白色结晶或结晶性粉末,遇微量铁时即变粉红色结晶体,高温时分解为酚和水杨酸。能溶于乙醚,易溶于水和乙醇。脑脊液检验,测定尿中蛋白,比色分析测定高铁离子、测定铝、铍、钙、铬、铜、铁、铅、镁等金属络合剂、分析希土金属锌,测定钢铁原材料、铁矿石、煤焦等。电泳级用于PAGE, SDS-PAGE 和 IEF电泳中的蛋白的固定液。一般为12%三氯乙酸溶液
