As a well-known photocatalyst, TiO2still suffers from rapid electron–hole recombination and limited visible light absorption. To overcome these challenges, the combination of graphene and TiO2has been proposed. However, traditional methods such as ball milling and hydrothermal synthesis face limitations, including high energy consumption and complex procedures. Here, we develop a simple and industrially feasible method to prepare reduced graphene oxide (rGO)-coated TiO2nanoparticles, referred to as rGO-TiO2composites. The optimized rGO-TiO2composites exhibit an enhanced photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) under simulated sunlight conditions, about 99.95% for 4% rGO-TiO2within 80 min. The first-order reaction rate constant (k) of 4% rGO-TiO2(0.0867 min−1) is 5.42 times higher than that of nano TiO2(0.0135 min−1). The key reactive species involved in the degradation process are identified. Additionally, the effects of pH and NaCl concentration on the degradation efficiency of rGO-TiO2are also investigated. The 4% rGO-TiO2composite exhibits an excellent photocatalytic activity within the pH range of 3.87–11.89, and the NaCl concentration does not affect its photocatalytic efficiency. After characterization, the enhanced photocatalytic activity is ascribed to the introduction of rGO and the generation of surface oxygen vacancies (OV) and Ti3+in TiO2crystals.

Marine corrosion and biofouling are challenges that affect marine industrial equipment, and protecting equipment with functional coatings is a simple and effective approach. However, it is extremely difficult to combine anti-corrosion and anti-fouling properties in a single coating. In this work, we combine reduced graphene oxide (rGO)/silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) with a hydrophilic polymer in a bio-based silicone–epoxy resin to create a coating with both anti-fouling and anti-corrosion properties. The excellent anti-fouling performance of the coating results from a ternary synergistic mechanism involving fouling release, contact inhibition, and a hydration effect, while the outstanding anti-corrosion performance is provided by a ternary synergistic anti-corrosion mechanism that includes a dense interpenetrating network (IPN) structure, a barrier effect, and passivation. The results show that the obtained coating possesses superior anti-fouling activity against protein, bacteria, algae, and other marine organisms, as well as excellent anti-corrosion and certain self-healing properties due to its dynamic cross-linked network of rGO/AgNPs and the hydrophilic polymer. This work provides an anti-corrosion and anti-fouling integrated coating for marine industrial equipment.

This study involved the synthesis of modified ZnO materials for photoelectrocatalysis (PEC) by a simple and environmentally friendly electrochemical procedure. The objective was to assess their capacity to photochemically breakdown ofloxacin (OFX) in an aqueous solution. To enhance the PEC performance of pure ZnO, a zinc oxide–reduced graphene oxide (ZnO–rGO) composite was synthesized through an electrochemical co-deposition process without the use of a reducing agent. Subsequently, ZnO–rGO was doped with N (ZnO–rGO:N) to further augment the PEC performance of the photoanode. The surface morphology, microstructure, and optical characteristics of the materials were systematically investigated through X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Raman spectroscopy, and UV–visible spectroscopy. The parameters for synthesizing ZnO–rGO were optimized based on the experimental results” if it can more simply convey your intended meaning. Electrochemical tests demonstrated that N-doping significantly enhanced the photocurrent density of the ZnO–rGO films, which reached 15.14 μA cm −2 , representing 1.6- and 1.3-fold enhancements with respect to those of pure ZnO (9.25 μA cm −2 ) and ZnO–rGO (12.0 μA cm −2 ), respectively. Additionally, the band gap in ZnO was narrowed from 3.4 to 3.18 eV owing to rGO co-deposition and N-doping. After 180 min of Xe lamp irradiation, with a bias potential of 0.7 V (referenced to Ag/AgCl), ZnO–rGO:N demonstrated an OFX degradation rate of 55.7 %. Thus, the N-doped material exhibited higher PEC performance than either ZnO (31.8 %) or ZnO–rGO (36.3 %), implying its enhanced PEC capabilities. Therefore, the modified ZnO-based photoanode prepared using the straightforward electrochemical deposition method satisfied the objective of this study, which was to enhance its PEC activity while providing a viable foundation for nitrogen doping through electrochemical methods.

Aerogel-based composites, renowned for their three-dimensional (3D) network architecture, are gaining increasing attention as lightweight electromagnetic (EM) wave absorbers. However, attaining high reflection loss, broad effective absorption bandwidth (EAB), and ultrathin thickness concurrently presents a formidable challenge, owing to the stringent demands for precise structural regulation and incorporation of magnetic/dielectric multicomponents with synergistic loss mechanisms within the 3D networks. In this study, we successfully synthesized a 3D hierarchical porous Fe3O4/MoS2/rGO/Ti3C2Tx MXene (FMGM) composite aerogel via directional freezing and subsequent heat treatment processes. Owing to their ingenious structure and multicomponent design, the FMGM aerogels, featured with abundant heterogeneous interface structure and magnetic/dielectric synergism, show exceptional impedance matching characteristics and diverse EM wave absorption mechanisms. After optimization, the prepared ultralight (6.4 mg cm–3) FMGM-2 aerogel exhibits outstanding EM wave absorption performance, achieving a minimal reflection loss of −66.92 dB at a thickness of 3.61 mm and an EAB of 6.08 GHz corresponding to the thickness of 2.3 mm, outperforming most of the previously reported aerogel-based absorbing materials. This research presents an effective strategy for fabricating lightweight, ultrathin, highly efficient, and broad band EM wave absorption materials.

