Developing sensing interfaces that simultaneously integrate catalytic activity, efficient charge transfer, and structural stability remains a major challenge for high-performance non-enzymatic glucose sensing. Herein, a CuS/Ti₃C₂/rGO ternary composite was fabricated through a combination of liquid-phase precipitation and self-assembly. Structural, surface, and electrochemical studies revealed that the enhanced sensing performance originated from the synergistic integration of catalytic CuS, conductive Ti₃C₂, and rGO-assisted structural protection. Under optimized conditions, the sensor exhibited a fast response time of 3.7 s, a wide linear range of 0.01–10.35 mM, and a low detection limit of 3.33 µM (S/ N = 3). In addition, satisfactory selectivity, stability, repeatability, and reproducibility were achieved. Recoveries of 98.1–105.0% were obtained in commercial oral liquids and fruit juice samples, demonstrating good analytical reliability in complex matrices. These findings indicate that the proposed catalysis-conduction-protection strategy provides an effective design principle for constructing high-performance non-enzymatic glucose sensing interfaces.

Active metal brazing of Si 3 N 4 /Cu joints typically forms a rigid TiN/Ti 5 Si 3 interface that suffers from significant thermal mismatch. This study demonstrates an alternative strategy for engineering the interfacial reaction pathway using a (Cu20Sn) 100-x Ti x filler. A distinct Cu 2 Ti 4 O interfacial layer formed through oxygen participation in the interfacial reaction during brazing. Thermodynamic analysis reveals that the Ti-O reactions possess a significantly greater driving force than conventional Ti-N and Ti-Si reactions. The resulting Cu 2 Ti 4 O phase establishes a beneficial coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) gradient across the joint, thereby effectively mitigating interfacial thermal stress. Joint brazed with 5 wt% Ti achieved the highest shear strength of 137.3 MPa, which is attributed to the optimized morphology of a discontinuous Cu 2 Ti 4 O layer and the reduced brittle CuSn 3 Ti 5 precipitation. These results demonstrate a new approach for interfacial engineering of non-oxide ceramic joints, confirming that trace oxygen can act as an effective microstructural modifier.

Co₃O₄/TiO₂ achieves a CH₄ yield of 34.8 μmol g −1 h −1 with 82.4% selectivity. • Ti–O–Co bonds serve as charge transfer channels in Co₃O₄/TiO₂. • Co 2+ /Co 3+ redox couples stabilize *CO intermediates and facilitate PCET. • Electron transfer promotes Co electron enrichment for *CO stabilization. • Synergistic electron transfer and proton supply promote selective CO₂ methanation. Value-added conversion of CO 2 using solar energy is a sustainable strategy to address the energy crisis and environmental issues simultaneously. In this work, Co 3 O 4 /TiO 2 composite photocatalysts were successfully prepared by a hydrothermal method. The optimized Co 3 O 4 /TiO 2 achieves a CH 4 yield of 34.8 μmol·g −1 ·h −1 with 82.4% selectivity. The enhanced catalytic activity is ascribed to interfacial Ti-O-Co bonds that facilitate electron transfer toward Co sites, thereby modulating the Co 2+ /Co 3+ electronic environment and creating relatively electron-rich Co sites for *CO stabilization, while the Co 3 O 4 component facilitates the proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET) process toward CH 4 formation. This study provides a practical strategy for promoting the value-added photocatalytic conversion of CO 2 using multivalent transition metal oxide composite photocatalysts. Co 3 O 4 /TiO 2 enables highly selective photoreduction of CO 2 into CH 4 . Ti-O-Co bonds serve as pathways transferring photogenerated electrons from TiO 2 to Co sites. The electron-rich Co centers act as active sites to stabilize *CO intermediates. Meanwhile, Co 3 O 4 promotes water oxidation and maintains sufficient proton supply, synergistically facilitating CH 4 production. Lignin-derived bio-oils contain abundant methoxyphenols exhibiting limited antioxidant activity, which requires their conversion to high-value polyphenols. This study develops titanium-loaded Hβ zeolite catalysts (xTi/Hβ) for the selective O-demethylation of methoxyphenols to catechols under subcritical aqueous conditions. Comprehensive characterization (XRD, XPS, STEM, NH₃-TPD, Py-FTIR) reveals that Ti exists as both framework-incorporated tetrahedral Ti⁴⁺ species (via Al³⁺ substitution) and surface-anchored anatase TiO 2 nanoparticles (NPs). The optimal 5Ti/Hβ catalyst maximizes synergistic effects: framework Ti sites enhance Brønsted acidity, while Ti NPs facilitate H 2 O enrichment near active sites. This achieves 99.46% conversion of 4-propylguaiacol to 4-propylcatechol. Applied to distilled bio-oil, 5Ti/Hβ reduces methoxyphenol content from 48.50 Area.% to 20.25 Area.% and increases total polyphenols from 25.39 Area.% to 43.64 Area.%. Catalyst stability challenges under prolonged hydrothermal conditions are identified for future optimization.

