detecting capability of spinel cobaltite MnCo 2 O 4 (MCO) synthesized via a microwave-assisted hydrothermal approach. The MCO-modified screen-printed electrode (MCO/SPE) exhibited excellent electrocatalytic activity toward CBZ oxidation. As a result, the proposed sensor enables sensitive CBZ detection over two distinct linear ranges (0.05–5 μM and 25–500 μM), with a low detection limit of 0.02 μM and a high sensitivity of 6.46 μA μM −1 cm −2 . The enhanced sensing performance is attributed to the synergistic redox activity of Co 2+ /Co 3+ and Mn 2+ /Mn 3+ couples, which enhance both electrical conductivity and catalytic activity, together with the nanorod morphology that promotes efficient diffusion of CBZ molecules and electrolyte species. The applicability of the MCO/SPE was further validated through effective CBZ detection in fruit and vegetable samples as compared with the liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method, showing strong potential for food safety monitoring.

In this study, the new and efficient three-dimensional network porous aromatic frameworks materials called Silica-PAFs-a, Florisil-PAFs-a, Silica-PAFs-b, and Florisil-PAFs-b were first synthesized. The properties of materials were analyzed by five characterization methods. The materials were used as adsorbents in pipette-tip solid-phase extraction for the effective determination of carbendazim and thiabendazole in spinach sample. Meanwhile, the obtained materials were tested by static adsorption and dynamic adsorption. The result showed that the specific surface area of materials greatly increased after introducing three-dimensional network porous aromatic frameworks. Microstructural modification exposed a large number of amino reactive groups that made them have a better adsorption amount for the two targets. The calibration graphs of carbendazim and thiabendazole in methanol were linear over 0.10–300.0 µg/mL, and the limits of detection and quantification were 0.00546 and 0.0182 µg/mL, and 0.00741 and 0.0247µg/mL respectively. A reliable analytical method was developed for recognition targets in spinach sample by Silica-PAFs-b with satisfactory extraction recoveries (96.25 and 100.51%). The proposed method using the material was applied for trace analysis of the carbendazim and thiabendazole residue.