AgI/CeO 2 /rGO complexes were prepared in different proportions and characterized by XRD , SEM, TEM , FT-IR, XPS, BET, PL , I-T and EIS. The photocatalytic degradation experiments of levofloxacin (LVF) under visible light (λ max =245 nm) was performed to determined the photocatalytic activity of the composites. When the concentration of simulated pollutants is 20 mg/L and the amount of application is 15 mg, the doping ratio is AgI/CeO 2 /3%-rGO, and the photocatalytic effect of the nanocomposite with pH 5 is the best. The maximum photocatalytic degradation rate of 98.02% can be achieved. The cyclic stability of the composites and the kinetics were also analyzed, and possible degradation mechanisms were also proposed. The intermediates were also detected using high performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry(HPLC-MS) to obtain the possible degradation process . The results show that AgI/CeO 2 /rGO composite exhibits good photocatalytic degradation performance under visible light, and the maximum photocatalytic degradation rate for treating pollutants containing LVF is 98.02%. These findings are expected to provide important theoretical and practical guidance for environmental treatment and research and development of photocatalytic materials.

The current study aimed to present a molecularly imprinted electrochemical sensing platform for bisphenol A (BPA) detection by synergistically combining conductive RGO-PANI hybrids with porous CoNi-MOF. The RGO-PANI network facilitated electron transfer efficiency, while the porosity of CoNi-MOF enhanced molecular recognition capacity through expanded surface area and tailored recognition cavities. The conditions affecting the determination of BPA were also optimized. A linear increase of the current signal was observed in the concentration range of 1–500 nM BPA. The corresponding detection limit was calculated to be 0.36 nM. Selectivity tests showed good adsorption to BPA, which was attributed to the specificity of the MIP film. Practical validation recoveries of 95.12–103.18 % (RSD<3.6 %) were achieved in milk samples, demonstrating reliability in complex matrices. This study balanced sensitivity and cost-effectiveness compared to other sensors. This sensor provided a viable method for environmental and food safety monitoring.

Accurate monitoring of ROS levels is essential for oxidative stress (OS) management, but their low concentration and instability pose significant detection challenges. Here, we developed a highly sensitive and selective electrochemical biosensor for real-time, micro-volume ROS detection in leukemia cells. The sensor was fabricated using ultrathin g-C₃N₄-rGO (CN-rGO) nanosheet synthesized through a calcination and hydrothermal approach. These nanosheets were deposited onto a screen-printed carbon electrode (SPE) and further modified with silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) to construct a CN-rGO@AgNPs/SPE biosensor. The porous nanostructure significantly enhanced the catalytic surface area and electron transfer efficiency, achieving high sensitivities towards H₂O₂ and O₂·⁻ detection. Using a window titration platform, the sensor detected ROS in 0.1 mL lysates of leukemia cell lines (U-937, THP-1, and MOLM-13) with concentrations of 7.38 ± 4.81 μM, 11.74 ± 0.985 μM, 19.84 ± 3.73 μM, respectively. Furthermore, the platform allowed precise monitoring of doxorubicin (DOX)-induced OS, providing valuable insights for guiding leukemia chemotherapy. Additionally, Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulation experiments demonstrated the sensor's exceptional real-time performance, enabling dynamic detection of H₂O₂ release kinetics and ROS generation rates at the cellular level. Combining high sensitivity, low detection limits, and micro-volume analysis capabilities, this sensor holds great potential for clinical auxiliary diagnosis and drug efficacy assessment in leukemia research.

Detecting pressure plays a vital role in electronic skin, which holds vast potential for recognizing physiological signals within the human body. Conventional pressure detection devices frequently encounter issues such as limited detection ranges and low cyclic retention rates. This study utilizes electrostatic self-assembly to precisely deposit reduced graphene oxide (rGO) onto the substrate surface, thereby creating a highly sensitive pressure feedback layer upon reduction. Furthermore, electrostatic spinning is employed to fabricate poly(vinyl alcohol) fibers at the interface between the pressure feedback layer and the interdigitated electrodes, thereby augmenting device sensitivity. Sensors fabricated using this method demonstrate exceptional sensing capabilities across a broad pressure spectrum, achieving ultrahigh sensitivities of 195.44, 165.79, and 125.95 kPa–1 within the ranges of 0–2.7, 2.7–6.91, and 6.91–20 kPa, respectively. They exhibit a rapid deformation response of 92 ms and a fast deformation recovery of 70 ms. Moreover, these sensors display outstanding durability, maintaining over 80% cyclic retention after 10,000 loading–unloading cycles. Finite element numerical simulation results suggest that the rGO/CTAB/CMF composite material, prepared using this method, exhibits superior mechanical and sensing properties. Furthermore, by integration with a custom microprocessor, the sensor’s operational capability is significantly enhanced, enabling precise processing and analysis of limb signal data in everyday situations.

