The low carrier mobility of BiVO4 is a bottleneck that limits its charge transfer in bulk or on the surface. Herein, reduced graphene oxide (rGO) nanosheets as an effective electron mediator were successfully loaded on BiVO4 and NiFe-layered double hydroxides (NiFe-LDHs) were decorated on BiVO4/rGO heterojunctions by two facile electrodeposition methods to construct a triadic photoanode of BiVO4/rGO/NiFe-LDH for improvement of photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting efficiency of BiVO4. This photoanode significantly extends the absorption region of visible light, increases the photocurrent density, exhibits an onset potential with a significant cathodic shift, and enhances photon-to-electron conversion efficiency (IPCE) compared with the pristine BiVO4 photoanode. The enhancement of PEC properties benefits from the formation of p–n heterojunctions between rGO and BiVO4 and the use of NiFe-LDH as a cocatalyst for accelerating the kinetics of oxygen evolution from water.

Cobalt ferrite/reduced graphene oxide (CoFe 2 O 4 /RGO) nanocomposites were initially prepared by the interaction of alkyne-functionalized CoFe 2 O 4 NPs and azide-functionalized graphene oxide (GO–N 3 ) via the Cu (I)-catalyzed click reaction. The morphology and structure of CoFe 2 O 4 /RGO were investigated by means of XRD, FTIR, TGA, TEM, SEM and the electromagnetic parameters were measured by vector network analyzer. For CoFe 2 O 4 /RGO composites with click reaction, the minimum reflection loss could reach −40 dB at 6.8 GHz with a matching thickness of 4.0 mm, and also it had a bandwidth below −10 dB ranging from 5.8 to 8.5 GHz. The CoFe 2 O 4 /RGO composites with click reaction exhibited better microwave absorbing performance than the physical mixture. Furthermore, the covalent ligation between CoFe 2 O 4 NPs and graphene oxide could make the composites have a promising future in electromagnetic wave absorption materials.

Reduced graphene oxide (rGO) decorated TiO 2 microspheres are prepared by using the hydrothermal method . The as-synthesized sample shows that TiO 2 particles are connected by the rGO nanosheets while some TiO 2 particles are found to be partly covered by rGO sheets. The rGO-decorated TiO 2 based chemoresistive-type sensor shows good sensitivity and excellent selectivity to different concentrations of ammonia from 5 ppm to 50 ppm at room temperature . However, the response and recovery speeds of the sensor to ammonia are sluggish and need further optimization.

Reduced graphene oxide/NiO composite (RGO/NiO) was synthesized by a facile pyrolyzation process. The NiO nanoparticles with a small size of about 10–50 nm are uniformly dispersed onto the thin graphene nanosheets . The as-prepared RGO/NiO composite shows excellent microwave absorbability. The obtained composite with a coating layer thickness of 3.5 mm exhibits a maximum absorption of −55.5 dB at 10.6 GHz. And in particular, the product with a coating layer thickness of only 3.0 mm possesses a bandwidth of 6.7 GHz (from frequency of 10.2 to 16.9 GHz) corresponding to reflection loss at −10 dB (90% absorption). Thus, the as-prepared RGO/NiO composite is a very promising EM wave absorbing material as lightweight and high-performance.

A structure of hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) micelle-assisted reduced graphene oxide–Ag nanoparticle (rGO–AgNP) hybrids is designed and fabricated for SERS detection of nonpolar polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), in which CTAB micelles act as the host material to capture PAH molecules. This method provides stable aqueous suspensions of functionalized graphene with an alkyl chain, since the rGO–AgNP hybrids do not need to be pre-modified by CTAB. The result shows that the CTAB-assisted rGO–AgNP substrate has excellent SERS performance toward PAHs and ideal stability under continuous laser radiation. With further optimization, the detection limits of pyrene and perylene were 10−6 M and 10−7 M, respectively. Two different PAH molecules could be detected simultaneously by their characteristic peaks.

This study is based on the strategies of composite and element doping. Herein, P-MoS 2 /rGO materials were synthesized using a solvent-assisted hydrothermal method. The MoS 2 nanosheets were uniformly and vertically grown on rGO; meanwhile, the optimized structure of MoS 2 was achieved by P doping, resulting in improved catalytic performance and structural stability. Under alkaline conditions, the P-MoS 2 /rGO catalyst exhibits good electrocatalytic activity, demonstrating a Tafel slope of 70.7 mV dec −1 and an overpotential of 172.8 mV at 10 mA/cm 2 . Notably, even after 3000 consecutive LSV tests, the curves still show a high degree of overlap, indicating exceptional stability.

