Antibiotics have emerged as a class of contaminants of concern globally, raising widespread worry and unease, primarily because of their inappropriately use and endless migration in food chains. Electrochemical ultrasensitive and selective determination of norfloxacin (NOR) using bismuth-based bimetallic salt bismuth molybdate (Bi 2 MoO 6 ) and carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNTs-COOH) hybrid electrode as sensing platforms is presented hereby. The electrocatalytic ability of the electrodes was verified to be enhanced by the synergy effect of both Bi 2 MoO 6 and MWCNTs-COOH using cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Linear scan voltammetry was applied to detect NOR. The oxidation peak current was linearly correlated with NOR concentration of 0.03–10 μM and the low limit detection of the optimized method was 6.7 nM (S/N = 3). In addition, it was verified that Bi 2 MoO 6 /MWCNTs-COOH/GCE probe had good stability, reproducibility, repeatability and selectivity. The spiked recovery method for NOR in milk and lake water samples showed recoveries of 94.8 – 96.9% and 90.2 – 98.3%, respectively, which can be used to determine NOR in real samples with high sensitivity. The preparation of Bi 2 MoO 6 /MWCNTs-COOH/GCE provides a new prototype for probing NOR detection at nanomolar concentration and safeguarding antibiotic contamination in environmental and food chains.

In this study, two kinds of ordered mesoporous carbon (OMC) were used as modified electrode materials for fabrication electrochemical sensors (ECSs). CMK-8 and CMK-3 of mesoporous structures own large specific surface areas of 519.5 m 2 /g and 285.0 m 2 /g, respectively. The ECSs displayed excellent catalytic performance toward to the electrochemical reduction of carbadox (CBX). 390-Fold and 15-fold of peak current increase can be obtained from CMK-8/GE and CMK-3/GE modified electrodes, respectively, as compared with bare gold electrode. Under optimum conditions, the CMK-8/GE exhibited a wide linear range (0.5 nM to 500 nM) and extremely low detection limit of about 74 pM for detection of CBX. However, the CMK-3/GE exhibited a wide linear range (100 nM to 5000 nM) and excellent detection limit of about 12 nM. The ECS has succeeded in the electrochemical determination of CBX in spikes. The study dedicates that CMK-8 has more excellent electro-catalytic performance than CMK-3 for electro-catalysis of CBX.

As an oral prodrug, valacyclovir undergoes rapid in vivo hydrolysis to form acyclovir - an agent with antiviral properties. This compound is extensively employed in addressing herpes virus infections and various other related conditions. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop a method for detecting the content of valacyclovir in drugs. In this study, molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2 ) and carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs-COOH) were ultrasonically dispersed to prepare a suspension, which was drop-coated on the surface of a pretreated glassy carbon electrode (GCE). A MoS 2 /MWCNTs-COOH/GCE sensing platform was successfully constructed for the ultrasensitive detection of valacyclovir. Under optimized conditions, cyclic voltammetry (CV) was used to detect valacyclovir. A strong linear correlation between the oxidation peak current and the concentration was observed within the range of 0.1–40.0 μM, with a detection limit (LOD) of 0.013 μM. Meanwhile, the sensing platform also demonstrated excellent anti-interference capability, stability, and reproducibility. In the analysis of real samples, satisfactory recoveries for valacyclovir (96.5–104.0%) were achieved with a relative standard deviation (RSD) below 5.0%, further confirming its reliability. In summary, the developed MoS 2 /MWCNTs-COOH/GCE sensor offers a promising approach for the highly sensitive detection of valacyclovir.

The multi-walled carbon nanotubes decorated with Co 3 O 4 nanoparticles (Co 3 O 4 /MWCNTs) were successfully prepared by the hydrothermal method . A facile and practical electrochemical sensor based on Co 3 O 4 /MWCNTs was established for simultaneous detection of hydroquinone (HQ) and catechol (CC) by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The defined and separated oxidation peaks of a mixture of HQ and CC were obtained at pH 8.0, owing to the catalytic stability of Co 3 O 4 in alkaline conditions as well as the high conductivity and excellent adsorption of MWCNTs. The proposed sensor exhibited the wide linear range from 10 to 800 μM (HQ) and 10–700 μM (CC), as well as the low detection limit of 5.6 μM (HQ) and 8.5 μM (CC). Meaningfully, in local seawater sample testing, the explored sensing platform achieved an excellent recovery for the simultaneous detection of CC (97.5–104.2%) and HQ (96.4–109.1%). According to the investigation, this is the first successful application of HQ and CC in direct seawater detection. This work demonstrated the Co 3 O 4 /MWCNTs nanocomposite was a promising material for electro-catalysis and electro-analyst in the marine environment.

