Van der Waals (vdW) antiferromagnets hold great promise for next-generation highdensity and high-speed spintronic devices due to their unique magnetic and electronic properties. In this work, we systematically investigate the thickness-dependent spin Hall magnetoresistance in ultrathin CrPS4/Pt heterostructures. The transverse resistance exhibits a distinct spin-flop signature below the Néel temperature when the CrPS4 thickness exceeds eight layers, whereas this feature gradually vanishes in thinner samples. Remarkably, an anomalous Hall signal emerges above the Néel temperature and persists even in devices with CrPS4 as thin as three monolayers, remaining robust up to room temperature. Furthermore, angle-dependent longitudinal resistance measurements reveal that the magnitudes of both spin Hall magnetoresistance and anisotropic magnetoresistance are independent of the odd/even parity of the CrPS4 layer number. Such behavior suggests that the interfacial spin-orbital coupled scattering from the orbital hybridization between CrPS4 and Pt plays a critical role for magnetotransport phenomena. These findings provide important insights into the design and understanding of ultrathin van der Waals antiferromagnetic spintronic devices.

Abstract The rapid and accurate detection of H2S in exhaled breath at room temperature remains a critical technical challenge. Herein, we developed a Pt@ZIF-8/Cu2O heterojunction sensor via a two-dimensional electrodeposition in-situ assembly strategy for sensitive H2S detection. This sensor exhibits superior room-temperature sensing performance: a remarkably high response of 8931 toward 10 ppm of H2S, an ultralow detection limit of 10 ppb (response ∼0.61), and a 11.8-fold enhancement in response to 500 ppb H2S relative to pristine Cu2O. The exceptional sensing performance is attributed to the synergistic effects of the high-specific-surface-area structure, the catalytic activity of Pt nanoparticles, and optimized interfacial charge transfer at the heterojunction. Notably, as the relative humidity increases from 37 to 94%, the response time toward 5 ppm of H2S decreased by ∼33% (from 330 to 220 s), while the response magnitude concurrently increases by ∼117% (from 3183 to 6907). This humidity-induced performance improvement significantly enhances operational reliability in practical applications, thereby eliminating the requirement for complex humidity control systems. This unique phenomenon is associated with the [Zn–OH]+ active sites within the ZIF-8 framework, which facilitate the adsorption of H2S molecules. More importantly, the sensor enables sensitively quantification of H2S concentrations in human exhaled breath, highlighting its great potential for noninvasive disease diagnosis.

Real-time, remote monitoring of human biomarkers is essential for personalized medical diagnostics. Hydrogen sulfide (H2S), a key endogenous gas, serves as a crucial biomarker for conditions such as oral diseases. However, accurately detecting ppb-level H2S in high-humidity environments remains a challenge. Herein, we develop a Pt-loaded CrVN2 fuel cell-type H2S sensor that exhibits high humidity resistance, ultralow detection limits (50 ppb), rapid response (4 s), and exceptional selectivity. The stable electronic structure of CrVN2 ensures a consistent response across a wide relative humidity range (9%–79%). Furthermore, a wireless detection system incorporating the Pt/CrVN2 sensor was designed and validated for breath diagnosis, demonstrating its practical application in smart healthcare. This study highlights the potential of Pt/CrVN2 sensor as a promising platform for real-time, sensitive biomarker detection, contributing to the advancement of next-generation medical diagnostics.

Seawater electrolysis offers a sustainable route for large-scale, carbon-neutral hydrogen production, but its industrial application is limited by the poor efficiency and durability of current electrocatalysts under high current densities. Herein, we synthesized ultrasmall Pt nanoclusters uniformly anchored on FeCoNi phosphide nanosheet arrays, forming a composite catalyst with outstanding hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) performance in alkaline seawater. The catalyst achieves an ultralow overpotential of 17 mV at −10 mA cm−2, far surpassing commercial Pt/C, and stably delivers industrial-level current densities up to 2000 A m−2for over 2400 h with minimal voltage degradation and low energy consumption (4.16 kWh/Nm3H2). X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy revealed strong interfacial electronic interactions between Pt and Fe/Co species, involving electron transfer from Pt that modulates its electronic structure, weakens hydrogen adsorption, and enhances both HER kinetics and Pt dispersion. This work presents a scalable and robust catalyst platform, bridging the gap between laboratory research and industrial seawater electrolysis for green hydrogen production.

