S-UE hydrolyzes urea to produce ammonia and carbonic acid. Soil urease activity is positively correlated with soil microbial biomass, organic matter content, total nitrogen, and available nitrogen content. Soil urease activity reflects the nitrogen status of the soil. Determination Principle: The NH₃-N produced by urease hydrolysis of urea is determined using the indophenol blue colorimetric method.