The efficiency of electron utilization and C–C coupling is crucial to the selectivity of photocatalytic CO2 reduction to multicarbon (C2+) hydrocarbon products. Herein, the multifunctional catalyst of TiO2-modified W18O49 nanospheres (TimWOx) was successfully fabricated by in situ growth hydrothermal method. The distinct interfacial energy between W18O49 and TiO2 can promote the charge redistribution at the asymmetric Ti–O–W active sites and facilitate the formation of an internal electric field (IEF). Photogenerated electrons driven by the IEF can improve the dynamic electron shuttling between Ti and W centers for enhancing electron utilization efficiency during CO2 photoreduction. TimWOx catalysts exhibit high activity for photocatalytic CO2 reduction to C2+ products, i.e., the yield and selectivity of C2H4 over Ti0.25WOx are 46.3 μmol·g–1 and 72.01%, respectively, which is 7.25 times that of pristine W18O49. Combined with the results of in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectra and DFT calculations, the photocatalytic mechanism is proposed: the protonation the *OCCOH intermediate is key step for selective photocatalytic CO2 reduction into C2H4, and the energy barrier for the protonation of the *OCCOH intermediate is lowered by IEF-induced dynamic electron shuttling, which selectively steers the reaction pathway toward C2H4 formation. This work highlights the role of interfacial electric fields in guiding electron shuttling for selective photocatalytic C–C coupling, which benefits developing highly efficient photocatalysts.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs)-based mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) have demonstrated significant potential in CO 2 separation applications. However, challenges including inadequate CO 2 affinity of MOFs and insufficient compatibility at MOF-polymer interface have hindered further advancement of MMMs. Hence, this work proposes a synergistic optimization strategy involving mixed-ligand and metal modification to overcome mentioned limitations. Initially, various defect-functionalized NH 2 -MIL-125 (D X NMIL-125) fillers were synthesized by adding 5-hydroxy-o-aminobenzoic acid ligands and integrated into carboxyl-modified cPIM-1 to formulate MMMs. The resulting MMMs were then Zn (II)-modified to further strengthen gas separation capabilities. The plentiful unsaturated Ti sites in D X NMIL-125 and the introduction of Zn (II) impart exceptional CO 2 affinity to MMMs. Furthermore, they form multiple cross-linked structures with cPIM-1 via coordination, thereby improving interfacial compatibility and separation stability of MMMs. The binding energy derived from molecular simulation and CO 2 adsorption results verify that defect sites enhance CO 2 adsorption capacity of MOF. The optimal Zn@D 33 NMIL/cPIM-10 MMMs achieve a CO 2 permeability of 4312.2 Barrer and a CO 2 /N 2 selectivity of 34.8, reaching 2019 McKeown upper bound. This study presents a viable pathway for developing new-generation CO 2 selective separation MMMs.