The dissolution of M in currently popular Pt–M alloy catalysts (M = Co, Ni, and Fe) during the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) may deter their wide application in proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). In this work, interstitial B-doping in the Pt lattice is instead used to design a durable and active ORR catalyst, by taking advantage of its unique regulation of the electronic structure of surface Pt sites. 3 nm Pt–B nanoparticles on carbon black (Pt–B/C) are obtained using dimethylamine borane (DMAB) as a reductant and the B source in a mixed H2O–ethylene glycol precursor solution. The formation of the B-doped Pt catalyst is verified by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry, X-ray diffractometry, and spherical aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy. Both half-cell and single-cell tests indicate that the as-synthesized Pt–B/C catalyst outperforms the commercial Pt/C(com) in terms of activity and durability. In particular, the Pt–B/C-based PEMFC exhibits an initial maximum power density 1.24 times as high as the Pt/C(com)-based one under otherwise same conditions, with a 15% decay for the former versus a 45% decay for the latter after 30 000 cycles of the accelerated degradation test (ADT). Comparative DFT calculations on B-doped and undoped Pt(111) surfaces reveal that the lowered Pt d-band center and the strong interaction of Pt–B bonding weaken the binding of OH and O species to surface Pt sites and lessen oxidative disruption of surface Pt atoms. This interstitial metalloid doping in conjunction with the simple and scalable synthesis protocol enables the Pt–B/C to be a competitive ORR catalyst for the PEMFCs.

Fabricating the highly dispersive and stable Pt nanoparticles (NPs) on an economical and environmentally friendly support is of great concern in the field of catalysis. Herein, a waste eggshell was used as the support to prepare supported Pt catalysts through a plant-mediated biosynthesis method, in which the Pt precursor was reduced to Pt NPs by employing Cacumen platycladi (CP) leaf extract. The temperature and atmosphere for thermal treatment of such eggshell-supported Pt catalysts were assessed to understand their effects on catalytic performance toward the oxidation of benzene. The optimal Pt/eggshell-Ar (calcined at 400 °C in Ar) demonstrated that the temperature required for 90% benzene conversion (T90%) was as low as 178 °C (80 000 mL g–1 h–1) and could operate steadily for at least 300 h of onstream reaction. The structure of the catalyst after reaction is much the same as that of the unreacted one. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), thermogravimetry (TG), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) results showed that Pt NPs were evenly distributed on the eggshell supports, and the calcination conditions had important influences on the residual CP leaf extract, the average Pt NPs size, and the ratio of Pt0/Pt2+ over the catalysts. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations indicated that the interactions between Pt NPs and porous CaCO3 could promote benzene activation adsorbed onto the Pt NPs. In addition, biogenic Pt catalysts were proved to overtake the chemically reduced counterparts in the field of catalytic performance; furthermore, both biogenic and chemically reduced Pt NPs supported on the eggshell demonstrated preferable catalytic activity than that of commercial 5Pt/C (com-Pt/C) catalysts. Collectively, immobilizing biogenic noble metal active components on the eggshell-based support could be a promising approach for the preparation of supported noble metal catalysts with excellent catalytic performance toward catalytic oxidation of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

In this paper, an amperometric gas sensor based on proton exchange membrane (Nafion) was fabricated for H 2 S detection at room temperature . Pt-Rh nanoparticles loaded on carbon fibers, as sensing electrode , was prepared by chemical reduction method, and membrane electrode assemble (MEA) was fabricated using hot-pressing method. X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) were used to analyze the structure and morphology of the fabricated electrode material. The effect of the weight ratio of Pt to Rh on the performance of the sensor was investigated and the results showed that the sensing performance was best when the ratio of Pt to Rh was 1:1. Moreover, the sensitivity had been significantly improved due to the use of carbon fibers pretreated by nitric acid, increasing from 0.158 μA/ppm to 0.191 μA/ppm. The present sensor could detect H 2 S at levels as low as 0.1 ppm with a −20 nA response and had a good linear relationship in the range of 0.1 to 200 ppm H 2 S. In addition, this amperometric H 2 S sensor displayed fast response-recovery rate as well as excellent selectivity and stability.

