GR催化GSSG与NADPH反应生成GSH，GSH与5,5 ' -二硫代-双-（2-硝基苯甲酸）（5,5 ' -Dithiobis-2-Nitrobenoic Acid，DTNB）反应生成黄色的2-硝基-5-巯基苯甲酸，产物在412 nm处具有特征吸收峰，通过吸光值变化即可表征谷胱甘肽还原酶活性系数水平。
GR catalyzes the reaction of GSSG with NADPH to generate GSH. GSH then reacts with 5,5'-dithiobis-2-nitrobenzoic acid (DTNB) to form yellow 2-nitro-5-mercaptobenzoic acid (TNB), which exhibits a characteristic absorbance peak at 412 nm. By measuring the change in absorbance at this wavelength, the glutathione reductase activity coefficient level can be determined.
