Neomycin Sulfate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic extracted from Streptomyces. Its mode of action and activity are similar to those of Gentamicin. Neomycin can bind to the 30S and 50S subunits of bacterial ribosomes, resulting in misreading of the genetic code and incorrect protein synthesis. It is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, except Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and exhibits particularly potent activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Corynebacterium diphtheriae and Bacillus anthracis.

Neomycin Sulfate Solution (10 mg/ml) is formulated with high-purity neomycin sulfate and deionized water, and sterilized by filtration through a 0.22 μm membrane for ready-to-use convenience. Neomycin is often used as a selective agent in molecular biology for in vitro culture and selective screening of bacterial clones. It has been reported that neomycin may induce cross-resistance with Kanamycin, Framycetin and Paromomycin. This reagent is for research use only and is not suitable for clinical diagnosis or any other purposes.

Operating Procedures (for reference only)

The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of neomycin against certain bacteria is provided for reference: 0.5 µg/ml for Staphylococcus aureus, 8 µg/ml for Escherichia coli, and 4 µg/ml for Proteus vulgaris. This product is sterilized by vacuum filtration through a 0.22 μm membrane. An appropriate volume of the stock solution can be added according to actual experimental requirements. Aseptic technique should be strictly followed to avoid contamination.

2. Do not leave the product at room temperature for extended periods or store it at 4°C for long-term use.