Photocatalytic CO 2 reduction technology is a promising new way to convert CO 2 into high value-added chemicals and fuels by sunlight. However, there are still some problems in the practical application of this technology, such as low yield, poor catalyst stability and excessive by-products. To solve these problems, TS-HF- x Pt series photocatalysts were successfully prepared by sol-gel method, HF etching process and photodeposition technology. The TS-HF-0.7Pt catalyst showed more excellent catalytic performance, and the methane yield reached 86.084 μmol·g -1 ·h -1 , which was 32.2 times that of TS-HF. The performance test shows that the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) effect of Pt significantly broadens the light absorption range, inhibits the recombination of photogenerated electron-hole pairs, reduces the charge transfer resistance, and improves the carrier utilization efficiency, thereby promoting the absorption of CO 2 . This reveals the great potential of Pt loading in improving the catalytic performance of TS-HF.

Here we report a ternary hybrid catalyst, Pt/Mo 2 CT x -rGO, for the electrocatalysis of methanol oxidation in direct methanol fuel cells. Two-dimensional Mo 2 CT x MXene was used to modify reduced graphene oxide (rGO) to obtain a hybrid of Mo 2 CT x -rGO. Thereafter, ultrafine Pt nanoparticles were dispersed on the hybrid to make a ternary catalyst of Pt/Mo 2 CT x -rGO. The electrochemical performance of the catalyst was evaluated in 1 M H 2 SO 4 and 2 M methanol electrolyte as a target analyte. Compared with commercial Pt/C, Pt/Mo 2 CT x -rGO demonstrated 1.5 times larger electrochemically active surface area, 1.9 times higher mass activity, and 33.6 % longer durability. This is because of the strong electronic interaction between Pt and Mo 2 CT x as well as the large surface area of rGO. This work reports a novel electrocatalyst with high activity and long durability for methanol oxidation, and explore a novel application of Mo 2 CT x MXene.

Lead-based Pb(Zr, Ti)O 3 ceramics have been widely applied in piezoelectric actuators, and yet high temperature stability and large strain have been pursued for further application. In this work, a novel PbZrO 3 –PbTiO 3 -(Bi 0.5 Na 0.5 )TiO 3 (PZ-PT-BNT) piezoelectric ceramic is designed and prepared by solid-state route. It is found that the introduction of BNT constituent enhances the relaxation behavior of PZ-PT ceramic, inhibits the abrupt change in dielectric properties near Curie temperature , and increases the proportion of tetragonal phase with high temperature stability. Meanwhile, the patterns of electric domains are intentionally modified by adjusting composition of PZ-PT-BNT. Short and broad electric domains in PZ-PT-0.03BNT ceramic are observed by piezoresponse force microscopy, which are insensitive to temperature and have faster response under electric field, contributing to strain characteristics. As a result, through integrating phase structure and electric domain configuration, a strain of 0.21% and excellent temperature stability where the variation of strain is less than 8% in the temperature range of 25–250 °C are achieved in PZ-PT-0.03BNT ceramic. The findings provide an effective strategy for improving the strain stability of PZ-PT-based piezoelectric ceramics, and demonstrate that PZ-PT-BNT ceramics have potential application prospects in high-temperature piezoelectric actuators.

Pt-loaded curling-like Bi 2 WO 6 (BWO) microdiscs were fabricated via a simple one-step hydrothermal and impregnation route. Various characterization methods, such as XRD, EDS and TEM, were conducted to prove the successful Pt loading. Electron migration from the semiconductor BWO to the precious metal Pt was revealed by the blue shift of the Bi 4f and W 4f XPS peaks with the increase of the Pt loading amount and the ∼10-fold baseline resistance elevation of the BWO-based sensor by the Pt loading, proving the formation of Schottky junction. Among the pristine BWO and Pt-loaded BWO with different Pt loading amounts, 1 wt % Pt-loaded BWO exhibits the highest gas response of 209 in sensing 500 ppm triethylamine at 300 °C, a minimal selectivity coefficient of 130.6 against some typical interfering gases at the same concentration and a low detection threshold of 1 ppm. Additionally, the sensitization mechanism is discussed as the synergistic effect of noble metal catalytic effect and metal-semiconductor junctions.

Ultra-small Pt nanoparticles loaded on TiO 2 through in-situ photo-deposition for H 2 production via photo reforming of wastepaper was prepared in this study. The effect of noble metal cocatalyst, Pt loading, content of paper (e.g., napkin), and concentration of NaOH was investigated. Consequently, a highest H 2 production rate of 614.7 µmol/g/h was achieved in the optimum condition. It was found that both the solid paper and the dissolved part in the NaOH solution could scavenge the photo-generated holes and contribute to H 2 production. Our research provides a potential route for the reuse of wastepaper to produce clean fuel.
