概述
碘在多种溶剂（二恶烷、异丁烯、对二甲苯和苯）中的介电质极化非常高。
是羧酸与醇缩合或酯交换合成酯的催化剂。
一种温和有效的碘催化酯化和酯交换方法
碘用于使薄层色谱（TLC）上易于显示9-溴壬酸、烯丙酯。它还用于制备氧化溶液，这是合成带有3′-端硫代磷酸的寡脱氧核苷酸所必需的。
碘可用于催化：
5-(4-硝基苯基)-10,15,20-三苯基卟啉的合成。
饱和烃氧化性C-H键的胺化。

The dielectric polarization of iodine in various solvents (dioxane, isobutylene, p-xylene and benzene) is very high.
It is a catalyst for synthesizing ester by condensation or transesterification of carboxylic acid and alcohol.
A mild and effective method for esterification and transesterification catalyzed by iodine
Iodine is used to display 9- bromononanoic acid and allyl ester easily on TLC. It is also used to prepare oxidation solution, which is necessary for the synthesis of oligodeoxynucleotides with 3'- terminal phosphorothioate.
Iodine can be used to catalyze:
Synthesis of 5-(4- nitrophenyl) -10,15,20- triphenylporphyrin.
Amination of oxidative C-H bond of saturated hydrocarbon.
The amine is protected by benzyloxycarbonyl (Cbz) group.
β-keto acid ester or 2- pyridyl-β-ester and olefin are directly oxidatively coupled/cyclized to form dihydrofuran and indolizine respectively.
Aromatic thiocyanation produces aryl thiocyanate.
Acetic anhydride is esterified with cellulose to produce cellulose triacetate.