In this paper, an electrochemical sensor based on depositing acid chrome blue K on the surface of glassy carbon electrode was developed for detection of nitrofurazone. The obtained poly-ACBK film was characterised by atomic force microscope. The experimental results indicated that the Poly-ACBK/GCE showed good electrocatalytic activity to the redox reactions of nitrofurazone by differential pulse voltammetry and cyclic voltammetry in Britton-Robinson buffer solution, and the different redox peak currents were observed in different pH ranges (2.0–6.0, 7.0–12.0). Base on these, electrochemical reaction mechanism of nitrofurazone was presented in different pH ranges. Under the optimal conditions, a linear relationship between the reduction peak currents and concentrations for nitrofurazone is figured out in the range of 0.75‒192 μM, with detection limits of 0.25 µM (S/N = 3). This sensor produced satisfactory reproducibility and stability and was successfully applied to monitor of nitrofurazone in real samples (nasal drops).

Abstract Au/XC-72 nanoparticles prepared via microwave-assisted polyol processes were used as the active materials for methimazole detection. The Au/XC-72 modified electrode shows an excellent catalytic activity toward oxidation of methimazole, the cyclic voltammetry of methimazole displays two pairs of well-defined, quasi-reversible redox peaks. The oxidation of methimazole on Au/XC-72 modified electrode is a diffusion-controlled and a one-electron transfer process. The fixed-potential amperometry technique was used for the determination of methimazole and a linear dependence of anodic current on methimazole concentration was obtained in the range of 19.9–100.91 μM.

Transition-metal nanomaterials are very important to non-enzymatic glucose sensing because of their excellent electrocatalytic ability, good selectivity, the fact that they are not easily interfered with by chloride ion (Cl−), and low cost. However, the linear detection range needs to be expanded. In this paper, Cu2O–bovine serum albumin (BSA) core-shell nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized for the first time in air at room temperature by a facile and green route. The structure and morphology of Cu2O–BSA NPs were characterized. The as-prepared Cu2O–BSA NPs were used to modify the glassy carbon electrode (GCE) in a Nafion matrix. By using cyclic voltammetry (CV), the influence from scanning speed, concentration of NaOH, and load of Cu2O–BSA NPs for the modified electrodes was probed. Cu2O–BSA NPs showed direct electrocatalytic activity for the oxidation of glucose in 50 mM NaOH solution at 0.6 V. The chronoamperometry result showed this constructing sensor in the detection of glucose with a lowest detection limit of 0.4 μM, a linear detection range up to 10 mM, a high sensitivity of 1144.81 μAmM−1cm−2and reliable anti-interference property to Cl−, uric acid (UA), ascorbic acid (AA), and acetaminophen (AP). Cu2O–BSA NPs are promising nanostructures for the fabrication of non-enzymatic glucose electrochemical sensing devices.Keywords:Cu2O–BSA nanoparticles;non-enzymatic glucose sensing;cyclic voltammetry;chronoamperometry;anti-interference

A nanocomposite of 5,10,15,20-tetrakis (N-methylpyridinium-4-yl) porphyrin cobalt (III) (CoTMPyP) and titanium oxide (Ti 4 O 9 2− ) nanosheets was constructed using a stripping/self-assembly method for the first time. The morphology, structure, and composition of CoTMPyP/Ti 4 O 9 2− were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) techniques were utilized to analyze the electrochemical properties and detect uric acid (UA), guanine (G), and adenine (A). Under optimized conditions (0.1 M phosphate buffer, pH 4.0), the CoTMPyP/Ti 4 O 9 2− modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) enabled simultaneous detection of UA, G, and A with detection limits of 396, 59, and 47 nM, respectively (S/N = 3). The linear detection ranges were 0.31–16.99 μM for UA, and 0.12–4.02 μM for both G and A. The stability and anti-interference ability of the CoTMPyP/Ti 4 O 9 2− /GCE sensor were also examined. Further tests in serum samples demonstrated recoveries of 98.1–109.7 % for the biomolecules, with relative standard deviations of 0.8–6.2 %. These results indicate excellent performance of the nanocomposite sensor for electrochemical detection.

Chloramphenicol (CAP) has demonstrated favorable therapeutic effects against various bacteria and is widely utilized in the aquaculture industry. However, CAP has recently been classified as a carcinogen, emphasizing the importance of developing effective methods to monitor its concentration. In this study, one-dimensional/two-dimensional (1D/2D) SnO 2 /reduced graphene oxide (rGO) composites were employed to modify a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) for the electrochemical detection of CAP. The SnO 2 /rGO composite materials were synthesized via a solution reaction and calcination method. Optimal electrochemical sensing conditions, including pH values, scan rates, and accumulation parameters, were systematically investigated to demonstrate feasibility. The resulting SnO 2 /rGO/GCE achieved a current density of 154.56 µA/cm², up to 75 times higher than other modified electrodes. Furthermore, the SnO 2 /rGO/GCE exhibited a strong linear relationship within a detection range of 0.001–100 μM and an excellent limit of detection of 0.315 nM for CAP. Finally, the electrodes with optimized modifications were successfully applied to determine CAP concentrations in real lake water and milk samples. These promising results suggest that the as-fabricated SnO 2 /rGO electrode presents a novel and highly effective approach for CAP detection.

