Apo CII activates lipoprotein lipase which then hydrolyzes VLDL triglyceride to form IDL (intermediate density lipoproteins). The concentration of Apo CII in normal plasma is 3-8 mg per 100 ml.
Prepared from fresh, non-frozen plasma shown to be non reactive for HBsAg, anti-HCV, anti-HBc, and negative for anti-HIV 1 & 2 by FDA approved tests.
Component of chylomicrons, very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL), low-density lipoproteins (LDL), and high-density lipoproteins (HDL) in plasma. Plays an important role in lipoprotein metabolism as an activator of lipoprotein lipase. Both proapolipoprotein C-II and apolipoprotein C-II can activate lipoprotein lipase. In normolipidemic individuals, it is mainly distributed in the HDL, whereas in hypertriglyceridemic individuals, predominantly found in the VLDL and LDL.
Post-translational: Proapolipoprotein C-II is synthesized as a sialic acid containing glycoprotein which is subsequently desialylated prior to its proteolytic processing. Proapolipoprotein C-II, the major form found in plasma undergoes proteolytic cleavage of its N-terminal hexapeptide to generate apolipoprotein C-II, which occurs as the minor form in plasma.

Aftercentrifugation, we suggest re-addition of lyophilization buffer (10 mM NH4HCO3, pH 7.4) to the original volume (See COA), followed by gentle mixing to ensure adequate homogenization. If further dilution is required, please use the lyophilization buffer.
