概述

Cathepsin B, a cysteine proteinase, is located in lysosomes and is involved in tissue degradation and restructuring. Specifically, cathepsin B is believed to be involved in the intracellular digestion of extracellular proteins taken up by endocytosis.

Prepared from tissue shown to be non reactive for HBsAg, anti-HCV, anti-HBc, and negative for anti-HIV 1 & 2 by FDA-required tests.

生化机理

Thiol protease which is believed to participate in intracellular degradation and turnover of proteins. Cleaves matrix extracellular phosphoglycoprotein MEPE. Involved in the solubilization of cross-linked TG/thyroglobulin in the thyroid follicle lumen (By similarity). Has also been implicated in tumor invasion and metastasis. Catalytic activity: Hydrolysis of proteins with broad specificity for peptide bonds. Preferentially cleaves -Arg-Arg-|-Xaa bonds in small molecule substrates (thus differing from cathepsin L). In addition to being an endopeptidase, shows peptidyl-dipeptidase activity, liberating C-terminal dipeptides. Activity regulation: Inhibited by leupeptin.