Oxygenated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (OPAHs) present in the environment can enter the skin through direct contact and long-term exposure can increase the risk of skin inflammation, allergic reactions and skin cancer. In this study, a titanium dioxide-two-dimensional transition metal carbide/multi-walled carbon nanotubes/polydopamine/glassy carbon electrode (TiO 2 -MXene/MWCNTs/PDA/GCE) electrochemical biosensor was prepared to evaluate the cytotoxicity of OPAHs based on the changes in the content of xanthine/guanine (X/G) during cellular metabolism. The TiO 2 -MXene/MWCNTs/PDA/GCE exhibited excellent electrocatalytic activity and sensitivity. The surface morphology, structure and electrochemical properties of TiO 2 -MXene/MWCNTs/PDA composite material were characterized using scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and cyclic voltammetry. Human skin fibroblast cells (HFF-1) were used as model cells, and the cell viability was evaluated based on the electrochemical signal changes of X/G. When exposed to OPAHs for 30 h, the half-maximal inhibitory concentrations (IC 50 ) of 1,4-benzoquinone (1,4-BQ), 1,2-naphthoquinone (1,2-NQ), and 9,10-phenanthrenequinone (9,10-PQ) on HFF-1 cells were 291.88, 67.72, and 4.44 µmol·L −1 , respectively, which were lower than the IC 50 values of 1075.51, 113.96, and 9.63 µmol·L −1 obtained using the traditional MTT assay, indicating higher sensitivity of the sensor. This study achieved sensitive detection of purines in HFF-1 cells, providing a technical method for evaluating the cytotoxicity of persistent organic pollutants OPAHs in the environment.

Acyclovir (Acyclovir, ACV) is an antiviral drug which, despite its favorable safety profile, can have systemic adverse effects, following improper use. This study prepared a clay-like two-dimensional transition metal carbide Ti 3 C 2 by etching Ti 3 AlC 2 with LiF and HCl. Carboxylated multi walled carbon nanotubes (Carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes , MWCNTs-COOH) were combined with Ti 3 C 2 using chitosan (Chitosan, CS) as solvent and ultrasonic treatment . The nanocomposite was then modified onto the surface of a glassy carbon electrode (Glassy carbon electrode, GCE) to develop an electrochemical sensor for the detection of ACV. The Ti 3 C 2 -CS-MWCNTs-COOH/GCE nanocomposite was characterized by X-ray diffractometry (X-ray diffractometry, XRD), scanning electron microscope (Scanning electron microscope,SEM), and cyclic voltammetry (Cyclic voltammetry,CV), as well as the electrochemical impedance method (Electrochemical impedance,EIS). The successful preparation of Ti 3 C 2 -CS-MWCNTs-COOH, and the good electrochemical performance of the electrode were verified. Linear scanning voltammetry (Linear scan voltammetry,LSV) was used to quantify the ACV. The linear range of the method is wider than other works (0.05 ∼ 20.0 and 20.0 ∼ 500.0 μM), with a low detection limit (0.088 μM). The sensor achieves sensitive detection of ACV and can be used for the analysis of ACV in pharmaceutical and urine dosage forms , with recoveries of 95.5∼97.6% and 95.6∼97.5%, respectively. For the first time, this sensor utilizes clay-like Ti 3 C 2 with a larger specific surface area in combination with MWCNTs-COOH for ACV detection, which exhibits excellent immunity to interference, repeatability, reproducibility, and stability. This method provides a rapid and sensitive method for the determination of ACV, and lays foundations for developing miniaturized field rapid test detectors.

A novel label-free electrochemical aptasensor was fabricated based on a three-dimensional porous electrode (3D-CS/rGO/GCE) for the detection of acetamiprid residues. The sensing signal was generated by the DNA itself. The porous electrode was prepared by electrodeposition in situ and characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). These results indicated that the porous electrode has a uniform nanoporous structure, high active area, and excellent conductivity , leading to improve the transmission efficiency of current signals. The 3D-CS/rGO/GCE was used to increase a load of acetamiprid aptamer on the electrode. Meanwhile, DNA self-assembly strategy was used to further increase the DNA amounts. Thus the electrochemical current was amplified significantly due to increased phosphate group amounts by the above synergistic effect . The determination of acetamiprid residues using square wave voltammetry (SWV) showed good sensitivity, with the linear range from 0.1 pM to 0.1 μM and the detection limit was 71.2 fM. The label-free electrochemical aptasensor was also used to detect acetamiprid residues in tea samples with satisfactory results.