The ternary metal oxides that combine two different metal cations is an interesting candidate as sensing material based on their interesting properties. Hence, ordered dendrite InWO 4 was successfully synthesized via a hydrothermal method, followed by the construction of an InWO 4 -rGO heterojunction to enhance detection capability for triethylamine (TEA) gas. The synthesized product underwent morphology and elemental composition analysis using various techniques. Gas sensing experiments revealed that the InWO 4 -rGO gas sensor, operating at the optimal temperature of 220 ℃, displayed a significantly improved response to 100 ppm TEA, with a high value of 59.5, in comparison to the pure InWO 4 gas sensor (11.5 at 250 ℃). Additionally, the recovery time was reduced from 184 s to 122 s. Based on experimental data and gas sensing reaction theory, this study attributes the improved gas sensing performance to the formation of p-n heterojunction, a larger specific surface area and rGO's catalytic effect. This study not only introduces a novel addition to the gas sensing material family but also promotes the development of advanced gas sensors.

The breach of dielectric-magnetic properties severely impairs the impedance matching and microwave attenuation. Graphene, which possesses superior dielectric and conductive characteristics, has been recognized as a potential electromagnetic (EM) functional material. However, the lack of magnetic response undermines the dielectric-magnetic balance of graphene, eventuating the impedance mismatch and weak microwave attenuation. Modulating the EM parameters to stimulate microwave propagation and attenuation is an ingenious strategy for premium microwave attenuation materials. Herein, the controlled titration chemical reduction and annealing were engaged to facilitate the in-situ growth of Ni nanoparticles on reduced graphene oxide (rGO). The self-assembly Ni/rGO nanocomposites harbor the rich heterointerfaces and reticulum-like microporous to bridge the dielectric-magnetic gap and manipulate well-matched impedance matching. Correspondingly, the maximum reflection loss of −37.5 dB was performed at 2.0 mm, and the effective absorption bandwidth of 5 GHz was achieved within 1.6 mm. Theoretical simulation of radar cross-sectional (RCS) has been developed, and the prominent RCS reduction value of 25.68 dB·m 2 was obtained with the detection theta of 0°. This work is an exciting step forward in the potential for tailoring superior microwave absorption materials through the manipulation of the dielectric-magnetic balances.

With the continuous development of electronic products, polymers with EM shielding have received widespread attention. In this study, Fe 3 O 4 @RGO was prepared by the hydrothermal synthesis method, which solved the problems of Fe 3 O 4 precipitation and RGO stacking. Using it as a precursor, Fe 3 O 4 @RGO/PAM conductive hydrogel was prepared. The research shows that the conductivity of this hydrogel reaches 16.2 S/m at a thickness of 0.3 cm, and the maximum EMI SE is 27.1 dB. Among them, RGO can form a conductive framework, and Fe 3 O 4 can optimize the impedance matching and provide additional magnetic loss. The combined effect of the two makes the hydrogel have excellent EMI SE. In addition, PAM-based hydrogels have good thermal stability, crystallinity, water content, and mechanical properties.

The real-time and effective detection of n-butanol gas is particularly important in production and daily life due to its flammability, toxicity, and potential hazards to the environment. This article reports the preparation of hollow indium oxide spheres and rGO/In 2 O 3 composites through a simple hydrothermal and subsequent heat treatment method. Test results indicate that the gas sensitivity of n-butanol can be significantly improved through rGO composites. The prepared hollow indium oxide spheres are composed of nanosheets with a diameter of probably 500 nm. After combination by rGO, the specific surface area and the proportion of adsorbed oxygen of the material are increased, both of which are advantageous for enhancing gas sensitivity abilities. At the optimum operating temperature of 160 °C, the response value of rGO/In 2 O 3 complex sensor is 51–50 ppm of n-butanol, which is 3.6 times the response of pure In 2 O 3 . Gas sensors composed of rGO/In 2 O 3 exhibit ultra-fast response time and low detection limit. Even for ppb grade (100 ppb) n-butanol gas, the response value is still 2.3. These characteristics make rGO/In 2 O 3 a promising material for the preparation of high-performance n-butanol gas sensors. Besides, the gas-sensitive mechanism of the enhanced n-butanol sensing performances is also analyzed.