Designing composite electromagnetic wave absorption (EWA) materials with a strategic structure is a key approach to improve the EWA efficiency of SiC nanowires (SiCNWs). In this study, SiCNWs/reduced graphene oxide (SiCNWs/RGO) composites with layered porous structures were successfully prepared using homemade SiCNWs and graphene oxide (GO) using simple freeze-drying and heat treatment techniques. Then the EWA performance of SiCNWs/RGO with different filling amounts (5 wt%, 15 wt% and 25 wt%) was investigated. A minimum reflection loss (RLmin) value of −47 dB at 12.7 GHz was achieved when SiCNWs/RGO was filled with 5 wt% and the coating thickness was 2.2 mm. When the coating thickness was reduced to 2.0 mm, the effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) extended to 5.78 GHz (12.02 to 17.8 GHz), covering the entire Ku band. The outstanding EWA performance was primarily due to the layered porous structure, which facilitates multiple reflections and scattering of electromagnetic waves (EMWs). This structure not only lengthened the wave attenuation path but also worked synergistically with dielectric and conductive losses. The SiCNWs/RGO composites prepared in this study are characterized by light weight, thin thickness and high absorption rate, enabling them to be particularly suitable for electromagnetic shielding in the field of livelihood and ecology.

This study presents a valuable repurposing approach for spent cathode carbon, in which the aluminum electrolysis spent cathode carbon was successfully converted into graphene oxide by Hummer’s method of oxidative intercalation with synergistic ultrasonic exfoliation, and further constructed NiCoLDH/rGO-SCC composites to be used in the electrode materials of hybrid supercapacitor. The large specific surface area of graphene oxide serves as a conductive channel in the electrodes, facilitating charge transfer during the reaction process, in addition to providing NiCoLDH nanosheets with a large number of spatial sites. Electrochemical tests and density functional theory calculations confirmed that graphene oxide facilitated charge transfer during pseudocapacitive reactions. In the three-electrode system, the composite exhibited a specific capacity of 2818 F g −1 , ensuring outstanding electrochemical performance for the hybrid supercapacitor. The results showed that the assembled hybrid supercapacitor could reach an energy density of 35.93 Wh kg −1 at a power density of 375 W kg −1 , and still possesses a capacity retention rate of 85.25 % after 1000 charge/discharge cycles. Consequently, the results demonstrated the supercapacitor’s significant application prospects. This approach provides a sustainable way to recycle spent cathode carbon and develop new capacitor electrode applications.

Chloramphenicol (CAP) has demonstrated favorable therapeutic effects against various bacteria and is widely utilized in the aquaculture industry. However, CAP has recently been classified as a carcinogen, emphasizing the importance of developing effective methods to monitor its concentration. In this study, one-dimensional/two-dimensional (1D/2D) SnO 2 /reduced graphene oxide (rGO) composites were employed to modify a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) for the electrochemical detection of CAP. The SnO 2 /rGO composite materials were synthesized via a solution reaction and calcination method. Optimal electrochemical sensing conditions, including pH values, scan rates, and accumulation parameters, were systematically investigated to demonstrate feasibility. The resulting SnO 2 /rGO/GCE achieved a current density of 154.56 µA/cm², up to 75 times higher than other modified electrodes. Furthermore, the SnO 2 /rGO/GCE exhibited a strong linear relationship within a detection range of 0.001–100 μM and an excellent limit of detection of 0.315 nM for CAP. Finally, the electrodes with optimized modifications were successfully applied to determine CAP concentrations in real lake water and milk samples. These promising results suggest that the as-fabricated SnO 2 /rGO electrode presents a novel and highly effective approach for CAP detection.

Carbon-based materials hold significant potential for electromagnetic absorption applications, however, the development of effective discrete dual-band absorbers remains a formidable challenge. In this study, we synthesized BaTiO₃@reduced graphene oxide (BTO@rGO) composite aerogel via ascorbic acid-assisted thermal reduction, enhanced by a freeze-thaw treatment. This treatment induces a bimodal mesoporous structure, with pore size centered at 2.2 nm and 3.9 nm, which significantly boosts the aerogel’s specific surface area of 15.95 m² g⁻¹ . Additionally, the freeze-thaw process enriches the rGO with defect dipoles and reduces the Ba 2 + content on the surface sites. These structural and compositional features synergistically contribute to the composite’s discrete dual-band absorption characteristic. Specifically, the composite achieves minimum reflection loss values of −13.8 dB in the C-band (4.7–5.7 GHz) and −20.7 dB in the Ku-band (15.4–17.6 GHz) at a thickness of 5.0 mm, which aligns well with the quarter-wavelength theory. This innovative structural design strategy, which transforms single-frequency absorbers into dual-frequency absorbers, offers a novel and effective approach for developing advanced dual-frequency absorbing materials.