Directionally modulated Al-Mg-B/Al-Ti-V alloys enable dual-mode synergy. • Lower ignition thresholds, boost heat release, and enhance motor safety. • Agglomerate size reduced by 45.8% (AMB) and 54.8% (ATV), boosting energy release efficiency. • “On-demand” alloy design delivers predictable optimization for tailored fuels. Low energy release efficiency due to aluminum agglomeration remains a critical bottleneck limiting the performance of composite propellants. This study employs two directionally modulated ternary alloys, Al-Mg-B and Al-Ti-V, to optimize the full-cycle performance of HTPB composite propellants via multi-element synergy. Optimal alloy ratios are identified via combustion experiments. The selected alloys are subjected to thermal oxidation analysis, and the corresponding composite propellants are prepared. Systematic tests evaluate ignition, combustion, agglomeration, and products under high pressure. Results indicate that ternary alloy modification promotes efficient ignition, significantly increases combustion heat release, and markedly reduces pressure sensitivity. Specifically, the modification suppresses agglomeration (mean particle size reductions of 45.8% and 54.8%, respectively), thereby improving energy-release efficiency. Further investigation clarifies the mechanisms governing the behavior of Al-Mg-B and Al-Ti-V in composite propellants. These findings suggest that directionally modulated ternary alloys offer a viable strategy for simultaneously enhancing energy release and potentially improving motor operational safety.

TiRuSnPt electrodes with nanoporous structure were fabricated. • Sn Pt co-doping enhances TiRu for dual CER and EOP functionality. • TiRuSnPt electrodes efficiently degrades organics mainly via in-situ generated O 3 and 1 O 2 . • 100% BPA degradation maintains over 240 h under periodic polarity reversal. The electrochemical generation of free chlorine and ozone for the degradation of organic pollutants in water holds broad application prospects. While traditional TiO 2 -RuO 2 /Ti (TiRu) electrodes exhibit favorable chlorine evolution performance in chloride-containing systems, their oxidation capability is limited under chloride-free or low-chloride conditions. To extend the applicability of electrodes in various water matrices, this study developed a TiRuSnPt electrode with simultaneously enhanced electrochemical chlorine evolution (CER) and electrochemical ozone production (EOP) via a tin‑platinum co-doping on TiRu strategy. The TiRuSnPt electrode achieves excellent CER activity that exhibits a Faradaic efficiency (FE) of 67% under low-chloride conditions at 50 mM Cl − . Moreover, the incorporation of tin and platinum enhances the EOP capability of TiRu, overcoming the limitations of conventional TiRu in chloride-free systems for water purification. In chloride-free electrolytes, the ozone and reactive oxygen species generated by TiRuSnPt can efficiently degrade various organic pollutants, such as bisphenol A (BPA) that achieving 99.7% removal within 6 min. TiRuSnPt exhibited high stability under polarity reversal conditions, that can maintain 100% BPA removal and over 80% of total organic carbon removal in a continuous BPA degradation system for more than 240 h. The high stability was due to tin‑platinum co-doping on TiRu, of which the accelerated lifetime increases by 2.6 times for TiRuSnPt compared to TiRu. This work provides a feasible strategy for developing multifunctional TiRuSnPt electrodes with high-efficiency chlorine evolution and ozone production capabilities, thereby broadening their application scopes in water treatment. The poor magnetic and magneto-optical properties of BiFeO3, along with its significant lattice mismatch with silicon, have limited its application in silicon-based integrated magneto-optical devices. In this study, co-doping with Sr2+and Ti4+ions effectively transformed the trigonal structure of BiFeO3into a cubic phase, thereby reducing the lattice mismatch with silicon to 2.8%. High-quality, highly oriented, silicon-based cubic Sr,Ti:BiFeO3thin films were successfully fabricated using radio frequency magnetron sputtering. Due to the induced lattice distortion, the characteristic periodic spiral spin antiferromagnetic structure of BiFeO3was suppressed, resulting in a significant enhancement of the saturation magnetization of cubic Bi0.5Sr0.5Fe0.5Ti0.5O3(48.0 emu/cm3), compared to that of pristine BiFeO3(5.0 emu/cm3). Furthermore, the incorporation of Sr2+and Ti4+ions eliminated the birefringence effect inherent in trigonal BiFeO3, thereby inducing a pronounced magneto-optical effect in the cubic Sr,Ti:BiFeO3thin film. The magnetic circular dichroic ellipticity (ψF) of Bi0.5Sr0.5Fe0.5Ti0.5O3reached an impressive 2300 degrees/cm.

Methylisothiazolinone (2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one) (MIT) is a commonly used biocide in wastewater treatment processes. Residual MIT in wastewater leads to high environmental risks and toxicity. The degradation of MIT via electrochemical oxidation, including kinetics, energy efficiency, oxidation mechanism and degradation pathway, was investigated in this study. Findings from energy and cost evaluation by using electrochemical technology were compared with those of other technologies. Experimental results indicate that electrolyte, current density and initial concentration can significantly affect MIT degradation. The lowest electrical energy per order was less than 3.85 kWh m −3 when NaCl was used as the electrolyte. Electrochemical degradation is advantageous because it can be easily applied without adding chemicals into wastewater and has relative low costs. The oxygen evolution, production of recalcitrant byproducts, and the mass transfer limitation resulted in the decrease of instantaneous current efficiency and mineralization current efficiency. Electron efficiency analysis demonstrated that 68.8% of the electrons used for MIT oxidation were effectively utilized to mineralize MIT into CO 2 . The proportion of direct and indirect oxidation of MIT during electrochemical degradation was quantitatively determined as 37.7% and 62.3%, respectively. HO was the most effective species for MIT degradation. MIT degradation pathway was proposed, in which the C C bond in MIT was broken down. C 3 H 7 NOS and C 3 H 7 NO 4 were detected, indicating the occurrence of ring opening reaction. Sulfur was oxidized into SO 4 2− and cleaved from C 3 H 7 NOS.

This study designed (Ti0.55Cu0.20Zr0.15Ni0.10)1−xSixamorphous alloys based on binary deep eutectics and examined the effect of silicon (Si) on the amorphous forming ability of the filler alloys. The results show that a certain amount of Si added to the filler metals could improve the amorphous forming ability of the alloys. Under the same experimental conditions, the Ti0.55Cu0.20Zr0.15Ni0.10filler metal with 0.5 wt % Si had the strongest amorphous forming ability compared to the other filler alloys containing different amounts of Si; its reduced glass transition temperature (Trg) was 0.5554, and its supercooled liquid phase region width (∆Tx) reached 60 °C. The (Ti0.55Cu0.20Zr0.15Ni0.10)99.5%Si0.5%filler metal designed in these experiments presented good amorphous forming ability and wettability. The brazed joint of SiC and TC4 obtained with this amorphous filler metal showed a shear strength of 102 MPa, indicating an increase of 122% compared to the brazed joint obtained with the filler metal without Si.

Semiconductor electrodes integrated with cocatalysts are key components of photoelectrochemistry (PEC)-based solar-energy conversion. However, efforts to optimize the PEC device have been limited by an inadequate understanding of the interface interactions between the semiconductor–cocatalyst (sem|cat) and cocatalyst–electrolyte (cat|ele) interface. In our work, we used ferrihydrite (Fh)-modified Ti–Fe 2 O 3 as a model to explore the transfer process of photogenerated charge carriers between the Ti–Fe 2 O 3 –Fh (Ti–Fe 2 O 3 |Fh) interface and Fh-electrolyte (Fh|ele) interface. The results demonstrate that the biphasic structure (Fh/Ti–Fe 2 O 3 ) possesses the advantage that the minority hole transfer from Ti–Fe 2 O 3 to Fh is driven by the interfacial electric field at the Ti–Fe 2 O 3 |Fh interface; meanwhile, the holes reached at the surface of Fh can rapidly inject into the electrolyte across the Fh|ele interface. As a benefit from the improved charge transfer at the Ti–Fe 2 O 3 |Fh and Fh|ele interface, the photocurrent density obtained by Fh/Ti–Fe 2 O 3 can reach 2.32 mA cm −2 at 1.23 V versus RHE, which is three times higher than that of Ti–Fe 2 O 3 . Graphical Water splitting : The excellent performance of ferrihydrite (Fh)/Ti–Fe 2 O 3 is attributed to the unhindered charge transfer at the Ti–Fe 2 O 3 |Fh and Fh|electrolyte interfaces. As a benefit from this improved charge transfer, the photocurrent density obtained by Fh/Ti–Fe 2 O 3 can reach 2.32 mA cm −2 at 1.23 V versus the reversible hydrogen electrode, which is three times higher than that of Ti–Fe 2 O 3 .
